Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of interpersonal relationships on problematic internet use among adolescents in West Sumatra. Adolescents are an age group in a stage of social development that is vulnerable to various environmental influences, making interpersonal relationships an important factor in their daily lives. This study employed a quantitative approach using simple linear regression analysis to test the proposed hypothesis. The analysis results showed a significant influence of interpersonal relationships on problematic internet use, with a significance value of 0.000 (< 0.05) and a regression coefficient of -0.124. These findings indicate that the higher the quality of adolescents' interpersonal relationships, the lower their tendency to experience problematic internet use. However, the R Square value of 0.035 suggests that interpersonal relationships contribute only 3.5% to the tendency of problematic internet use, while the remaining 96.5% is influenced by other factors not examined in this study. These findings highlight the importance of strengthening interpersonal relationships as an effort to prevent problematic internet use among adolescents.

Abstract

The use of the internet has many benefits and also makes it easier for someone to do their work, in addition to the positive benefits, if it is used inappropriately it will trigger problems such as problematic internet use. Problematic internet use according to Demetrovis et al, (2008) is a condition where someone has difficulty controlling internet use. One of the factors causing problematic internet use is parental phubbing. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between parental phubbing and problematic internet use in adolescents in West Sumatra with 400 respondents selected using cluster sampling techniques from five randomly determined districts/cities. This research instrument was independently compiled by the researcher based on the theory put forward by Demetrovis et al, (2008) to measure problematic internet use, and Pancaniet al,(2021) to measure parental phubbing behavior. Based on the results of the Pearson product moment correlation test, the correlation value was obtained r = 0.192 and p = 0.00 (p <0.05) which indicates that there is a positive relationship between parental phubbing in parents and problematic internet use in adolescents in West Sumatra.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of coloring activities on fine motor skills in early childhood. Fine motor skills involve the coordination of small muscles, especially the hands and fingers, which are essential for children's readiness for later learning. This study used an experimental method, conducted using pre-tests and post-tests. The subjects were 19 children from a kindergarten/early childhood education program (TK/PAUD Bersama) in Simaninggir Village, Sosopan District, Padang Lawas Regency, with fine motor skills as the focus. Data collection techniques used were observation and documentation. The results showed a 20% increase in fine motor skills in the pre-test, with an increase of 80% in the post-test, with children achieving a maximum coloring score of 80. Therefore, coloring activities can be an effective learning strategy to stimulate fine motor development in early childhood education.
