Abstract

DHF is a deadly disease worldwide. The number of dengue cases in Indonesia is still very high. The spread of DHF is related to how the community maintains health and cleanliness of the environment. Tanggung Village routinely carries out inspections of mosquito larvae to eradicate mosquito nests. This service aims to examine mosquito larvae and the environment around residents’ RW 5, RT 1,2, and 3 homes and educate them regarding the Eradication of Mosquitoes Nests (PSN).The method used in this service was observing the environment around residents' homes, examining mosquito larvae in bathroom tubs, and providing education about PSN. As a result of this activity, it was found that nine houses had mosquito larvae, and 120 houses had no mosquito larvae. Residents' home environment is also clean. Education about 3M is provided to residents, especially those whose houses are positive for larvae, directly after examining the mosquito larvae. This mosquito larvae inspection activity and providing education is expected to prevent and reduce the incidence of DHF and increase the community's active role in maintaining environmental cleanliness.

Abstract

Indonesian women migrant workers in Taiwan face psychosocial stressors such as financial difficulties, social isolation, and limited access to mental health care. Despite their growing numbers, few community-based programs address early detection and resilience reinforcement within this population. This community-based program was conducted in December 2022 at a workforce agency in Taipei, Taiwan. Ten Indonesian women migrant workers participated in an online psychosocial screening using the Indonesian Ministry of Health questionnaire, followed by educational sessions on psychological distress and resilience, and a five-finger hypnosis technique for stress management. Pre- and post-tests were administered to assess knowledge and self-stress-management ability. More than half of the participants (55.6%) reported sleep difficulties, and 33.3% experienced tension or worry. Knowledge scores increased from a mean of 3.5 to 4.5 (mean difference = 1.0), and all participants demonstrated the ability to perform self-stress management (mean = 10/10). The program enhanced mental health awareness and self-regulation skills among Indonesian women migrant workers. Integrating early detection and resilience training into workforce agency programs is recommended to promote sustainable psychological well-being and community empowerment.

Abstract

Hyperglycemia is a condition that must be watched out for in diabetic patients because it can cause hyperglycemia severity. This community service aims to increase patients' knowledge of self-care and health protocols during the post-COVID-19 pandemic period. The purpose of this activity is to provide education by delivering materials and offering assistance with self-care and health protocols. Before providing the material, the patient's knowledge of self-care and health protocols will first be assessed. After providing material and mentoring, an evaluation was conducted to measure participants' knowledge again. The results show differences in the average, minimum, maximum, and mode values for self-care and health protocols. The value before education in order is an average of 67, a minimum of 50, a maximum of 94, and a mode of 72. The score after education has an average of 88, a minimum of 72, a maximum of 100, and a mode of 94. Education, through the provision of materials and mentoring, can increase patients' knowledge of DM. This requires attention from family and health workers, especially nurses, to help patients manage their illnesses.

Abstract

Breast cancer is the most prevalent cancer among Indonesian women and a leading cause of death. Despite national campaigns, awareness and early detection practices remain low due to limited literacy and cultural barriers. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of the SADARI SHIFA (Spiritual Health Integrated for Awareness) model in improving breast cancer awareness, integrating spiritual motivation, and empowering Women through Family Empowerment and Welfare/Pemberdayaan dan Kesejahteraan Keluarga (PKK) and Women Farmer Groups/ Kelompok Wanita Tani (KWT) in Pringsewu Regency, Indonesia. This mixed method community based participatory study involved 75 participants: 50 PKK cadres and 25 KWT members. Quantitative data were collected using pre–post knowledge tests and observation of SADARI practice. Qualitative data were obtained from semi structured interviews with 10 purposively selected participants to explore perceptions and experiences regarding the spiritualhealth integration. Quantitatively, knowledge scores increased from 54.0 to 84.1 (+30.1%), and 82% of participants could correctly perform all SADARI steps. Qualitatively, thematic analysis identified three dominant themes: (1) spiritual awareness as a motivator for selfcare, (2) enhanced emotional comfort through prayer and reflection, and (3) empowerment through community solidarity. Participants expressed reduced fear and increased responsibility to maintain health as a religious duty. The SADARI-SHIFA model effectively combines medical education, spirituality, and community participation to promote early breast cancer detection. The integration of qualitative insight strengthens understanding of its psychosocial impact and supports its scalability as a culturally appropriate innovation in women’s health promotion.

Abstract

Postpartum care is a crucial period in maintaining maternal health after childbirth. On Ternate Island, traditional postpartum care practices are still strongly maintained, with traditional birth attendants (mama biang) playing a central role in their implementation. However, some traditional practices can pose potential health risks if not balanced with modern medical knowledge. This situation underpins the implementation of a community service program aimed at empowering mama biang by improving health literacy and integrating traditional and modern practices in postpartum care. The program, conducted in June 2024, involved 20 participants in the Ternate Island District, primarily targeting mama biang. This program included: (a) education and training in culture-based health literacy, (b) mentoring in integrative practices in accordance with modern health principles without negating local values, and (c) the development and distribution of educational booklets. The results demonstrated increased knowledge and behavioral changes among mama biang in providing safer, cleaner, and evidence-based postpartum care. Furthermore, integrative health literacy education materials were produced that can be sustainably used in other regions. This program strengthens the synergy between local wisdom and modern health practices to improve maternal and infant health in island regions.

Abstract

Heart disease is one of the leading causes of preventable deaths through behavioral changes, especially the adoption of a healthy eating pattern. The Chronic Disease Management Program (Prolanis) group has a higher risk of cardiovascular disease, so appropriate and sustainable health education is needed. This community service activity aims to enhance the knowledge of Prolanis participants regarding heart disease prevention through nutrition education based on the "My Plate" concept. The community service activity employs an educational-participatory approach with a one-group pre-test post-test design. The activity was conducted on May 9, 2026, in the working area of Puskesmas Kampung Baru, Banggai Regency, involving 34 Prolanis participants. The intervention was carried out through health education using interactive lecture methods, discussions, leaflet media, and demonstrations of healthy eating patterns based on the "My Plate" concept. Evaluation was conducted by comparing participants' knowledge scores before and after the education using a paired t-test. The results showed an increase in the average knowledge score from 68.4 before the education to 78.6 after the education. The paired t-test analysis indicated a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test scores (p < 0.001). Nutrition education based on "My Plate" through an educative-participative approach is effective in increasing Prolanis participants' knowledge about heart disease prevention. Community-based health education activities need to be conducted continuously as a promotive and preventive effort against non-communicable diseases.

Abstract

This community service activity aimed to enhance earthquake preparedness knowledge of students at the Maluku Ministry of Health Polytechnic (Poltekkes Kemenkes Maluku) through interprofessional training. The activity was conducted on August 3, 6, and 7, 2026, involving 50 second-year students from five study programs (Nutritionists, Health Analyst, Nursing, Environmental Health, and Midwifery) in Poltekkes Maluku. The activity stages included coordination and obtaining permits, development of modules and evaluation instruments, a pre-test, material delivery by the Maluku Province Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), the Maluku Province Search and Rescue (SAR) Agency, and the service team, as well as interprofessional group discussions, role allocation, a dress rehearsal, evacuation and disaster response simulations, simulation evaluation, and a post-test. Data were analyzed descriptively using minimum and maximum values, the mean, and the standard deviation. The results showed an increase in the mean knowledge score of 17.52 points. This indicates that training combining education, interprofessional discussion, and simulation can improve students' knowledge regarding disaster preparedness.
