Abstract

This research aims to discuss the solution offered by the Qana’ah hadith in mitigating Fear of Missing Out (Fomo). This study employs a qualitative approach using the method of interpreting the Qana’ah hadith as a solution to suppress the Fear of Missing Out (Fomo) phenomenon. The results and discussion in this study reveal that Fear of Missing Out, often termed (Fomo), is a symptom of social anxiety arising from the fear of missing out on information, trends, or social activities, especially those spread through digital media. Fomo also impacts mental health, encourages consumptive behavior, and reduces individual satisfaction and inner peace. In this context, the value of Qana’ah (the attitude of feeling content and being pleased with the sustenance granted by Allah) can be used as a spiritual solution to mitigate the Fomo phenomenon, which is the objective of this study. This research concludes that the interpretation of the Qana’ah hadith regarding the Fear of Missing Out (Fomo) phenomenon can be used as a spiritual solution or as a remedy for the Fear of Missing Out (Fomo) ailment.

Abstract

Claw machines have become a popular form of modern entertainment in various shopping centers. However, the game's mechanism, which relies on uncertainty, often raises questions regarding its legal status from the perspective of Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh) regarding transactions, particularly regarding the element of gharar (intransitiveness). This study aims to analyze transaction practices in claw machine games through the Ma'ānī al-Ḥadīth approach, focusing on the prohibition of gharar as stipulated in the hadith narrated by Muslim. This article discusses the concept of gharar from an Islamic legal perspective and its relevance to modern gaming practices such as claw machines. In transactions, gharar arises when the contract contains elements of speculation and uncertainty, contrary to the principle of exchange contracts that require clarity of object, price, and time. The Prophet's hadith prohibiting the sale of "fish in water" serves as the basis for affirming the prohibition of speculative transactions. This article examines the relevance of this prohibition to claw machines, where players pay for uncertain and often opaque prizes, thus resembling transactions containing gharar. The discussion covers various forms of gharar, such as gharar in the contract, the object of the transaction, the non-existence or non-deliverability of the goods, the uncertainty of the price, and the uncertainty of the time of delivery. Thus, this article asserts that the speculative and uncertain elements present in claw machines bear similarities to the practice of gharar, which is prohibited in Islam.

Abstract

Respecting others is a behavioral pattern established in Islamic law to uphold human dignity. The antonym of this act is cursing, which is clearly prohibited in Surah al-Hujurāt: 11. The prohibition against cursing others is not only directed at living people but also at the deceased, as stated in the hadith. However, the author also found hadith indicating the permissibility of cursing the deceased, making the two aspects and their overt intent contradictory. The author used a qualitative method with a descriptive-analytical approach and content analysis. This research aimed to answer the following research questions: How is the wording of hadiths on cursing the deceased interpreted? And how is the interpretation of these hadiths analyzed? The aim was to identify and analyze these hadiths to extract their essence and implied meaning. This research provides an understanding that the hadiths on this topic are not contradictory, but rather point to the specificity within the generality. Furthermore, the law prohibits cursing the deceased, except in certain aspects that trigger public interest, such as testimony.

Abstract

Slametan is understood not simply as a social ritual, but as a symbolic space where the values of the Prophet Muhammad's hadith are revived and reinterpreted within the Javanese cultural context. This study aims to understand the phenomenon of Living Hadith in the Javanese slametan tradition. Living Hadith is a form of actualization of the values of the Prophet Muhammad's hadith within the local cultural context, highlighting how the hadith text is practiced and internalized in the social life of the community. The slametan tradition, as a religious expression of the Javanese community, reflects the internalization of Islamic values through contextual interpretations rich in social and spiritual meaning. This study uses a qualitative phenomenological approach with participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The results show that the interpretation of hadith by the Javanese community is contextual and symbolic, not merely textual. The slametan tradition serves as a means to strengthen social solidarity, express gratitude, and demonstrate love for the Prophet Muhammad. Through this tradition, Javanese society affirms its religious identity in an inclusive and harmonious manner. These findings enrich the contextual study of hadith and broaden understanding of the dynamic relationship between religion and culture in the Indonesian archipelago.

Abstract

This study examines the hadith qudsi in Sahih Bukhari, which explains the virtue of intention, deed, and how to draw closer to Allah SWT. The phenomenon demonstrated that the desire to perform good deeds is often hampered by various factors, necessitating a comprehensive understanding of the value of intention and deed in Islam. This study aims to motivate and provide understanding to Muslims to remain consistent in performing good deeds and strengthen their spiritual closeness to Allah SWT. The method used is library research with a descriptive-analytical approach. The primary source in this study is the book Qawā‘id al-Taḥdīṡ, while secondary sources include books of hadith, hadith commentaries, books, and relevant journal articles. The results of the study indicate that the first hadith emphasizes the urgency of intention in every deed, where good intentions that have not been realized are still recorded as rewards, good deeds performed are multiplied in reward, and bad intentions abandoned out of fear of Allah SWT are considered good. Conversely, bad intentions abandoned for reasons other than Allah are still recorded as bad. The second hadith emphasizes that obligatory deeds are the deeds most loved by Allah SWT and are the main foundation for getting closer to Him, while sunnah deeds function as perfection that leads a servant to the love of Allah SWT. Thus, both hadith provide important guidelines on the priority of improving intentions, consistency in carrying out obligatory worship, and increasing sunnah deeds as an effort to gain the pleasure, love, and protection of Allah SWT.
