Abstract

The role of citizenship education is fundamental in internalizing the values of nationalism and ethics within a society. This research is motivated by the increasing challenges of globalization and moral degradation that threaten the national identity of the younger generation. The primary objective of this study is to analyze the strategic role of citizenship education in shaping and strengthening national character within the Indonesian context. The research employs a qualitative descriptive method, utilizing literature reviews and thematic analysis of educational policies and social phenomena. The findings indicate that citizenship education serves as a vital instrument not only for transferring political knowledge but also for fostering civic disposition, including integrity, tolerance, and social responsibility. Furthermore, the integration of local wisdom within the curriculum significantly enhances the effectiveness of character building. The implications of this study suggest that a revitalized citizenship education curriculum, which adapts to digital era challenges, is essential for maintaining social cohesion. Stakeholders in the education sector must prioritize interactive and participatory pedagogical approaches to ensure that national character values are not merely memorized but practiced in daily life, thereby ensuring the long-term sustainability of the nation's democratic values.

Abstract

The Merdeka Curriculum, as a new educational policy in Indonesia, emphasizes the cultivation of the Pancasila Student Profile, which is rich in citizenship values. This study aims to analyze the application of citizenship values in Pancasila and Civic Education (PPKn) learning within the framework of the Merdeka Curriculum at the high school level. This research employs a qualitative descriptive method, collecting data through classroom observations, semi-structured interviews with PPKn teachers, and analysis of teaching modules and project-based learning documents (P5). The findings indicate that the application of citizenship values is primarily integrated through Project-Based Learning to Strengthen the Pancasila Student Profile (P5). Values such as mutual cooperation (gotong royong), critical reasoning (bernalar kritis), and global diversity (berkebinekaan global) are the most frequently emphasized. However, teachers face challenges, including the need to adapt pedagogical approaches, difficulties in assessing value-based outcomes authentically, and a lack of specific reference materials aligned with the new curriculum. The implication of this research is the urgent need for structured professional development for teachers and the development of comprehensive teaching guides to ensure the effective and standardized implementation of citizenship values in PPKn learning across all educational units.

Abstract

Bullying in schools is a serious problem that negatively impacts the psychological and social development of students. This study aims to comprehensively analyze the strategies implemented by teachers, principals, and Guidance and Counseling (BK) teachers in preventing and handling bullying, while also examining the integration of Just and Civilized Humanity values into these practices. The method used was descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques in the form of semi-structured interviews, observation, and documentation. The research subjects included subject teachers, BK teachers, and curriculum staff at a secondary school. The results showed that in efforts to handle and prevent bullying, teachers implemented a two-way dialogic approach in conflict management and early detection of bullying behavior. In addition, BK teachers implemented empathy-based classical guidance services, individual counseling, and multistakeholder coordination. Meanwhile, the school developed an anti-bullying co-curricular program involving the Student Council (OSIS), the Student Representative Council (MPK), and a monitoring team. The main obstacles included low case reporting and the normalization of bullying behavior by students. This study recommends strengthening synergy between parties through a structured and sustainable integrated anti-bullying team.

Abstract

Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) is an important preventive effort to reduce the spread of infectious diseases among school-age children. However, the implementation of PHBS among elementary school students still faces several challenges, including low awareness, lack of habituation, and learning processes that are predominantly focused on cognitive aspects. This study aims to describe and analyze the implementation of Science learning based on the Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) approach in improving students' clean and healthy living behavior as an effort to prevent infectious diseases. This research employed a qualitative descriptive design. The study was conducted at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Darul Ulum Jember in May 2026. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data analysis used the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña, consisting of data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings revealed that STEAM-based science learning increased students' engagement in the learning process, strengthened their understanding of PHBS, and encouraged healthier behavior both at school and at home. The study also identified diverse responses from teachers and parents, initial resistance from some community members, and variations in students' academic achievement. Nevertheless, through socialization and support from various stakeholders, STEAM-based science learning was successfully implemented and positively contributed to the development of clean and healthy living behaviors. Therefore, the STEAM approach can serve as an effective alternative for integrating health education into science learning in elementary schools.

Abstract

Bullying in higher education institutions is a social issue that disrupts students' comfort, safety, and overall academic environment. This phenomenon not only affects victims' psychological well-being but also hinders the creation of a healthy, inclusive, and supportive learning atmosphere. Although numerous studies have examined bullying, research linking it to the values of tolerance and social harmony remains limited. This study aims to analyze bullying in higher education from the perspectives of tolerance and social harmony. The research employed a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) by examining relevant scientific articles obtained from Google Scholar and other scholarly sources. The findings indicate that the implementation of tolerance through respect for diversity, openness in social interaction, and appreciation of differences can reduce the likelihood of bullying. Furthermore, social harmony fostered through collaboration, inclusive communication, and a culture of mutual respect contributes to creating a safe campus environment. Conversely, a culture of seniority, weak institutional supervision, and permissive attitudes toward bullying increase the risk of such behavior. Therefore, comprehensive institutional policies, secure reporting mechanisms, psychological support services, and continuous educational programs are essential to strengthen tolerance and social harmony, ultimately creating an inclusive, safe, and bullying-free higher education environment.

Abstract

Indonesia's tropical forests face increasing degradation from land conversion, illegal logging, and seasonal fires. This study examines how Pancasila values can serve as an ethical framework for tree planting actions aimed at forest conservation, specifically focusing on a 10,000-tree planting initiative. Using a literature review method, this study analyzes community service reports and academic articles on reforestation and Pancasila-based environmental management. The findings show that all five principles of Pancasila are interconnected and form a unified ecological ethic. The first principle provides a spiritual foundation for gratitude and responsibility toward nature; the second promotes fairness in sharing environmental burdens and benefits; the third enables cross-regional cooperation; the fourth places deliberation at the center of conflict resolution between conservation and land use interests; and the fifth ensures that conservation outcomes are distributed equitably across communities and generations. This study recommends that large-scale planting programs be evaluated not only by number of trees planted, but by the extent to which the process reflects the values of mutual cooperation, justice, and deliberation central to Pancasila.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the gap between academic achievement and student integrity as reflection of character education failures in modern Indonesian education. Using A literature synthesis methodology incorporating systematic identification, selection, data extraction, thematic synthesis, cross-study integration, and source triangulation, 20 academic references published between 2021 and 2026 were analyzed. Sources include nationally accredited journals, official government reports from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) and Statistics Indonesia (BPS), and international publications. The findings confirm three core propositions: first, the paradox between academic value and integrity is empirically supported, as indicated by the National Education Integrity Index (IIP) of 69.5 in 2024 and the Anti-Corruption Behavior Index (IPAK) showing increased permissiveness toward corruption among higher-educated groups; second, character education failures are structural and systematic, stemming from overly cognitive-centered curricula, lack of teacher modeling, and weak school-family synergy; and third, digital modernity exacerbates the paradox through AI-based plagiarism and digital academic dishonesty. This study concludes that educational success cannot be measured solely through academic scores; integrity, responsibility, and honesty must become primary evaluation indicators to produce graduates who are not only intellectually capable but also morally grounded.

Abstract

Corruption remains a major challenge in Indonesia, highlighting the need for preventive efforts, one of which is through anti-corruption education. The advancement of technology has positioned social media as an effective platform to promote anti-corruption values to the young generation, who represent the largest group of social media users. This study aims to examine the role of social media as an educational medium for anti-corruption among the young generation, covering their level of engagement, the impacts, and the challenges encountered in its implementation. The study employs a literature review method by utilizing relevant academic sources, such as books and articles related to the research topic. The results indicate that social media is actively used by the young generation and effectively serves as a social sanction, while also enhancing awareness, encouraging participation, and disseminating anti-corruption education. However, its effectiveness is constrained by several challenges, including the spread of misinformation, limited digital literacy, negative responses from authorities, and unequal access to digital infrastructure. Therefore, collaboration between the government and society is essential to maximize the potential of social media as an optimal platform for anti-corruption education.

Abstract

The development of social media has transformed communication patterns within student organizations, including the practice of deliberation and consensus-building as the basis for decision-making. This study aims to analyze the influence of social media on the culture of deliberation and consensus-building within the National University Digital Business Student Association. The study employs a qualitative method with a descriptive approach through interviews with ten informants selected using purposive sampling. The data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. The results show that social media—particularly WhatsApp, Discord, and Zoom—play a crucial role in supporting coordination, information dissemination, and the rapid and flexible making of technical decisions. However, face-to-face deliberations are still considered more effective for discussing complex issues because they minimize miscommunication, increase member participation, and facilitate the achievement of consensus. This study concludes that social media serves as a tool to support organizational communication but has not yet been able to replace the role of face-to-face deliberation. Therefore, a more structured framework for the use of social media is needed to ensure that the effectiveness of digital communication remains aligned with the values of deliberation and consensus within student organizations.

Abstract

Corruption remains a structural problem that hinders Indonesia's national development in economic, governance, and public trust dimensions. Law enforcement approaches alone have proven insufficient to significantly reduce corruption because they only address symptoms rather than the underlying weakness of individual integrity. This article aims to examine the role of anti-corruption education as a preventive strategy in building a culture of integrity among the younger generation and society at large. This study employs a literature review method by examining relevant journal articles, books, and prior research related to anti-corruption education and character development. The collected data were analyzed descriptively and qualitatively through content analysis to identify patterns, conceptual linkages, and strategic recommendations. The findings indicate that anti-corruption education, when consistently integrated into formal curricula, school culture, and family environments, can foster moral awareness, honesty, responsibility, and the courage to reject corrupt practices from an early age. However, implementation still faces challenges such as limited educator competence, insufficient role modelling, and suboptimal cross-sector involvement. This study recommends strengthening participatory learning approaches, leadership exemplars, and synergy among families, schools, government, and society so that a culture of integrity can grow sustainably.
