Abstract

The article reviews how historians can balance objectivity with subjectivity in their assessment of historical evidence, which is arguably the major theme in both historiography and in the philosophy of history: How does one write history with epistemic integrity while recognizing and accepting that the discipline is interpretively mediated? The article engages the theoretical work of Leopold von Ranke, E. H. Carr, Hayden White, Frank Ankersmit, and Michael Novick, while also placing their debates within broader philosophical and historiographical frameworks. The outcome of this discussion positions that objectivity and subjectivity are not mutually exclusive; that is, a disciplined acknowledgment of subjectivity, via reflexively engaging with sources, narrative decisions, and interpretative frameworks, enhances methodological rigor and provides a transparent history to the past. Thus, while the discussion is theoretical, examples of the reflexive subjectivity in action span from Ranke's work in the archives and diplomatic accounts to studies of Holocaust testimony and colonial memory. The study advances a model of disciplined subjectivity as a methodological bridge between objectivity and interpretation, enabling historians to produce coherent, transparent, and ethically responsible narratives

Abstract

Globalization has significantly reshaped contemporary education through digitalization, transnational knowledge circulation, and global normative frameworks, compelling Islamic education to adapt while preserving its moral and spiritual foundations. Although existing studies discuss globalization, Islamic education reform, and human rights separately, there remains a lack of systematic synthesis integrating these dimensions. This study addresses this gap by conducting a PRISMA-based Systematic Literature Review of peer-reviewed journal articles (2015–2025) indexed in Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar. Using thematic synthesis guided by the maqāṣid al-sharīʿah framework, the review analyzes how globalization drives paradigm shifts in Islamic education and shapes and mediates the integration of human rights principles. The findings reveal a transition toward learner-centered pedagogy, competency-based curricula, and adaptive institutional governance aligned with ḥifẓ al-ʿaql, while human rights integration remains uneven and often normative. Maqāṣid-based reasoning emerges as a key mediating framework that contextualizes human rights within Islamic educational values. The study highlights the need for maqāṣid-oriented policies and governance reforms to ensure that globalization and human rights advance intellectual development, dignity, justice, and moral responsibility in Islamic education.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a long term metabolic condition characterized by elevated blood glucose levels due to impaired insulin production, insulin action or both. The global rise in diabetes prevalence presents a major public health concern. This study utilized a dataset of 768 Diabetes Cases (No Diabetes (Type 1) = 500 Cases while Yes (Type 2) Diabetes Cases = 268 Cases) Obtained from Kaggle.com to explore the clinical and demographic predictors of diabetes mellitus using logistic regression analysis. Results revealed that glucose concentration, body mass index (BMI), diabetes pedigree function and number of pregnancies were the most significant predictors of diabetes. Elevated glucose emerged as he strongest predictor while obesity and hereditary risk substantially increased the likelihood of diabetes. The model demonstrated a good fit and moderate explanatory power, correctly classifying 78.3% of cases, though it performed better at identifying non-diabetic than diabetic individuals. Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) analysis confirmed glucose as the most discriminative variable followed by BMI and age whereas insulin, skin thickness and blood pressure contributed minimally. These findings reinforce the multifactorial etiology of diabetes emphasizing the combined influence of clinical, genetic and demographic factors in disease prediction. Clinically, the results suggest that regular monitoring of glucose levels, BMI and family history could enhance early detection and preventive management of diabetes in at risk populations.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the distribution of the golden apple snail (Pomacea canaliculata) and its ecological associations during the rice harvest stage (Oryza sativa L.) in Sumberaji Village, Kabuh District, Jombang Regency. Fieldwork was conducted from May to June 2025 using a descriptive quantitative design. Data were collected through purposive sampling across four observation plots, each measuring one square meter. Statistical analysis included Pearson correlation to assess the relationship between environmental variables and snail abundance, while the distribution patterns of temperature and pH were evaluated using the Chi-Square Goodness of Fit test. A total of fourteen individuals were recorded across all plots, resulting in an average density of 0.875 individuals per square meter. The highest abundance was observed in the second plot, where water temperature and pH were within the optimal ecological range. The lowest abundance occurred in the fourth plot, with only one individual recorded. Correlation analysis revealed no significant relationship between environmental factors and snail abundance (r = –0.28 for temperature; r = –0.31 for pH; p > 0.05). The Chi-Square test results indicated that the distribution of temperature (χ² = 0.097; p > 0.05) and pH (χ² = 0.065; p > 0.05) did not differ significantly from an even distribution pattern. These findings indicate that temperature and pH conditions at the study site were relatively homogeneous across plots and did not represent dominant determinants of golden apple snail distribution. Other ecological variables, including food availability, vegetation structure, and biotic interactions, are likely to exert a stronger influence on population variability.

Abstract

This study investigates the internalization of democratic values through Social Studies learning at MA Islamiyah Senori Tuban. Education serves as a key mechanism for developing civic responsibility, critical thinking, and participatory attitudes among students. A qualitative case study design was employed to explore classroom practices and student experiences in an Islamic educational context. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and classroom observations involving teachers, students, and school stakeholders. The analysis reveals that democratic values such as tolerance, responsibility, and active participation are fostered through interactive learning strategies, including group discussions, collaborative projects, and election simulations. Students demonstrate increased engagement, confidence, and awareness of democratic processes when involved in experiential activities. Variations in participation levels and difficulties in understanding abstract civic concepts remain evident among some students. Institutional support, teacher competence, and resource availability influence the effectiveness of implementation. The findings indicate that participatory learning environments strengthen democratic character formation and provide meaningful learning experiences. The study contributes to the understanding of how democratic and religious values can be integrated within Social Studies education.

Abstract

This study investigates the role of collaborative leadership in building effective learning communities within an Islamic educational institution, focusing on SMKN Tulungagung. The research addresses three main aspects: how collaborative leadership shapes educational management practices, how it supports the development of learning communities, and how both elements interact within the institutional context. A qualitative case study design was employed to capture in-depth perspectives from the principal, teachers, and administrative staff. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, observations, and document analysis, followed by thematic analysis. The findings reveal that collaborative leadership fosters shared decision-making, open communication, and collective responsibility, which strengthen coordination and accountability in educational management. Learning communities are developed through structured collaboration, professional dialogue, and reflective practice, contributing to improved instructional quality and teacher engagement. The study also identifies a dynamic interaction in which leadership enables collaboration, learning communities enhance instructional practices, and feedback from outcomes informs leadership strategies. These findings indicate that collaborative leadership is essential in sustaining effective learning communities and improving institutional performance in Islamic educational settings.

Abstract

Data transmission in digital communication systems is vulnerable to disturbances such as noise and interference, which may cause errors in the received information. Therefore, coding mechanisms are required to detect and correct such errors. This study investigates the construction of linear codes over the Galois ring of nine elements . The code is constructed as a submodule of length 4 with dimension 2 , meaning that all codewords are formed as linear combinations of two linearly independent generator vectors. Two generator matrices are employed to analyze the effect of generator structure on code performance. All generated codewords are computed and evaluated using Hamming weight and Hamming distance to determine the minimum distance. The results show that the code generated by the first generator matrix has a minimum distance 3, allowing it to detect up to two errors and correct one error. In contrast, the second generator matrix produces a code with minimum distance 2 , which can only detect a single error without a correction capability. This difference indicates that code performance is more influenced by the linear relationships among generator vectors than by the presence of zero divisors in the ring structure. This study highlights the importance of selecting appropriate generator matrices in constructing linear codes over finite rings and demonstrates the potential of Galois rings as an alternative framework in coding theory.

Abstract

This study evaluated the effects of colchicine concentration and soaking duration on vegetative morphology of French marigold (Tagetes patula L.) cv. Janie Spry, a naturally allotetraploid species (2n = 4x = 48). A 4×3 factorial completely randomized design was employed with four colchicine concentrations (0%, 0.1%, 0.2%, 0.3%) and three soaking durations (4, 8, 12 hours), totaling 12 treatments with three replications (n = 36). Germinated seeds at the radicle stage were soaked in colchicine solutions and grown in a greenhouse. Survival rate, plant height, stem diameter, and number of shoots were recorded during the vegetative phase. Two-way ANOVA revealed highly significant interaction effects (p<0.001) of concentration and duration on survival rate and shoot number, while plant height and stem diameter were not significantly affected. Survival declined sharply at higher concentrations with prolonged soaking, reaching only 30% at 0.3% colchicine for 12 hours. The 0.2% colchicine at 4-hour soaking treatment was identified as optimal, maintaining 90% survival while increasing shoot number by 37.7% relative to the control (30.7 vs. 22.3 shoots plant⁻¹). The highest shoot count (34.3 shoots plant⁻¹) occurred at 0.3% for 12 hours but was accompanied by unacceptable seedling mortality. These results indicate that moderate colchicine concentrations with short exposure offer an effective balance between morphological modification and seedling viability in T. patula. Cytological confirmation and floral trait evaluation will be reported in a subsequent publication.
