Abstract

Research Background: Agriculture in Asia faces challenges in meeting increasing food needs due to population growth. Conventional farming methods are often less efficient and unsustainable. Precision agricultural technology, especially the Internet of Things (IoT), offers solutions to significantly increase farm productivity and efficiency. Research Objectives: This research aims to explore the potential application of IoT technology in precision agriculture in Asia and analyze its impact on optimizing crop yields. Research Method: This research uses a case study approach by analyzing the implementation of IoT technology in precision agriculture in several Asian countries, such as China, India, and Indonesia. Data was collected through interviews with farmers, agricultural experts, related stakeholders, and field observations. esearch Results: Research results show that the application of IoT technology in precision agriculture in Asia provides significant benefits, including (1) monitoring soil conditions, weather, and plant growth in real-time, (2) optimizing the use of fertilizer and irrigation water, (3) early detection of pests and plant diseases, and (4) increasing the efficiency of agricultural management. In addition, this research found that adopting IoT technology still needs to be improved by factors such as limited infrastructure, initial investment costs, and human resource readiness. Research Conclusion: It can be concluded that IoT technology has great potential in supporting the precision agriculture revolution in Asia. Its implementation can optimize crop yields through more efficient and sustainable agricultural management. However, systematic efforts are needed to overcome challenges in implementing IoT technology in the farming sector, such as infrastructure investment, human resource training, and supporting policies from the government.

Abstract

Tropical forests, rich in biodiversity and critical to global ecological balance, face severe threats from deforestation, climate change, and unsustainable exploitation. These forests are essential for carbon sequestration, climate regulation, and the livelihoods of millions of people. Effective management that balances conservation with sustainable utilization is imperative to address these challenges. This study aims to explore and evaluate innovative approaches to tropical forest management that integrate conservation and utilization. The goal is to identify strategies that enhance biodiversity, support local communities, and contribute to global environmental objectives. The research employs a comprehensive literature review and case study analysis. It examines community-based forest management (CBFM), sustainable utilization techniques, technological innovations, and policy frameworks. Data sources include scientific journals, policy reports, and case studies from tropical regions such as the Amazon, Southeast Asia, and Central Africa. The findings highlight successful integrative strategies such as CBFM, which involves local communities in forest governance and benefit-sharing. Agroforestry and the sustainable harvest of non-timber forest products (NTFPs) are shown to enhance biodiversity and economic returns. Technological advancements like remote sensing, GIS, and drones significantly improve forest monitoring and management. Effective policy frameworks and international cooperation are critical to the success of these approaches. Integrative approaches to tropical forest management that combine conservation and sustainable utilization are vital for the resilience and productivity of these ecosystems. Engaging local communities, leveraging technology, and strengthening policies are essential to achieving sustainable outcomes. Continued research and collaboration are necessary to refine these strategies and ensure their effectiveness in diverse tropical contexts.

Abstract

Tropical forests are critical to global biodiversity and climate regulation, yet they face significant threats from deforestation, climate change, and unsustainable practices. Current management approaches often address these challenges in collaboration, leading to fragmented and effective strategies. This study aims to develop a holistic framework for planning and managing tropical forest resources. The goal is to integrate ecological, social, and economic dimensions to create a comprehensive strategy that enhances forest conservation and sustainable utilization. The research employs a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative and quantitative data collection. A comprehensive literature review was conducted to identify existing frameworks and gaps. Case studies from tropical regions, including the Amazon, Southeast Asia, and Central Africa, were analyzed. Surveys and interviews with forest managers, local communities, and policymakers provided additional insights. The findings reveal that integrated management approaches considering ecological, social, and economic factors are more effective in achieving sustainable outcomes. Community-based Forest Management (CBFM) practices, supported by technological innovations and robust policy frameworks, significantly enhance forest conservation and utilization. Case studies demonstrate the practical application and benefits of a holistic management approach. A holistic framework for tropical forest management that integrates conservation and utilization strategies is essential for sustaining biodiversity and supporting local communities. The study highlights the importance of community engagement, technological advancements, and supportive policies. Future research should focus on refining this framework and addressing region-specific challenges to ensure its broad applicability and effectiveness.

Abstract

This study presents a comprehensive analysis of the average Land Surface Temperature (LST) of Java Island, Indonesia, for the year 2024, utilizing the reduceRegions function in Google Earth Engine (GEE). Rapid urbanization and environmental changes on Java Island have significant implications for its climate and thermal conditions, necessitating effective monitoring and analysis of LST. The research employs satellite-based remote sensing techniques to assess the relationship between vegetation cover and surface temperatures, revealing that areas with higher vegetation density tend to exhibit lower surface temperatures. This finding aligns with previous studies, underscoring the importance of green spaces in urban environments. The analysis not only contributes to a deeper understanding of Java Island's environmental dynamics but also provides critical insights for policymakers and urban planners. The results can inform strategies for climate adaptation and sustainable development, addressing ongoing environmental challenges. Limitations of the study are acknowledged, and recommendations for future research are proposed, emphasizing the need for continued exploration of LST variations in relation to urbanization and climate change. Overall, this research serves as a valuable resource for enhancing environmental management practices on Java Island and similar regions facing rapid development.

Abstract

This research explores the impact of climate change on increasing land surface temperature (LST) in Indonesia, which has shown a significant upward trend in recent decades. Using a systematic literature review, the research analyzed 50 relevant studies, identifying factors such as deforestation, urbanization, and greenhouse gas emissions as the main causes of increased LST. The research also highlights the serious implications of temperature change on agriculture, public health and water resources, which could lead to food insecurity and increased health risks. In addition, the research emphasizes the importance of understanding public attitudes and beliefs towards climate change to formulate effective policies. With an interdisciplinary approach, the results of this research aim to provide insights for policymakers and stakeholders in developing sustainable mitigation strategies, as well as increasing community resilience to the impacts of climate change in Indonesia.
