Abstract

Secara kolonialisme, perempuan Jawa Islam secara keseluruhan menjadi komoditas Siti Walidah untuk membangun narasinya.[The Deconstruction of Siti Walidah's Subaltern Narration in DyahKalsitorini's Drama Script of Nyai AhmadDahlan (2017):Gayatri Spivak's Subaltern Approach] Islamic Javanese women were still deemed not to have the right to speak in Indonesia's pre-independence era. That was because they did not have cultural capital, capital, and theological capital. This research examines Siti Walidah as an Islamic Javanese woman narrated by a drama author as a character voicing the identity of an Islamic Javanese woman. This research used drama script of Nyai Ahmad Dahlan (2017) as the primary data with a deconstruction analysis method from Spivak on subaltern. The analysis technique was done by examining the subaltern voice narration of Islamic Javanese woman by the author which was then postponed the meaning of the narration. This research found that the narration of Siti Walidah to raise the subaltern voice of Islamic Javanese women who trapped in the patriarchal hegemony and colonialism. In colonialism, Islamic Javanese women as a whole became a commodity of Siti Walidah to build her narration. Keywords: subaltern; nationalis, political identity; Islam

Abstract

Early childhood is a critical period for the development of both the physical and mental of an individual. At this age, the growth of a child needs to be monitored so parents can provide correct treatment to their child. This paper depicts parents’ behaviour in accessing information regarding their preschool children’s growth and development and in boosting their storytelling activities as media to support literacy. This claim was revealed from a study because the prevalence of stunting and malnutrition remains high in recent years. The study applied two phases to gain its data, first using questionnaires involving 51 respondents from an urban area, then continuing with focus group discussion to get more profound evidence. The results indicated that parents are close to storytelling activities with their children. They also believe that literation on child growth and development is essential. However, the finding shows that the parents tend to use social media as the source of information and storytelling activities are not related to children’s growth and development. These findings provide preliminary support for policymakers to provide sufficient information through various media. The results also offer that fact storytelling can be used as media to educate parents and children regarding child development.

Abstract

Abstract

This paper provides information about the lexical system in articles of two national newspapers in providing information about the loss of Indonesian national football team in AFF Cup 2010. Every newspaper has its own style in providing information, thus through this paper the different way of writing can be seen from the words which are used in the articles. From two national newspapers, the data is taken and analyzed using descriptive quantitative method based on word and sentences classification. From the analysis, the structure of sentences is used as reminder that every language has specific symbol and forms. The result shows that newspaper A is more comprehensive in providing information than B. Newspaper A has more complex sentences and various words compare with the other one. From the words can also be seen that B only focus on how supporters suffered by the loss, instead of explaining the information about the loss itself.Kata Kunci : sintaksis, pilihan kata, media cetak
