Al-Irfan is a journal of Arabic Literature and Islamic Studies which is published Biannually on March and September by Arabic Literature Department, Sekolah Tinggi Agama Islam Darul Ulum Banyuanyar, Pamekasan. The journal covers language issues researched in the branches of applied linguistics, such as sociolinguistics, discourse analysis, critical discourse analysis, pragmatics, stylistics, corpus linguistics, translation, Education and others. In the area of literature, it covers literary history, literary theory, literary criticism and others, which may include written texts, movies and other media. And this journal also contains many varians of Isamic Studies, among others: Islamic education, the shariah, Islamic thought, economics, and other Islamic Studies.

Abstract

The command to adopt Arabic writing in Islam predates obligations such as prayer, fasting, zakat, and pilgrimage, which highlights its significance beyond mere ritual. This command, revealed during the earliest stages of the Prophet Muhammad’s mission, indicates that Arabic writing holds a crucial role in shaping Islamic civilization. The problem addressed in this study is the lack of comprehensive understanding regarding the foundational importance of Arabic writing in the development and expansion of Islamic culture and law. The objective is to examine the historical and functional roles of Arabic writing as a unifying tool for communication, governance, and the dissemination of Islamic teachings across diverse regions. The study employs a qualitative historical method, analyzing classical Islamic texts and early records of literacy practices to trace the evolution and influence of Arabic writing. The findings reveal that Arabic writing was instrumental in connecting societies, facilitating legal and administrative systems, and ensuring the accurate transmission of the Qur’an and Hadith. Moreover, evidence suggests that the Prophet Muhammad himself acknowledged its centrality by promoting literacy and, according to some traditions, acquiring the ability to write later in life. This research contributes to the broader understanding of the interplay between language, religion, and cultural identity in Islamic civilization. It underscores the idea that Arabic writing was not merely a linguistic tool but a pivotal instrument for the preservation and global dissemination of Islamic values and governance.

Abstract

In fact, theteachingof Arabic grammar had many problems, including: no interesting of students towards these subjects and the learning takes a long time. There are those who argue that grammar should not be studied specifically so that students will take it as a primary goal. Then one of the characteristics of grammar is in need of memorizing and analyzing strengths, this gives a negative thought that grammar is a difficult subject. Probably, those negative facts due to the absence of teaching methods that can make it easier, because the difficult subject is to definitely need an easy method. Tamyiz method tries to plant the thought that grammar is easy and fun, because the subjects and the activities inside composed of songs, applause, symbols and magic formula (mantra), so that it makes it easier for students to remember and memorize. It is interesting to study deeper in Ocean along the students who are generally adult, and, indeed,the differentstudents demandsthe different strategies. Tamyiz method colored with various movements of childhood that are not duly presented to adult students, but applying it to the adult students will need a special character of teachers, so that even the students are adults deign to follow the songs and all the contents of Tamyiz method. This research is a descriptive study using a qualitative approach. The data were collected through observation in the field, interviews and documentation. The method of analysis is using the method formulated by Miles &Huberman . The results of this research are : 1) Description of teaching grammar by Tamyiz method consists of learning objectives, the student is able to translate the Holy Quran, but it is not the understandable translation, but it is closer to the understanding of the meaning of the Holy Quran. Practice, such as songs, symbols, mantraand practices to translate the Holy Quran can help students in strengthening of understanding and memorizing subjects. In addition, the subjects are also arranged in a form easily to be memorized and understood. There are also some differences between the subjects of Tamyizand the subjects on ancient Arabic grammar, which aims to simplify. 2) The positive effects of this teaching are: 1) to plant the thoughts that grammar is an easy subject 2) students will be able to teach after they finish studying 3) learning grammar easily 4) understanding of the meaning of the Quran in the student’s futures.

Abstract

One of the greatest educational problems worldwide, and particularly in this country, is the moral crisis. Morality is the foundation of education; regardless of its progress and development, education cannot be accomplished without ethics. Recognizing the urgency of addressing this issue, scholars and thinkers have proposed solutions grounded in moral principles, among them the eminent scholar Abū Ḥāmid al-Ghazālī, widely known as Ḥujjat al-Islām. He devoted significant attention to ethics, as evidenced in his writings, especially in Iḥyāʾ ʿUlūm al-Dīn. This study focuses on one of his notable works, Ayyuhā al-Walad, to uncover his educational thought and its practical application. The research problem is defined as follows: What is al-Ghazālī’s educational concept, and how can it be applied? Accordingly, the study aims to explore al-Ghazālī’s educational philosophy and its relevance to contemporary moral challenges. The methodology applied is a library-based inductive approach, gathering primary sources—particularly Ayyuhā al-Walad—along with secondary references. The data were analyzed using a descriptive method to examine the phenomenon as it is and to provide a systematic interpretation. The findings reveal that al-Ghazālī emphasizes moral and spiritual education as the core of human development, advocating for self-discipline, sincerity, and the integration of knowledge with action. This research contributes to the broader discourse on moral education by presenting al-Ghazālī’s ideas as a timeless framework for addressing ethical decay in modern education, offering practical insights for educators and policymakers seeking to foster values-based learning.

Abstract

Berbicara mengenai sastra tentu tiada lepas dari pengarang dan masyarakat. Pengarang sebagai subjek karya sastra sedangkan masyarakat sebagai objeknya kemudian berkat seorang pengarang maka terciptalah sebuah karya sastra. Dalam kehidupan masyarakat tentu tiada bisa terlepas dari perseteruan ataupun konflik baik itu bersifat konflik antar pribadi atau perorangan maupun antar kelompok dan golongan. Seringkali seorang pengarang atau sastrawan mengangkat mengenai peristiwa sejarah yang bersifat fakta lalu dituangkannya ke dalam karya sastranya dalam hal ini adalah novel. Namun terlepas dari semua itu tidak bisa juga dikatakan bahwa semua karya sastra bersifat realita. Sebagaimana yang tercantum dalam novel Amal fī Sūriā karya seorang sastrawan perempuan asal Aleppo, Suriah yang bernama Dina Nasrini. Di dalam novel tersebut banyak sekali menceritakan mengenai konflik sosial ataupun peperangan yang terjadi di Suriah pada tahun 2011 lalu.Konflik tersebut bisa disebabkan oleh beberapa faktor baik itu ekonomi, politik,keagamaan dan sebagainya. Dalam melakukan penelitian ini, peneliti menggunakan pendekatan objektif dengan memberikan perhatian utama pada unsur-unsur yang terdapat di dalam teks cerita yang menjadi objek material dalam penelitian ini. Selain daripada itu, peneliti juga menggunakan metode deskriptif analisis yaitu dengan cara mendeskripsikan fakta-fakta yang kemudian di susul dengan analisis.1 Langkah yang akan ditempuh peneliti adalah membaca dan menghayati dengan seksama teks yang akan diteliti untuk mengungkapkan teks aspek social yang terjadi dalam novel tersebut. Ada dua teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Pertama, teori sastra Rene Wellek, sastra sebagai cerminan kenyataan. Sosiologi sastra sangat erat hubungannya dengan kehidupan masyarakat. Syawqi Dayf pun mengungkapkan bahwa tidak ada sastra tanpa adanya emanasi masyarakat. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa novel Amal fī Sūriā sarat sekali menggambarkan mengenai konflik sosial Suriah yang terjadi pada masa pemerintaha Bashar Assad di Suriah hal itu sangat terlihat dalam teks yang banyak sekali menggambarkan mengenai kekejaman-kekejaman yang dilakukan oleh Bashar Assad terhadap rakyat Suriah. Perbedaan dalam aspek ideologi, politik menjadi faktor utama yang menyebabkan konflik semakin meluas bahkan berujung pada peperangan sipil di Suriah. Melalui novel ini, pengarang telah memberikan gambaran bahwa rezim Assad merupakan salah satu contoh dari rezim yang otoriter, tiran dan juga diktator terhadap rakyatnya sendiri. Dan novel ini dapat menjadi cerminan mengenai peristiwa pada masanya yaitu masa pemerintahan Bashar Assad.

Abstract

Sastra dalam bahasa Arab disebut Al-Adab yang mempunyai makna kehalusan budi, adab dan sopan santun. Kemudian dalam perkembangan berikutnya berarti peninggalan perkataan dalam bentuk puisi dan prosa. Oleh karena itu, karya sastra adalah pengungkapan pengalaman seorang sastrawan dengan kata-kata yang inspiratif. Adapun pendekatan sastra dalam Al-Quran adalah pendekatan yang mengarah untuk menggugah perasaan pembaca secara rohani sehingga menimbulkan kegembiraan didalam jiwa, atau mendatangkan kepedihan sehingga menolaknya. Amin Al-Khuli memulai asumsinya dalam berinteraksi dengan Al-Quran melalui pendekatan dan sudut pandang sastra. Menurutnya, adalah sebuah fakta bahwa Al-Quran merupakan fakta bahasa dan sastra. Namun fakta ini bukan fakta yang mati, tetapi dinamis karena memiliki pengaruh yang jelas terhadap mereka yang menjadi sasaran pertama dari ujaran-ujarannya. AlQuran di sini dilihat sebagai apa adanya dalam kaitannya dengan masyarakat pertama kali menerimanya. Ia muncul dalam bingkai dialektika antara wahyu dengan realitas masyarakat pada saat itu

Abstract

Arabic literature has undergone such a long journey from the time of the beginning of the time of Jahili, the period of Islam, the period of Muawiyah service, Abasiah, the Ottoman dynasty, and the modern period until now. In each period of this development, Arabic literature experienced innovations that differentiated it from other periods. In the modern phase in particular, it turns out that Arabic literature has a variety of literary schools that have appeared alternately, both because of the motivation of criticism of the literary models that emerged before and because of refining other streams that emerged in the same period of time. The emergence of this neoclassical school was initially a reaction to Napoleon's arrival in Egypt in 1798, which marked the entry of French culture into the Arab world. This school also maintains strong Arabic poetry rules, for example the necessity to use wazan, qāfiyah, the number of words is very large, the uslūb is very strong, the themes still follow the previous period, such as madah, ritsa (lamentations), ghazal, fakhr, and the movement from one topic to another in one qasidah (ode) Problems raised in this study include: 1. What is the history of Arabic literature? 2. What are the factors that arouse Arabic literature? 3. Who are the pioneers of the neoclassical school? The results in this study are: 1. The history of Arabic literature has experienced such a long journey from the period beginning at the time of Jahili, the period of Islam, the period of Muawiyah's service, Abasiah, the Ottoman dynasty, and the modern period until now. During the Abbasid period there was a period of emotion in Arabic literature, and suffered a setback during the Ottoman period until the beginning of this phase since the reign of Muhammad Ali in Egypt after colonialization Francis ended in 1801. 2. The factors include: Al-Madaris (Schools), Al-Mathba'ah (Printing), Ash-Shuhuf / Al-Jaro'id (Newspaper), and Tarjamah.3.
