Focus and Scope Focus Room of Civil Society Development (RCSD) is a community service-oriented journal that focuses on advancing theories, research, and practices in community participation and empowerment. The journal explores innovative approaches to fostering active participation of communities in development initiatives, integrating science and technology to create sustainable and resilient societies. RCSD encourages submissions that bridge the gap between theory and practice, emphasizing collaborative efforts across various fields to enhance community participation and empowerment. Scope The term "community participation" in RCSD refers to activities that involve community involvement in decision-making, capacity building, and empowerment to address societal challenges. The journal welcomes studies and innovations from various fields, including but not limited to Economy, Education, Health, Environment and Engineering. Economy This scope includes research and initiatives that promote economic development and empower communities to actively participate in strengthening their economic resilience. Topics may include: Community-led development of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs); Participatory economic innovation for local empowerment; Capacity-building programs for economic resilience; Community-driven creative and sustainable product development. Education This scope covers studies and programs that enhance educational theories, models, and practices to foster active community participation in knowledge and skill development. It includes formal, informal, and community-based educational approaches. Topics may include: Participatory frameworks and models for community education; Innovations in informal and non-formal education for communities; Literacy programs promoting active community involvement; Education for sustainable development with community engagement. Health This scope emphasizes research and initiatives aimed at promoting community participation in improving health and well-being. Topics may include: Community-driven health awareness and service programs; Models for participatory public health interventions; Rehabilitation and recovery programs involving community support; Health literacy initiatives empowering community decision-making. Environment This scope highlights community participation in addressing environmental challenges and fostering sustainable practices. Topics may include: Participatory natural resource management; Adoption of community-led green technologies for sustainability; Climate change adaptation initiatives involving local communities; Waste management programs driven by community collaboration. Engineering This scope includes engineering research and projects that actively involve communities in the design, implementation, and evaluation of technological solutions to address societal challenges. Abstract

In the contemporary era, news portals have become integral mediums for global information access and dissemination. However, the swift evolution of technology demands a nuanced understanding to effectively harness these platforms. This study employs an online learning approach as part of a community service initiative, targeting the residents of Komplek Kebersihan Street 13th Neighbourhood 10th Hamlet in Cengkareng, West Jakarta. Focused on the news portal Nachannel.my.id, this endeavor not only familiarizes participants with its features but also addresses the imperative of technological literacy in engineering education. By providing insights into news portal functionality and usage, the initiative empowers participants to navigate the digital information landscape proficiently. The study's outcomes underscore the significance of bridging the knowledge gap, as post-service feedback reflects enhanced awareness and appreciation for the advantages conferred by news portals. This research contributes to the field of engineering by emphasizing the pivotal role of technological literacy in engaging with contemporary information platforms.

Abstract

Mother's Milk is the ideal food for the growth and development of babies. in Indonesia the coverage of exclusive breastfeeding is still far from the national target of 80%, health education activities for pregnant women related to knowledge about exclusive breastfeeding, the benefits of breastfeeding for babies and mothers, nutritional and psychological preparation and practicing proper breastfeeding being solution The right way to prepare yourself from the start so that pregnant women can provide exclusive breastfeeding, his community service is carried out at the Bara-Baraya Community Health Center, Makassar City. The service method is interactive participation accompanied by lectures, questions and answers, discussions, and roleplay. As a result of this service, we get enthusiastic pregnant mothers who actively ask questions, so they are committed to providing exclusive breast milk to their babies, thus this health education is an effective effort to increase knowledge among pregnant women. It is recommended that health workers can carry out health education on an ongoing basis considering that there are still pregnant women who have insufficient knowledge about the importance of preparing for exclusive breastfeeding.

Abstract

Islamic boarding school financial managers must have sufficient knowledge regarding Islamic boarding school accounting which includes procedures for recording financial transactions up to making Islamic boarding school financial reports. Based on the survey results, there are still many Islamic boarding school financial managers who do not understand Islamic boarding school accounting. Lack of training is one of the reasons. So , Islamic boarding school financial managers really need to be given training related to Islamic boarding school accounting . This activity aims to add knowledge to Islamic boarding school financial managers regarding how to record financial transactions and arrive at ways of making financial reports that are correct and in accordance with applicable regulations. Participants in this training activity were attended by eighteen financial managers from nine Islamic boarding schools spread across the Luwu Raya area. The stages of this activity started with preparation, opening, training, practice on how to journalize and make Islamic boarding school financial reports, question and answer discussions, closing and group photos. This activity was carried out smoothly and successfully. Islamic boarding school financial managers in the Luwu Raya region understand Islamic boarding school accounting by being able to properly record financial transactions (journalizing) and understand how to prepare Islamic boarding school financial reports. The conclusion from the results of this community service activity shows that there is a better understanding of Islamic boarding school financial managers in the Luwu Raya area regarding Islamic boarding school accounting (how to record financial transactions and how to prepare Islamic boarding school financial reports).

Abstract

Pelatihan ini membahas strategi peningkatan literasi melalui keterampilan menulis, khususnya dalam bentuk puisi dan cerpen, sebagai respons terhadap rendahnya penguasaan literasi di Indonesia. Dengan merinci peringkat rendah Indonesia dalam survei PISA, pelatihan ini menyoroti potensi puisi dan cerpen sebagai alat efektif untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berbahasa siswa. Metode pelatihan menggunakan pendekat workshop yang mencakup koordinasi, sosialisasi, dan sesi pelatihan dengan narasumber berpengalaman. Narasumber, seperti guru dan praktisi literasi, memberikan panduan teori dan praktis kepada 41 siswa SMP dan SMA/SMK di Kota Baubau. Hasil workshop menghasilkan 26 karya, termasuk 12 cerpen dan 14 puisi, yang akan diterbitkan sebagai buku antologi. Kegiatan ini bertujuan meningkatkan semangat belajar siswa, minat dalam menulis, dan mengembangkan ide kreatif dalam literasi. Dengan melibatkan komunitas literasi, seperti Limbo Wolio Institut, penelitian ini menggarisbawahi peran penting komunitas dalam melestarikan budaya menulis kreatif di kalangan generasi muda. Workshop ini diharapkan memberikan kontribusi positif terhadap literasi siswa dan memotivasi mereka untuk lebih aktif dalam mengeksplorasi dunia tulis-menulis.

Abstract

Postnatal depression is a disorder that occurs in mothers after giving birth. This disorder occurs in her mood, this condition can cause the mother to be easily sad, tired, irritable, cry for no apparent reason, easily anxious and have difficulty concentrating. The worst condition a mother can experience is when she hurts herself or even her baby. The aim of community service is to increase public knowledge about postnatal depression and how to prevent it. The method for organizing PKM is lectures/counseling, discussions and questions and answers with activities providing material related to postnatal depression and its prevention. This activity was attended by 26 participants who were postpartum mothers. Results: mothers were very enthusiastic and active in asking questions, the level of knowledge of postpartum mothers before being given education about postpartum depression was at sufficient knowledge and after being given education increased to high to good knowledge. Health education regarding the prevention of postnatal depression in postpartum mothers needs to be carried out continuously in order to reduce the incidence of postnatal depression and requires the role and support of husbands to provide special attention to reduce the incidence. from postpartum depression.

Abstract

Plastic waste is one of the wastes generated from human activities and is classified as inorganic waste. Inorganic waste is difficult or cannot be decomposed, especially if the plastic is made of non-biodegradable materials. The increase in plastic waste is one of the problems faced by all parties and can threaten environmental sustainability. Efforts that can be made to minimize plastic waste are to recycle plastic waste into valuable products, such as planting media. The purpose of this community service activity is to manage plastic waste into planting media. This aims to minimize environmental pollution due to plastic waste, especially plastics that are classified as non-biodegradable. The methods used in this activity are lectures and demonstrations. The activity was attended by 37 people consisting of village officials, PKK mothers, and Karang Taurna of Blimbing Village, Kediri Regency. In this PKM activity, the participants seemed enthusiastic about participating in a series of activities from waste management education and also demonstrations in making planting media. In this activity, it is known that there is an increase in participants' knowledge about good waste management. As a follow-up effort, similar and relevant activities are needed so that public knowledge and awareness of the importance of good and correct waste management will increase, so as to create a healthy and sustainable environment.
