Journal Of Science and Education (JSTE) is a scientific journal that was established in 2025. JSTE accepts scientific papers in the form of research reports (original research papers) with a focus on the development of issues of Science, Technology and Education in Indonesia. JSTE collaborates with the Yayasan Arfah BHMS institution in developing progress, especially in the fields of Science, Technology and Education. Although focused on the Indonesian region, JSTE does not rule out the possibility of publishing manuscripts that have correlative and/or comparable issues within the scope of the field.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of various learning models on students' mathematical communication skills through a systematic literature review (SLR) approach. This method is used to identify, evaluate, and interpret the entire research relevant to the specified topic. The search was carried out on scientific articles published in the period 2013–2023 from various accredited national journals and proceedings. Based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria, as many as 20 selected articles were analyzed in depth. The results of the analysis show that the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME), Connecting-Organizing-Reflecting-Extending (CORE), and scientific approaches have consistently had a positive impact on improving students' mathematical communication skills. Some studies have also combined RME with ethnomathematical contexts that show more effective results in improving overall aspects of mathematical communication, including the ability to convey ideas, formulate arguments, and interpret and present mathematical information. Thus, it can be concluded tentatively that constructivism-based learning models that are contextual and involve students' active participation tend to be more effective in developing their mathematical communication skills.

Abstract

Critical thinking skills are an important aspect of mathematics learning, which can be improved through a variety of learning approaches. This study aims to analyze the relationship between efforts to improve critical thinking skills and the application  of problem posing in mathematics learning. The method used is Systematic Literature Review by analyzing 15 research articles published in the 2018–2025 range and obtained through Google Scholar. The articles analyzed include elementary, junior high, high school, and equivalent education levels. Data were collected by examining research articles that discussed the impact  of problem posing on mathematical critical thinking skills. The results of the analysis show that problem posing contributes significantly to improving students' critical thinking skills in mathematics learning.

Abstract

Math problem-solving skills are essential skills that students must have to face academic and daily life challenges. One of the cognitive factors that plays an important role in improving this ability is metacognition, which is an individual's awareness and control of his or her own thought process. This study aims to analyze the role of metacognition in improving mathematical problem solving. The method used is Systematic Literature Review (SLR) by reviewing various empirical studies in the last five years. The results of the study showed that students with high levels of metacognition tended to be more effective in understanding, planning, and evaluating mathematical problem-solving strategies. In addition, the application of metacognitive strategies in learning can increase students' learning independence and critical thinking skills. The implications of this study confirm the importance of integrating metacognitive strategies in mathematics learning to improve students' problem-solving abilities optimally.

Abstract

Mathematics is a core subject in high school that plays an important role in developing students' logical and analytical thinking skills. However, abstract concepts such as building space are often challenges in themselves that have an impact on students' low learning outcomes. This study aims to identify, classify, and synthesize the results of previous research on the effectiveness of the use of teaching aids in improving mathematics learning outcomes in building materials at the high school level. The method used is the Systematic Literature Review (SLR), by examining 12 scientific articles published between 2015 and 2025, which meet certain inclusion criteria. The results of the study show that the use of teaching aids, both physical and digital, consistently has a positive impact on concept understanding, learning motivation, and student evaluation results. Teaching aids also make it easier for teachers to explain abstract concepts to be more concrete and easy to understand. Based on these findings, this study recommends the integration of teaching aids into the mathematics learning process, especially in building space materials, in order to improve the quality and learning outcomes of students at the high school level.

Abstract

Linguistic digital footprints on social media platforms have transformed into psychological biomarkers that offer real-time mental health screening opportunities. However, the main challenge in automated clinical text processing is semantic ambiguity and class imbalances (imbalanced datasets) that lead to predictive bias in conventional models. This study aims to develop a multiclass classification system for seven mental health categories (including Suicidal, Biopolar, and Anxiety) using a Deep Learning approach. The proposed method integrates Bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory (Bi-LSTM) architecture with Word Embedding to capture the context of a two-way narrative, as well as apply Class Weighting techniques to address data distribution disparities. The experiment was conducted on a public dataset containing 52,680 text entries. The test results showed that the model was able to overcome the majority bias very effectively, as evidenced by the high Recall values in critical classes such as Biopolar (0.84) and Suicidal (0.76), as well as an F1-Score of 0.91 in the Normal class. This study concludes that the Bi-LSTM architecture with adaptive class weighting is able to be an early warning system that is sensitive to high-risk disturbance signals.
