Abstract

This service activity aims to unlock the potential and development opportunities of Bangelan Village, one of which is Goat Farming. The majority of people's livelihoods are farming and animal husbandry. Almost all the people in Bangelan Village have around 20 goats. One of the livestock groups in Bangelan Village is the Karya Mulya Livestock Group. However, they face obstacles in the form of feed and livestock pens that are not used optimally. Forage is difficult to find, especially in the dry season, so it is necessary to stock food so that farmers do not have difficulty finding feed in the dry season. The cage used is also a traditional cage that has been passed down from our ancestors. The methods applied in this service activity include tracing and interviews with the Karya Mulya Community and Livestock Group. The final results show several plans that will be carried out to resolve existing problems. In conclusion, the Karya Mulya livestock group in Bangelan Village was successful in determining a way to resolve the livestock problem.

Abstract

Abstract

Oro-Oro Ombo Village is located in the Batu Malang area, East Java, Indonesia, and is famous for its culture, architecture, and beautiful environment. Located on the hillside of Panderman Mountain, this village has a landscape dominated by terraced rice fields, vegetable gardens, and fruit orchards. This village is located on a plateau with winding roads, many rivers, and trees which make agriculture and plantations the livelihood of most of the village residents. However, the lack of street lighting in this area can raise security concerns for residents who are active at night. Apart from that, the problem of minimal education regarding waste processing is a matter of concern, so there is a need for education and outreach regarding this matter to increase public awareness and understanding regarding sustainable waste management practices. To overcome the problem of street lighting, a community service activity will be carried out to design and construct street lighting in Oro Oro Ombo Village by utilizing solar energy as an alternative energy. This activity also includes training and mentoring village residents to understand the working principles of solar power plants, so that residents can carry out the necessary maintenance. Street lighting aims to improve public safety, promote economic development, and improve the overall quality of life in rural areas.

Abstract

Blitar Regency has launched the program "Produk Unggulan Industri Kecamatan" (PUTRI KENCANA), which was expected to increase community empowerment by adopting the philosophy “one village, one product". One of the superior products developed is patchouli, where Kesamben Village is the central area for its development with a land area of 25 ha. The productivity of the cultivated land in producing patchouli plants is only 20% per harvest. It is caused by seasonal issues, land fertility, and the diseases of patchouli if plants are cultivated in unhealthy soil. The use of pesticides and fertilizers did not show good results. Therefore, efforts are needed to provide healthy cultivated land through the application of compost, which can increase the organic content of the soil and improve soil quality. The distillation of patchouli in Kesamben produces 2 tons of solid waste every day, which can be used as raw material for producing compost. Therefore, the aim of the community services is to increase the ability and skills of patchouli farming groups in Blitar Regency to produce compost. The training consists of three activities, namely training on production aspects, management aspects, and monitoring. The production aspect includes a presentation of the theory and practice of making compost on a pilot scale (20 kg/group) and a production scale (2 tons/group). Management aspects include process management to ensure product quality and quantity, as well as economic analysis of the compost. The results showed that participants were very enthusiastic about participating in the training and were able to produce compost both on a pilot scale and on a production scale. Monitoring results showed that participants have used the compost on medicinal plants and vegetables, where the plants grow lush and healthy. Participants have also marketed compost.

Abstract

One alternative fertilizer that can be used by farmers so that it does not have a negative impact on the environment and health is Liquid Organic Fertilizer (POC). Some organic materials that can be used to make Liquid Organic Fertilizer (POC) are rice washing water and banana peels which contain nutrients that are good for plant growth. The purpose of this activity is to find out the benefits of banana peels as Liquid Organic Fertilizer (POC). The method used in this activity is a qualitative method and the data collection techniques used are observation and interviews. Based on the survey results, household waste processing in Ngadilangkung Village has not been fully processed by each household, such as rice washing water waste which is only thrown away directly and not used as fertilizer, but for some people the rice washing water is poured on the plants. All locations producing banana kepok waste, such as fried banana sellers, banana molen, and bird feed have also not processed. This shows that there is still a lack of public knowledge regarding the utilization and processing of household waste in Ngadilangkung Village. In this community service activity, socialization was carried out on the manufacture of liquid organic fertilizer by utilizing rice washing water waste and banana peels. The results of the activities show an increase in community awareness and ability in managing waste and reducing dependence on chemical fertilizers.

Abstract

Community service is one of the activities carried out by the academic community to promote the welfare of society and to enlighten the nation. This service aims to increase awareness and sustainable practices in the management of domestic organic waste, particularly rice washing water, resulting in Organic Liquid Fertilizer (OLF). Through socialization and demonstration programs, the community is encouraged to transform waste into valuable resources such as OLF. Initial surveys showed a low level of public knowledge about the benefits of OLF. The survey results indicated that 6% of households had already processed rice washing water, while 96% had not. Following the program, there was a significant increase in the community's understanding of the OLF production process, its nutritional content, and its positive impact on plant growth. Additionally, this program contributed to the reduction of randomly discarded organic waste, thereby positively affecting the surrounding environment. The research findings show that intensive and participatory socialization is the key to successful behavior change towards more sustainable agricultural practices
