Abstract

The abbreviation is often found in naming institutions in Indonesia. This research is descriptive-qualitative. This research aims to identify the forms and patterns of abbreviations in naming State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) in Indonesia. The data collection method in this research is by observing and note-taking techniques. The data in this research are the trade names of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN), which are undergoing a shortening process. The data was analyzed using the high method and the theory regarding Indonesian abbreviations by Kridalaksana. This research found that the abbreviations in BUMN trade names are abbreviations, acronyms, and fragments. The pattern for forming BUMN trade name abbreviations is by retaining the first letter of each component, retaining the first letter with the deletion of conjunction, retaining the first two letters, retaining the first three letters, retaining syllables, retaining letters and syllables, and abbreviating syllables.

Abstract

In terms of syntax, verbs can be distributed together with other grammatical units so that a verb distribution is formed that can become the core element of a phrase. There are several subcategories for verbs. Predicate verbs in Indonesian can be divided into two types, namely intransitive verbs and transitive verbs. This study aims to determine whether these verbs are used by the rules of Arabic grammar (syntax). This research method uses a qualitative descriptive analysis method. The data collection technique in this study is by reading and recording. The data source is in the short story "Al-Athfal wa al-qiroah" in the book al'arabiyah baina yadaik. This study uses a repeated reading method in a short story, "Al-Athfal wa al-qiroah," in Al'Arabiyah Baina Yadaik. After data collection, the next step is to identify the type of verb based on the need for the object. The main categories are transitive and intransitive verbs, each with specific criteria. Analysis is carried out on the verbs; the results are recorded and discussed. Next, conclusions are drawn after analyzing the possibility of syntactic errors based on the transitive or intransitive nature of the verbs in the data. The results of the study found 15 transitive and intransitive verb data. Of these, 9 are transitive verb data, and 6 are intransitive verb data. The study results show no errors in language structure, especially related to transitive and intransitive verbs, and indicate that the story's author has good syntactic skills in Arabic.

Abstract

This research was based on the author's concern when he saw that postgraduate student, especially linguistics programs, did not use standard language varieties when corresponding via email. The variety of language used tends to be non-formal and like written spoken language. Departing from this situation, through this research the author aims to trace the syntactic errors in language of postgraduate linguistics program students and identify representations of logical thinking based on this language behavior. This research was studied qualitatively by analyzing data in the form of sentences collected from the contents of email messages from graduate students in linguistics programs. A total of fifteen data were analyzed and various syntactic errors were found which included errors in sentence structure, word use, punctuation use, phrase use and clause use. Word errors rank at the top in this research. The results of this research have implications for the evaluation of the learning process and language learning in higher education in particular, so that students are more sensitive to simple syntactic elements so that simple syntactic errors can be avoided.

Abstract

There is a unique structure in every language. The existence of unique languages comes from the study of language diversity. This study focuses on the use of verb formation affixes in informal Indonesian. The data for this study comes from a comic entitled “Ngopi, yuk!” by Assyifa S. Arum and Romy Hernadi on Webtoon. The data in this study is limited to the first 15 episodes. The results of this study indicate that there are five verb formation affixes which include (1) the prefixes me-, di-, ber-, ke-, ter-, per-, and nge-; (2) the suffixes -in, -an, and -kan; (3) the confix ke-an; (4) the simulfix N-; and (5) the combination of the affixes N-in, di-in, memper-kan, di-kan, and me-kan. In addition, the verb formation affixes in informal Indonesian on Webtoon entitled “Ngopi, yuk!” dominantly use the morpheme -in and the morpheme N-, namely, nine data and eight data.
