Abstract

Elderly is someone who has reached the age of 60 years and over. The elderly are a group that is included in the vulnerable category, as a vulnerable group. The elderly have the characteristics of various changes in all aspects of life which include physiological, psychological, social and spiritual changes. Hypertension is a chronic condition without symptoms in which the arterial blood pressure is very high. So prevention of further hypertension can be done by using the following strategy (measure blood pressure regularly, continue to take medication regularly and recommend drinking traditional herbs). This study aims to determine the effect of the ULA strategy on hypertension blood pressure levels in the elderly. This type of research uses a pre-experiment one group pre-post test design. The sampling technique used was accidental sampling with a total of 30 respondents. The statistical test used is Wilcoxson. From the results of this study, 25 respondents obtained ULA strategy data that routinely intervened, while the mean artery prausure (MAP) 2 respondents occupied stage 1, 7 respondents occupied stage 3 and 19 respondents occupied stage 4. The results of this study indicate that there is a significant influence between before and after being given the intervention with a p value: 0.000 (<0.005). Recommendations from the results of the study are that the ULA strategy can be used as an intervention to reduce blood pressure levels.

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus is a hereditary disease and a non-communicable disease which is always experiencing an increase in the number of patients. Diabetes Mellitus can cause complications of microangiopathy and macroangiopathy. One of the complications experienced by diabetes mellitus patients is neuropathy and peripheral arterial disease. One way to find out about circulation disorders is to carry out an Ankle Brachial Index (ABI) examination. One exercise to overcome vascular problems is diabetic foot exercises. Foot exercises are carried out with the aim of preventing complications of tissue damage in peripheral areas such as the feet and preventing complications such as diabetic ulcers. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of foot exercises on the Ankle Brachial Index value in Diabetes Mellitus patients. This research method uses quantitative research with a pre-experimental research type with a pre test-post test one group design approach. The results of the statistical analysis show that the sig (2 tailed) ABI value is 0.000 or <0.005 with an average change in the ABI value before and after 0.10, so from the results of the paired t test it is stated that Ho is rejected, which means there is an influence of leg exercises on ABI value. Conclusion, foot exercises can be an intervention that can be given by diabetes mellitus patients to prevent complications that can occur such as diabetic wounds because foot exercises will increase peripheral vascularization by increasing the ABI value.

Abstract

The Intensive Care Unit, ICU, is a hospital unit with staff and equipment to manage patients with life-threatening diseases, trauma, and complication due to organ or system dysfunction. The care is important because the patients may survive with intensive care and medication. Hemodynamic changes influenced the patient's conditions in ICU so specific monitoring and therapeutic actions are important. One of the therapies to apply is spiritual music therapy to improve the life quality of patients through the nervous system of the patients. This mechanism improves the psychological level, sleeping quality, and convenience of the patients due to the decreased beat rhythm. This research determined the influence of spiritual music therapy on the hemodynamic status of the patients. This pre-experimental research applied one group pretest-posttest without a control group. The sample consisted of 34 respondents taken with purposive sampling. The applied statistic test was paired t-test if the results were normal, starting from the blood pressure and the pulse. If the results were not normal, the researcher would apply the Wilcoxon test for saturation and respiratory rate. The results showed the p-value of systolic, diastolic, and oxygen saturation was 0.004 lower than 0.05; pulse with 0.005 lower than 0.05; and respiration with 0.263, higher than 0.05. The results showed the influence of spiritual music therapy on systolic, diastolic, oxygen saturation, and pulse. On the other hand, respiration did not influence the patients after providing spiritual music therapy.

Abstract

Cardiac arrest is a critical emergency that requires prompt intervention. Nurses play a crucial role in activating the code blue system, which necessitates a thorough understanding of the procedures involved. Adequate knowledge among nurses is essential for effective management of cardiac arrest cases and achieving the goals of the code blue system. This study aims to assess the level of knowledge among nurses about the code blue protocol for cardiac arrest patients. This quantitative research employed a descriptive study design. The sample consisted of 33 nurses working in the Bougainville Ward at SMC Telogorejo Hospital. Knowledge levels were evaluated using a structured questionnaire. The study revealed that the majority of nurses in the Bougainville Ward had a good understanding of the code blue procedures, with 26 respondents (78.8%) demonstrating a high level of knowledge. The findings indicate that a significant proportion of nurses possess a good level of knowledge regarding code blue protocols for cardiac arrest. To maintain and enhance this knowledge, it is recommended that hospitals continue to provide training opportunities. Further research could explore the correlation between nurses’ characteristics and their knowledge of code blue procedures.
