Abstract

Family business research is compelling due to its significant contribution to the economy, particularly in developing countries like Indonesia. While innovation plays a crucial role in the sustainability of family businesses, its effectiveness is still influenced by succession, family involvement, and successor knowledge. Previous studies have indicated that family businesses are more innovative than non-family businesses; however, the relationship between family involvement and innovation remains inconsistent. Notably, 95% of private businesses in Indonesia are family-owned, contributing 25% to the GDP. Yet, only 30% survive into the second generation, and a mere 12% reach the third generation due to poor succession planning and weak innovation management. This research addresses the gap by developing the concept of New Family Business Value Creation (NFBVC) based on the Resource-Based View (RBV) and Sustainable Family Business Theory (SFBT) to optimize family resources for sustainable innovation. Utilizing an exploratory-predictive approach, the study involves 268 successors of small and medium-sized Batik family businesses and is analyzed using PLS-SEM. The findings are expected to provide theoretical and practical contributions to the sustainability of family businesses. This research highlights the critical role of successor knowledge, willingness, and parent-child cohesion in sustaining family businesses. By introducing New Family Business Value Creation (NFBVC), the study reinforces RBV and SFBT theories, demonstrating that Family Social Capital and value creation significantly enhance long-term business sustainability across generations. NFBVC serves as a key mediator in family business sustainability, enriching RBV and SFBT theories, and emphasizes moral-based value creation as essential for long-term business continuity across generations.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of green bond issuance on banking stability in Indonesia, emphasizing the moderating roles of capitalization and liquidity. Panel data from 47 commercial banks during the 2018–2023 period (282 bank-year observations) were analyzed using purposive sampling, with random effects, fixed effects, and OLS approaches employed. The results reveal that green bonds significantly enhance bank stability. Bank capitalization strengthens this positive effect, while liquidity weakens it. Furthermore, ROA contributes positively to stability, whereas inflation and GDP growth show no significant influence. The findings highlight that issuing green bonds alone is insufficient to improve bank stability without strong capital support. Thus, regulatory authorities should provide capital-based incentives, while bank management must strengthen capitalization and profitability to achieve sustainable financial benefits. This research contributes to financial literature by providing empirical evidence from emerging markets, particularly within the Indonesian banking system.

Abstract

Market Capitalisation is an important market indicator of the value of a company's shares. This study aims to analyze the role of banking growth in the relationship between the educational background of Islamic Supervisory Board (ISB) and market capitalism of Islamic banking in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. The samples of this research are 183 Islamic banks in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. Data was obtained from the ESGI database. The method used is Ordinary Least Squares and MRA to test the relationship between ISB educational background and market capitalisation and the role of banking growth as a moderating variable. The results show that the ISB educational background positively affects the market capitalisation of Islamic banks in the MENA region and the banking growth has succeeded in strengthening this effect. These findings offer insight to consider in establishing an Islamic supervisory board with a high educational background so that investor confidence becomes stronger in choosing their investments. These findings show the importance of a method of governance, transparency, and responsibility that an Islamic supervisory board must have so that its knowledge is appropriate to its field.
