Abstract

Communication is an important aspect in the social life. They use language as means of communication to havegood interaction. Sometimes, when a message is needed to be express by someone, the form of the expression can be varied. It can be direct and indirect. From this form, someone express what they want and feel to theirhearer, therefore through their utterance, the hearer do something for them. An act that appears because of thespeaker’s utterance is called as Speech Acts. Speech Acts classified into five kinds and this research focuses onDirective Speech Acts (DSA). This research analysed the DSA form in literary work, The Night of the Burning. The aim of this research to identify the form of DSA in The Night of the Burning novel, therefore the researcher used Austin and Searle theory for speech acts, also Birner theory to DSA forms. The data were collected by using taking note and library method. This research shows that there are two forms of DSA that found in this novel. There are Direct and Indirect Speech Acts. Abstract

Eggshell duck is one of the ingredients that can be used for supplementation enriching calcium in food products. Corn flour and soybean (kejale) formulation have contribute to health. Enrichment of calcium with eggshell duck will be improve the quality kejale. This study aims to evaluate the levels of calcium and the sensory characteristics of cookies products, steamed cakes and kejale based cereals, enriched with eggshell duck as a source of calcium. The results showed that the enrichment treatment of eggshell duck influenced the calcium cookies, steamed cakes and cereals (p = 0,00). Levels of calcium cookies and steamed cakes are higher than cereals. The sensory characteristics showed that the enrichment of eggshell duck doesn’t affect the taste, smell and texture but affect the color. Being on eggshell duck affects the color, smell and texture, but no effect ontaste. Eggshell duck concentration at 15% concentration provides the highest levels of calcium and acceptablesensory characteristics. Keywords: Calcium, eggshell duck, sensory, corn flour, soybean flour

Abstract

Scale of calcium carbonate deposited on the pipe wall was investigatedin the present study. In the experimental work, the scale-forming solution was prepared by mixing equimolar solutions of CaCl2 and Na2CO3. The alumina was selected to inhibit the crystal growth. The scale growth was continuously observed by measuring the conductivity of the solution coming out of the pipe. Scale formed was then evaluated using SEM/EDX analysis. The result showed that the scale has a plate like morphology and the crystalline phase of the scale was found to be mostly calcite. The presence of alumina seems to change the morphology of the crystals from calcite into vaterite and aragonite amorphous. Keywords: simulator scale, calcium carbonate, alumina, amorphous
