Abstract

The role of mothers in the family is very important in shaping the emotional and spiritual intelligence of children, which affects their moral, intellectual, psychological, and social development. Working mothers, especially factory workers, often face time constraints with their children that can diminish emotional attachment and affect cognitive and social development. However, effective communication and quality time can mitigate these negative impacts. The research uses a mixed methods approach with the population being working mothers who have children in TK Ananda 2 Kalongan and TK Harapan Kalirejo. The total population is 97 mothers at TK Ananda 2 Kalongan and 76 mothers at TK Harapan Kalirejo, with 40 respondents from each class. A sample of 40 was determined for each kindergarten. The results show a value of α < 0.05, indicating a significant difference between the communication styles of housewives and factory workers. The research findings on housewives indicated they used open assertive communication and allowed for discussion, while factory workers tended to use non-assertive communication due to limitations in time and energy

Abstract

This study aims to determine the Principal's policy for introducing digital literacy to students at TK Muslimat 17 Mathlabul Huda Lamongan, the challenges and opportunities in implementing the policy, the learning model used to introduce digital literacy. The study was conducted using a qualitative descriptive approach. Data collection was conducted through interviews, documentation, and observation. Data validity was tested by triangulating sources, time, and techniques. The results show that the principal's policy for introducing digital literacy is optimizing curriculum implementation. The challenges include limited infrastructure, the lack of education and training for introducing digital literacy in schools, not all parents are digitally literate, and parents' difficulties in guiding their children. Meanwhile, the opportunities include parents' willingness to participate in parenting and reflection activities, and support from internal and external stakeholders. The introduction of digital literacy is carried out using the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics) instructional model and collaborative learning model. The advantages of the STEAM model are that it can encourage critical thinking, creativity, collaboration and togetherness, helping to understand the relationship between concepts and the real world. The disadvantages are: it requires thorough technical and practical preparation, and takes a lot of time. The advantages of the collaborative learning model are: making it easier for teachers to introduce digital literacy with limited equipment, increasing responsibility, togetherness, social skills, motivation, courage and self-confidence. Meanwhile, the disadvantages are: it requires long time for preparation, supervision, guiding and learning, and can cause conflicts due to fighting over learning media.

Abstract

Online games are a form of digital entertainment widely favored by young children. Selecting games without considering their educational value and social emotional impact can create challenges for children’s development. This study aims to analyze the preferences of online game–enthusiast parents in choosing games to optimize their children’s social emotional development and to understand the effects of online games on early childhood social emotional growth. This research employed a qualitative case-study approach involving three online game enthusiast parents in Semarang City who have children aged 5–6 years. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings show that parents have distinct preferences in selecting games for their children, including their own personal interests, potential skill development, play duration, game reputation, guidance, safety, and age-appropriate content. In addition, children’s gameplay produced effects such as enhanced social interaction, cooperation, emotional regulation, and the emergence of positive emotions. The study recommends that parents be more actively involved in guiding and directing their children to ensure optimal socio-emotional development.

Abstract

This study examines the role of teachers in enhancing self-confidence among early childhood learners through project-based learning at Gaussian Kamil School Semarang. A qualitative descriptive method was used in this study. The participants of this study were teachers, the school principal and students from Kindergarten B at Gaussian Kamil School Semarang. Data were collected by means of observation, interviews and analysis of documents. The data were analyzed by using an interactive data analysis model, namely reduction, display, and conclusion drawing. The results of this study revealed that teachers played crucial roles of facilitators, motivators, and guides of students in their learning processes. How teachers organized students collaborative learning, assigned each child with roles in the project, encouraged students to present their work, and allowed students to explore their ideas by using loose parts, helped students to recognize their strengths and to be confident in their learning processes. students who were involved in project-based learning also developed their communication skills, critical thinking, and independence. Therefore, project-based learning provided students with meaningful opportunities to develop their self-confidence through their active involvement in learning processes and authentic learning experiences. Teachers played important roles in constructing learning environments where students felt valued, heard, and supported, and in which students self-confidence could be developed alongside other aspects of child development.
