Abstract

This study explores the human dimension of digital transformation by examining what drives and hinders employee engagement across regions. Using a mixed method approach, the research investigates psychological factors such as self-efficacy, conscientiousness, and technostress and the role of adaptive leadership and human-centered design. The findings reveal regional disparities in engagement, with South Asia showing the most positive outcomes due to supportive policies and cultural cohesion. Self-efficacy and conscientiousness strengthen engagement, while technostress remains a major barrier. Adaptive leadership proves critical in sustaining engagement during organizational change, and human-centered frameworks such as the HOPE model enhance both well-being and efficiency. Overall, the study concludes that sustainable digital transformation requires an integrated approach that blends psychology, leadership, inclusive design, and alignment with local policies.

Abstract

This study examines how digital servant leadership (DSL) influences hackathon innovation performance in Indonesian State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs), with a focus on the mediating role of AKHLAK cultural values. Amidst ongoing digital transformation, SOEs have embraced DSL as a leadership style that emphasizes inclusivity, empowerment, and ethical service delivery. The study utilizes a mixed method approach comprising descriptive statistics and Structural Equation Modeling using Partial Least Squares (PLS SEM) to analyze quantitative and qualitative data gathered between November 2023 and January 2024. Key findings reveal that DSL significantly enhances innovation outcomes by fostering a psychologically safe, collaborative environment essential for successful hackathon execution. The presence of AKHLAK values Amanah, Kompeten, Harmonis, Loyal, Adaptif, and Kolaboratif strengthens cultural alignment, acting as a mediator that links leadership behaviors to employee engagement and innovation performance. Hackathons hosted by SOEs demonstrate varied formats, scales, and domains, yet all share critical success factors such as structured mentorship, inclusive participation, and strong post event support systems. The analysis of measurement and structural models shows robust construct validity and reliability across all latent variables. Convergent and discriminant validity meet accepted thresholds, while predictive relevance and model fit indices confirm the soundness of the proposed framework. Statistical mediation effects highlight the transformative impact of AKHLAK in linking DSL to performance gains in public service innovation. These findings contribute to public sector leadership theory and practice by proposing a replicable framework that combines digital servant leadership, AKHLAK-based cultural alignment, and participatory innovation formats. The Indonesian experience offers insights for other developing nations seeking to embed ethical leadership into digital transformation agendas. By institutionalizing values and enabling employee driven innovation, SOEs can better navigate complex governance landscapes while delivering measurable public value.

Abstract

The rapid pace of digital transformation has reshaped healthcare, finance, and energy sectors, creating opportunities for innovation while amplifying vulnerabilities to cyber threats. This narrative review synthesizes organizational responses to cybersecurity and innovation risk management across global contexts. Literature was systematically collected from Scopus, Web of Science, PubMed, and Google Scholar using defined keywords and inclusion criteria, with thematic synthesis guided by review standards. Four central themes emerged: (1) the effectiveness of secure access and identity management in protecting sensitive data, (2) the integration of artificial intelligence and blockchain in predictive modeling and threat detection, (3) measurable improvements in resilience through advanced technological adoption, and (4) the influence of systemic and structural factors, including governance frameworks and international collaboration. Evidence highlights disparities between developed and developing regions, where resource and infrastructure limitations hinder adoption. The discussion links findings with resilience theory while noting limitations such as the neglect of SMEs, dominance of Western perspectives, and reliance on secondary data. Policy implications emphasize capacity-building, harmonized frameworks, and innovation-driven cultures. Comprehensive, collaborative, and context-sensitive approaches are essential for advancing cybersecurity resilience in the digital era.

Abstract

The integration of research and development (R&D) with information technology (IT) strategies has become increasingly vital for high-tech firms in navigating global competition and rapid digitalization. This narrative review aims to evaluate how R&D–IT alignment influences innovation performance, organizational efficiency, and long-term competitiveness. A systematic narrative review approach was employed by analyzing peer-reviewed studies published in the last fifteen years that addressed R&D–IT interactions across various industries. The analysis focused on identifying key drivers, barriers, and systemic conditions shaping integration outcomes. Findings indicate that IT strategies consistently enhance R&D performance, demonstrated by increases in patent generation, shorter product development cycles, and improved customer satisfaction. Internal factors such as digital capabilities, transformational leadership, and innovation-oriented organizational culture further strengthen integration effectiveness. At the systemic level, supportive government policies, intellectual property protection, and stable regulatory frameworks provide enabling conditions for sustainable collaboration. Nevertheless, challenges including technological misalignment, cultural resistance, and limited infrastructure in developing economies remain significant obstacles. The implications of this review highlight the importance of policy incentives, workforce digital skill development, and stronger public–private collaborations to overcome systemic and organizational barriers. Future research should explore cultural and contextual dynamics in greater depth, particularly within emerging economies, to provide a more comprehensive understanding of how R&D–IT integration fosters sustainable innovation and competitiveness.
