Abstract

Reading interest is one of the important indicators in improving the quality of human resources from an early age. However, the reality in the field shows that children's literacy culture, especially in rural areas such as Sambirejo Village, Jiwan District, Madiun Regency, is still relatively low. This community service activity aims to foster and develop children's reading interest by optimizing the function of Rumah Ilmu as a community-based literacy center. The approach used is Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD), which is a community empowerment approach that focuses on local strengths and potential. Activities are carried out through five main stages: discovery (identification of assets), dream (formulation of community expectations), design (action planning), define (program implementation), and destiny (evaluation and sustainability). The results of the activity show that strengthening the function of Rumah Ilmu is able to increase children's participation in routine reading activities, encourage community involvement, and create an inclusive and sustainable literacy space. The relocation of Rumah Ilmu to a more strategic location and a creative and fun mentoring approach are the keys to the success of this activity. With the support of local volunteers and active participation of residents, Rumah Ilmu has succeeded in becoming an agent of change in building a culture of literacy from an early age

Abstract

Rice blast disease, caused by Pyricularia oryzae, is one of the most destructive diseases in rice production, resulting in 15-20% yield losses in Indonesia. The Tunggulrejo Bangkit Farmer Group in Tuban Regency faced serious blast disease problems, with 80% of its members experiencing yield losses of 30-50%. This community service program aimed to provide mentoring for hexaconazole fungicide application to control blast disease and improve farmers' knowledge and income. The program was conducted from March to May 2025 using a Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) approach involving 25 farmers managing 32 hectares. The methodology consisted of five stages: initial survey, socialization and education, fungicide application training, demonstration plot establishment, and evaluation. The treatment plot received hexaconazole at 1.5 ml/L applied at 14, 35, and 55 days after planting, while the control plot used conventional practices. Results showed 78% control effectiveness, reducing blast disease intensity from 35-45% to 8-12%. Rice productivity increased 51% from 4.1 to 6.2 tons/ha. Farmers' knowledge scores improved from 55 to 85 points, with significant improvements in disease identification and fungicide application timing. Economic impact was highly favorable with additional net income of IDR 13,200,000 per hectare and benefit-cost ratio of 25.7. Technology adoption reached 85% in the subsequent season, demonstrating successful technology transfer and program sustainability

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the Hajj Ritual Assistance Plus program implemented by KBIHU As-Sa’diyah, Senori District, Tuban Regency, in improving the readiness of prospective pilgrims through innovative guidance methods. The research employs a qualitative case study approach to investigate the application and impact of the program in a real-world and contextual setting. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with KBIHU organizers, pilgrims, and related stakeholders, as well as direct observation of manasik hajj (ritual rehearsal) activities and the use of digital tools. The program incorporates experiential learning, digital-based materials (video tutorials and e-books), as well as online and offline consultation, aiming to build pilgrims’ mental, physical, and spiritual preparedness. The findings show that the program significantly improves pilgrims' understanding of hajj rituals, physical readiness, and spiritual awareness. Despite challenges such as limited access to digital tools for elderly participants and infrastructure constraints, the program presents a promising model for hajj preparation that could be adopted by other KBIHUs in Indonesia

Abstract

This study examines community empowerment by integrating Islamic values into the local wisdom of the Manganan tradition in Sembung Village, Parengan, Tuban. The Manganan tradition, a long-standing cultural practice rooted in communal togetherness and gratitude, has become an effective means of strengthening social cohesion and fostering religious awareness. Using the Participatory Action Research (PAR) method, this research highlights how Islamic teachings are embedded in the rituals, symbols, and communal activities of Manganan, transforming it into a platform for moral education, spiritual development, and community solidarity. The findings show that integrating Islamic values with local traditions not only preserves cultural heritage but also fosters active community participation, cooperation (gotong royong), and the internalization of religious values in daily life. This synergy between religion and culture contributes significantly to sustainable community development and the revitalization of local identity

Abstract

This community service project aimed to strengthen the institutional capacity of the Pesantren-Owned Enterprise (BUMP) at Pondok Pesantren Pangeran Diponegoro Yogyakarta as an effort to develop pesantren-based economic empowerment. Using participatory and collaborative approaches, the team conducted problem identification, managerial assistance, entrepreneurship training, development of standard operating procedures (SOP), and mapping of business legalization strategies. The results indicate that although BUMP's financial contribution remains limited, its social and functional impacts are significant—especially in supporting pesantren operations, improving access to essential services for the pesantren community, and serving as a platform for student entrepreneurship learning. Moreover, community involvement in managing business units has strengthened pesantren’s socio-economic relationships with its surrounding environment. Major challenges such as funding limitations, human resource management, and business legality remain critical areas for long-term improvement. This activity successfully increased institutional awareness, operational capacity, and opened future opportunities for BUMP to grow as a sustainable and inclusive pesantren economic model
