Abstract

The article reviews how historians can balance objectivity with subjectivity in their assessment of historical evidence, which is arguably the major theme in both historiography and in the philosophy of history: How does one write history with epistemic integrity while recognizing and accepting that the discipline is interpretively mediated? The article engages the theoretical work of Leopold von Ranke, E. H. Carr, Hayden White, Frank Ankersmit, and Michael Novick, while also placing their debates within broader philosophical and historiographical frameworks. The outcome of this discussion positions that objectivity and subjectivity are not mutually exclusive; that is, a disciplined acknowledgment of subjectivity, via reflexively engaging with sources, narrative decisions, and interpretative frameworks, enhances methodological rigor and provides a transparent history to the past. Thus, while the discussion is theoretical, examples of the reflexive subjectivity in action span from Ranke's work in the archives and diplomatic accounts to studies of Holocaust testimony and colonial memory. The study advances a model of disciplined subjectivity as a methodological bridge between objectivity and interpretation, enabling historians to produce coherent, transparent, and ethically responsible narratives

Abstract

Globalization has significantly reshaped contemporary education through digitalization, transnational knowledge circulation, and global normative frameworks, compelling Islamic education to adapt while preserving its moral and spiritual foundations. Although existing studies discuss globalization, Islamic education reform, and human rights separately, there remains a lack of systematic synthesis integrating these dimensions. This study addresses this gap by conducting a PRISMA-based Systematic Literature Review of peer-reviewed journal articles (2015–2025) indexed in Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar. Using thematic synthesis guided by the maqāṣid al-sharīʿah framework, the review analyzes how globalization drives paradigm shifts in Islamic education and shapes and mediates the integration of human rights principles. The findings reveal a transition toward learner-centered pedagogy, competency-based curricula, and adaptive institutional governance aligned with ḥifẓ al-ʿaql, while human rights integration remains uneven and often normative. Maqāṣid-based reasoning emerges as a key mediating framework that contextualizes human rights within Islamic educational values. The study highlights the need for maqāṣid-oriented policies and governance reforms to ensure that globalization and human rights advance intellectual development, dignity, justice, and moral responsibility in Islamic education.

Abstract

This research examines the effect of transformational leadership, organizational culture, and the quality of human resources on the effectiveness of achieving higher education institutions' missions, with group cohesion as a moderating variable. The study was conducted at IAIN Madura, employing a quantitative methodology, and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). Data were gathered through structured questionnaires distributed to academic and administrative staff. The results demonstrate that transformational leadership, organizational culture, and human resource quality significantly and positively influence institutional mission achievement. Furthermore, group cohesion enhances these relationships, highlighting its essential role in fostering a cohesive and goal-oriented organizational climate. These findings underscore the necessity of strategic leadership and a robust organizational culture in strengthening institutional performance. The study offers practical implications for academic leaders, emphasizing the importance of building group cohesion to amplify the effectiveness of leadership, organizational culture, and human resource quality. Future research is recommended to extend these findings by investigating the dynamics in different higher education settings and incorporating longitudinal approaches to explore the temporal impact of these variables.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a long term metabolic condition characterized by elevated blood glucose levels due to impaired insulin production, insulin action or both. The global rise in diabetes prevalence presents a major public health concern. This study utilized a dataset of 768 Diabetes Cases (No Diabetes (Type 1) = 500 Cases while Yes (Type 2) Diabetes Cases = 268 Cases) Obtained from Kaggle.com to explore the clinical and demographic predictors of diabetes mellitus using logistic regression analysis. Results revealed that glucose concentration, body mass index (BMI), diabetes pedigree function and number of pregnancies were the most significant predictors of diabetes. Elevated glucose emerged as he strongest predictor while obesity and hereditary risk substantially increased the likelihood of diabetes. The model demonstrated a good fit and moderate explanatory power, correctly classifying 78.3% of cases, though it performed better at identifying non-diabetic than diabetic individuals. Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) analysis confirmed glucose as the most discriminative variable followed by BMI and age whereas insulin, skin thickness and blood pressure contributed minimally. These findings reinforce the multifactorial etiology of diabetes emphasizing the combined influence of clinical, genetic and demographic factors in disease prediction. Clinically, the results suggest that regular monitoring of glucose levels, BMI and family history could enhance early detection and preventive management of diabetes in at risk populations.

Abstract

The implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum in Islamic Religious Education at Surya Buana Islamic Elementary School represents a significant shift from traditional lesson plans to structured teaching modules that emphasize flexibility and student-centered learning. This study aims to analyze how the school integrates the Merdeka Curriculum into Islamic Religious Education and how teachers adapt teaching modules to enhance learning quality and respond to diverse student needs. A qualitative approach was employed, using observation, interviews, and document analysis to obtain comprehensive data on curriculum implementation and classroom practices. The findings indicate that Surya Buana Islamic Elementary School has successfully implemented the Merdeka Curriculum by developing teaching modules that are flexible, contextual, and aligned with students’ developmental characteristics. Teachers apply interactive and differentiated learning strategies, which support students’ engagement, character development, and understanding of religious values. The transition from lesson plans to teaching modules has also improved instructional planning, allowing teachers to design more meaningful and adaptive learning experiences. The practical significance of this study lies in providing an empirical example of how the Merdeka Curriculum can be effectively implemented in Islamic Religious Education at the elementary level. The findings offer practical guidance for teachers and school leaders in designing teaching modules and implementing differentiated learning, and they may serve as a reference for other schools seeking to adopt and adapt the Merdeka Curriculum in religious education contexts.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the distribution of the golden apple snail (Pomacea canaliculata) and its ecological associations during the rice harvest stage (Oryza sativa L.) in Sumberaji Village, Kabuh District, Jombang Regency. Fieldwork was conducted from May to June 2025 using a descriptive quantitative design. Data were collected through purposive sampling across four observation plots, each measuring one square meter. Statistical analysis included Pearson correlation to assess the relationship between environmental variables and snail abundance, while the distribution patterns of temperature and pH were evaluated using the Chi-Square Goodness of Fit test. A total of fourteen individuals were recorded across all plots, resulting in an average density of 0.875 individuals per square meter. The highest abundance was observed in the second plot, where water temperature and pH were within the optimal ecological range. The lowest abundance occurred in the fourth plot, with only one individual recorded. Correlation analysis revealed no significant relationship between environmental factors and snail abundance (r = –0.28 for temperature; r = –0.31 for pH; p > 0.05). The Chi-Square test results indicated that the distribution of temperature (χ² = 0.097; p > 0.05) and pH (χ² = 0.065; p > 0.05) did not differ significantly from an even distribution pattern. These findings indicate that temperature and pH conditions at the study site were relatively homogeneous across plots and did not represent dominant determinants of golden apple snail distribution. Other ecological variables, including food availability, vegetation structure, and biotic interactions, are likely to exert a stronger influence on population variability.
