Abstract

Research Background: This article examines how Indonesian Muslim intellectuals respond to the discourse of Islamization of knowledge in the millennial era, particularly in connecting religious values with the development of modern science. The study addresses three main questions: how Islamic teachings are positioned in relation to scientific progress, what methodological approaches are proposed by Muslim thinkers, and how relevant these perspectives are for contemporary education. Methods: Using a qualitative descriptive method and literature-based analysis, this research explores key arguments, conceptual frameworks, and patterns of thought found in recent scholarly works. Key Findings: The findings indicate that Indonesian Muslim intellectuals generally adopt integrative, critical, and dialogical approaches toward the relationship between religion and science. Islamization of knowledge is not understood as a rejection of modern science, but as an effort to embed ethical, moral, and spiritual values within scientific development. Contribution: This article contributes to current scholarship by mapping contemporary intellectual positions in Indonesia and clarifying the diversity of responses to the science–religion relationship. Conclusion: It concludes that Islamization of knowledge can serve as a productive framework for strengthening moral awareness while maintaining the critical and open character of scientific inquiry.

Abstract

Research Background: This article examines the actualization of Qasim Amin’s concept of women’s emancipation in the phenomenon of Muslim women travelers in the digital era. The study addresses the question of how Muslim women negotiate religious identity, freedom, and digital mobility while engaging in public and economic spaces through social media. Methods: Using a qualitative approach with a case study design, data were collected through digital documentation, observation of social media content, and literature review, and analyzed using content analysis within the framework of Islamic feminism and Amin’s thought. Key Findings: The findings show that Muslim women travelers represent a contemporary form of emancipation characterized by autonomy, digital literacy, economic independence, and the creative integration of piety with modern lifestyles. Their activities demonstrate that religiosity does not hinder emancipation but can function as an ethical foundation for agency and social participation. Contribution: This article contributes theoretically by contextualizing Qasim Amin’s ideas within digital culture and empirically by highlighting everyday practices of emancipation in virtual spaces. Conclusion: It concludes that women’s emancipation in Islam is a dynamic and evolving process, shaped by technology and socio-economic transformation, rather than a departure from religious values.

Abstract

Research Background: This article examines the practice of women’s prostration (sujud) in prayer by integrating Qur’anic interpretation and the ethics of worship. Contemporary Muslim communities often experience differences in the posture of women’s sujud, which are frequently judged normatively as right or wrong, while the spiritual meaning of prostration as total submission to God is neglected. The study addresses the question: how does the Qur’an conceptualize sujud as spiritual surrender, and how can this meaning function as an ethical framework for understanding diverse women’s practices? Methods: This research employs a qualitative library method with a thematic (maudhu‘i) Qur’anic interpretation combined with analysis of fiqh and socio-religious practices. Key Findings: The findings show that sujud in the Qur’an represents a multidimensional submission—physical, psychological, and ontological—while juristic variations in women’s posture reflect ethical considerations of modesty rather than inequality. Misunderstanding arises from a technical-legal approach detached from spiritual awareness and amplified by imitative practices in the digital era. Contribution: The study contributes theoretically by proposing an integrative model of tafsir, fiqh, and spiritual ethics, and practically by offering a reflective framework for teaching prayer that reduces conflict and strengthens religious consciousness. Conclusion: In conclusion, differences in women’s sujud should be understood as legitimate ijtihad within the shared goal of humility before God, transforming ritual from mechanical movement into meaningful devotion.

Abstract

Background Study: This article examines the problem of truth in contemporary society by focusing on the harmonization between modern Western theories of truth and Islamic epistemology. The study addresses the following questions: how do classical and modern theories of truth explain the nature of truth, what challenges arise in the era of post-truth and digital disinformation, and how can Islamic epistemology contribute to resolving these challenges? Methods: Employing a qualitative literature review method, the article analyzes major theories of truth—correspondence, coherence, pragmatism, consensus, and performative theories—alongside the Islamic concept of al-ḥaqq, including rational, empirical, intuitive (ḥudūrī), and revelational sources of knowledge. Key Findings: The findings indicate that no single theory sufficiently addresses contemporary epistemic crises, particularly when knowledge is detached from ethical responsibility. The study proposes a dialogical and integrative framework that harmonizes rational-empirical verification with moral-spiritual orientation. Contribution: The main contribution of this article lies in formulating a transformative ethical-epistemic model of “civilized truth,” which integrates universal ethics and Islamic values to strengthen social responsibility in the digital age. Conclusion: In conclusion, a pluralistic and harmonize epistemology is essential to address post-truth challenges and to restore truth as a foundation for justice, public trust, and social cohesion.
