Abstract

This research was motivated by the lack of media that supports the learning process. In addition, students want media that is fun and enjoyable. One solution is to design a monopoly game, so that students will be motivated to learn. The purpose of this research is to produce a valid monopoly game for flat shape material. This research is a development study using the Plomp model. The Plomp model consists of three stages, namely preliminary research, prototyping, and assessment. Data were collected through observation, interviews with educators and students, and validity questionnaires. This research only consisted of two stages, namely the preliminary research stage, which was a preliminary analysis in the form of a needs analysis, curriculum analysis, student characteristics analysis, concept analysis, and literature review analysis. In the prototyping stage, the product was designed based on the needs analysis data. Next, the product was validated by experts in the field. From the validation process, assessments were obtained from experts in material, media, and language, namely 85%, 88%, and 93%, which were categorized as highly valid.

Abstract

Abstract This study aims to analyze and compare the mathematical literacy skills of seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 3 Lengayang between class VII A and class VII B. Mathematical literacy refers to an individual’s ability to formulate, apply, and interpret mathematics in various real-life contexts. This research employed a quantitative approach using a descriptive comparative method. The research instrument was a mathematical literacy test consisting of contextual essay questions developed based on the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) mathematical literacy indicators. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and an independent samples t-test. The results showed that the average mathematical literacy score of students in class VII A was higher than that of students in class VII B. The t-test results indicated that the calculated t-value exceeded the critical t-value at the 0.05 significance level, indicating a significant difference in mathematical literacy skills between students of class VII A and class VII B. Abstract

Mathematical literacy is an essential competence in mathematics learning because it requires students to formulate, use, and interpret mathematical concepts in various real-life contexts. However, international studies indicate that Indonesian students’ mathematical literacy remains relatively low. One factor presumed to influence this ability is self-efficacy, namely students’ belief in their own ability to complete tasks. This study aimed to analyze the effect of self-efficacy on mathematical literacy skills in the topic of geometric transformations among ninth-grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Linggo Sari Baganti. This research employed a quantitative approach with a causal associative design using an ex post facto method. The research subjects were 30 students from class IX.4 selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a self-efficacy questionnaire and a mathematical literacy test in the form of contextual essay questions. Data analysis was conducted using normality and linearity tests, Product Moment correlation, and simple linear regression. The results showed that there was a positive and significant effect of self-efficacy on students’ mathematical literacy skills. Students with higher self-efficacy tended to demonstrate better ability in modeling problems, applying geometric transformation concepts, and interpreting solution results. These findings imply that improving students’ self-efficacy should be a concern in mathematics learning in order to support the enhancement of their mathematical literacy skills.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low level of understanding and learning outcomes of fifth-grade students in the topic of solid geometry, as indicated by low average scores, low learning mastery, and limited student participation in mathematics learning. The study aimed to improve students’ understanding through the implementation of the Cooperative Learning model supported by realia media in learning solid geometry. This research employed Classroom Action Research conducted in two cycles. The subjects of the study were 12 fifth-grade students of SDN 1 Balongrejo, while the object of the study was students’ understanding and learning outcomes in solid geometry. Data were collected through tests, observation, questionnaires, and documentation. The data were analyzed using descriptive quantitative and qualitative techniques. The results showed that the implementation of the Cooperative Learning model with realia media improved students’ learning outcomes, as reflected in the increase in the average score from 57.5 in the pre-cycle to 74 in Cycle I and 83 in Cycle II. The percentage of learning mastery also increased from 33.33% to 75.00% and 83.33%. The implication of this study is that cooperative learning supported by realia media can serve as an alternative mathematics teaching strategy that is more concrete, active, and meaningful for elementary school students.
