Abstract

The purpose of this study was to identify the locations and contributing factors of sports-related injuries among PORPROV contingent athletes from Banjarbaru City. This study employed a descriptive survey method. The population consisted of 203 PORPROV contingent athletes from Banjarbaru City who participated in various game sports. Data were collected using a structured survey instrument to determine the sites and causes of sports injuries experienced during training and competition. The results showed that the lower extremities, particularly the ankle, were the most frequently injured body parts. Ankle injuries accounted for 40.54% of injuries occurring during training and 46.15% of injuries sustained during competition. The main causes of injuries during training were intrinsic factors, especially incorrect movement techniques, which contributed to 39.33% of injury cases. During competition, injuries were commonly caused by intrinsic collisions, improper movement techniques, insufficient warm-up, and lack of rest, each contributing equally at 21.74%. The findings indicate that sports-related injuries among PORPROV contingent athletes predominantly affect the lower extremities, with intrinsic factors being the primary contributors to injury occurrence. These results highlight the importance of proper movement techniques, adequate warm-up, and sufficient recovery in reducing the risk of sports injuries among competitive athletes.

Abstract

Children with autism often experience significant challenges in gross motor development due to sensory-motor limitations and neurological impairments, which hinder their participation in physical and social environments. Existing interventions for motor enhancement in special-needs populations frequently lack personalization and continuity in application. The present study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of creative adaptive physical activities in improving gross motor skills in autistic children by implementing a structured and repetitive intervention. Employing a quantitative approach through a Single Subject Research (SSR) design with A-B-A phases, the study analyzed changes in motor performance across baseline, intervention, and post-intervention phases. One participant diagnosed with autism was observed over ten sessions involving structured adaptive activities such as zig-zag walking and ball throwing. The results demonstrated a progressive improvement in gross motor ability, with performance increasing from 32% in the initial baseline to 70–88% during intervention and stabilizing at 93–99% in the final phase. The urgency of this research lies in addressing the motor development gap in inclusive education frameworks. The novelty of the study is rooted in its integration of play-based therapeutic strategies within an individualized, behaviorally tracked experimental model. The findings contribute significantly to adaptive physical education by validating low-cost, engaging, and personalized interventions, supporting both pedagogical practices and therapeutic programming in special education and community rehabilitation settings.

Abstract

Abstract. Mountain climbing is a physically demanding activity requiring high levels of strength and endurance. After climbing activities, climbers frequently experience physical fatigue caused by lactic acid accumulation and prolonged energy expenditure. Effective recovery strategies are necessary to restore physiological conditions and improve post-activity recovery. Sport massage and Swedish massage are widely used recovery methods; however, comparative evidence regarding effectiveness in reducing fatigue among mountain climbers remains limited. The purpose of this study was to examine the differences in effectiveness between sport massage and Swedish massage in reducing fatigue levels among mountain climbers. A pretest–posttest experimental design was employed involving 30 participants selected through random sampling. Participants were divided into two groups consisting of 15 individuals in the sport massage group and 15 individuals in the Swedish massage group. Data were analyzed using paired t-tests and independent t-tests. The findings demonstrated that both sport massage and Swedish massage produced significant positive effects on reducing physical fatigue. Comparative analysis showed no statistically significant difference between both methods. However, sport massage demonstrated a higher effectiveness percentage (45%) compared with Swedish massage (35%). The novelty of the study lies in providing comparative evidence regarding massage-based recovery interventions specifically among mountain climbers. The findings contribute practical implications for selecting effective recovery strategies following physically demanding outdoor activities. Abstract in Indonesia. Abstract

Exergames are a digital innovation that combines physical activity with interactive gaming, potentially enhancing the health and well-being of older adults. This scoping review aims to explore the effectiveness of exergames in supporting active aging. Data were collected from several academic databases, including PubMed, ScienceDirect, ProQuest, SAGE Journal, and EBSCO Host. The search was conducted using keywords such as "exergames", "digital intervention", "active aging", "older adults", "elderly", and "health benefits of exergames". The initial search yielded 441 studies, but after the screening process, 6 experimental studies were selected for further analysis. The findings indicate that exergames significantly improve balance, muscle strength, mobility, and cognitive function in older adults. Additionally, exergames contribute to increased motivation and social engagement in physical activities. However, the adoption of exergames in Indonesia remains limited due to low awareness, technological accessibility, and cultural adaptation challenges. Nurses play a crucial role in educating, facilitating, and integrating exergames into elderly healthcare services. Further research is needed to develop culturally appropriate exergames tailored to the needs of Indonesian older adults and to evaluate their long-term impact on quality of life.

Abstract

Abstract. The present study evaluated the construct validity and reliability of the Track and Field SportRec Talent Test Battery (SRTTB) designed for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Talent identification plays an important role in optimizing athletic potential and supporting inclusive sports development. A total of 74 male students with intellectual disabilities aged 14–20 years from a special school in Klang participated in the study. Participants completed several physical performance tests, including the standing long jump, 30 m sprint, push-up, seated medicine ball throw, standing overhead medicine ball throw, standing backward overhead medicine ball throw, and 20 m intermittent fitness test. Data analysis was conducted using IBM SPSS version 30 to examine construct validity and test–retest reliability. Construct validity was assessed through convergent and discriminant validity analyses, while reliability was evaluated using the Intraclass Correlation Coefficient (ICC). The findings demonstrated excellent reliability for the standing long jump (ICC = 0.94), 30 m sprint (ICC = 0.89), push-up (ICC = 0.97), standing overhead medicine ball throw (ICC = 0.84), standing backward overhead medicine ball throw (ICC = 0.91), and VO₂max test (ICC = 0.99). The seated medicine ball throw showed moderate reliability (ICC = 0.70). Convergent validity analysis revealed strong correlations across all performance measures, ranging from 0.885 to 0.996. Discriminant validity analysis indicated low correlations between unrelated constructs, confirming that each test measured distinct physical performance components. The results support the SRTTB as a valid and reliable instrument for identifying athletic talent among individuals with intellectual disabilities. The findings provide practical implications for coaches, educators, and researchers in developing evidence-based training and talent identification programs. Abstract in Indonesia. Abstract

This systematic review aims to evaluate empirical evidence on the effectiveness of integrating small-sided games with digital gamification in enhancing the appeal of Physical Education-learning. A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) following PRISMA guidelines was applied to ten selected empirical articles from indexed databases spanning 2015-2025. The results of the analysis show a positive convergence between the two approaches. Digital gamification, through elements such as points, badges, leaderboards, and progress bars, successfully transforms small-sided game activities into a series of structured challenges. This transformation significantly boosts students' intrinsic and extrinsic motivation, learning engagement, as well as the duration and intensity of physical activity. Furthermore, this integration creates a holistic synergy: beyond optimizing physical goals, it also strengthens socio-affective dimensions by utilizing small-sided games as a vehicle for developing cooperation, sportsmanship, and communication. The success of implementation heavily relies on careful pedagogical design, which balances competitive (performance-oriented) elements with mastery-oriented ones to ensure inclusivity and avoid excessive pressure. Practical implications emphasize the importance of teacher training and the use of gamification data for formative assessment. Further research with rigorous experimental designs, larger and more diverse samples, and long-term outcome measurements is needed to strengthen the findings and refine implementation guidelines.
