Abstract

This study investigates the risks faced by patients as a result of human errors committed by medical record officers in the context of Indonesian healthcare institutions. While previous research has explored the impact of administrative mistakes in medical recordkeeping, few have analyzed their legal and clinical consequences within a rapidly digitalizing healthcare system. This research addresses that gap by evaluating both the causes and effects of human error, particularly during the transition from manual to electronic medical records mandated by the Ministry of Health. Using a qualitative literature review method, this study synthesizes data from various international and national studies conducted between 2020 and 2025. The analysis reveals that human errors stem from individual factors such as fatigue and insufficient training, systemic factors like incomplete standard operating procedures and high workloads, and institutional issues involving poor supervision and punitive organizational culture. These errors not only jeopardize patient safety—leading to misdiagnosis, treatment delays, and privacy breaches—but also expose staff to legal and professional sanctions. The study contributes a novel perspective by integrating legal risk analysis with human factors in medical record management, emphasizing the urgent need for multidimensional policy reforms and continuous professional training to safeguard both patients and healthcare providers.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the legal and ethical protection mechanisms available topatients undergoing telesurgery—robotic surgical procedures conducted remotely viatelecommunication systems. Positioned within the emerging discourse on medical law indigital healthcare, this research addresses a critical regulatory gap as telesurgery becomesincreasingly globalized yet lacks adequate international legal instruments. Through aqualitative doctrinal approach using library research, this study synthesizes literaturefrom legal, ethical, and biomedical sources to explore five primary questions, includinginformed consent adequacy, cross-border regulatory barriers, and the distribution ofliability in system failures. The findings reveal that current legal systems in both developedand developing nations are not sufficiently equipped to guarantee patient safety and rightsin telesurgical contexts. Notably, the absence of cross-jurisdictional regulations, coupledwith limited public understanding of technological risks, contributes to systemicvulnerability. The study offers a novel contribution by proposing a multi-layeredregulatory framework integrating national health law, international medical ethics, andprivate-sector accountability. This integrative model ensures that telesurgery evolves asnot only a technological innovation but also a legally and ethically responsible medicalpractice

Abstract

The digital era has brought artificial intelligence (AI) as a significant innovation that is transforming the way students learn in higher educa-tion. This study aims to examine the benefits, challenges, and strategies for utilizing AI in higher education through a systematic literature review using the PRISMA method. The analysis results show that AI can improve the accessibility and quality of learning through person-alized materials, automated evaluation, and technology-based interactive learning support such as chatbots, virtual assistants, and augmented reality. The implementation of AI also encourages better time management, increases student motivation to learn, conceptual understanding, and problem-solving skills. However, the use of AI poses serious challenges such as the risk of dependency, decreased critical thinking skills, data privacy issues, and the potential for plagiarism. Therefore, a balanced approach is needed between the use of technology and the strengthening of ethical values, including the development of regulations, increasing digital literacy, and training educators to optimize the wise use of AI. The conclusion of this study confirms that AI, when properly integrated, not only strengthens the effectiveness of learning but also prepares students to become adaptive, creative, and ethical graduates in facing the demands of the digital era.

Abstract

Errors in the medication administration process are a form of medication error that has the potential to jeopardize patient safety. Nurses as health workers who are directly responsible for these actions have legal, ethical, and professional obligations in their implementation. This study aims to identify the factors that cause nurses' negligence in reading drug prescriptions and examine the forms of legal risks that may arise as a result of such negligence. Qualitative descriptive method was used in this study. Various literatures, such as books, journals, and regulations, were analyzed. The study showed that medication errors can be caused by illegible prescription writing, similarity of drug names, high workload, lack of training, and lack of interprofessional coordination. The legal risks that can be imposed on nurses fall into two categories, namely administrative sanctions and criminal sanctions.  Negligence in reading drug prescriptions not only risks endangering patients clinically but also poses serious legal consequences for nurses. Therefore, nurses need to carry out their duties with care and always comply with professional standards to reduce the risk of errors while protecting themselves from lawsuits.

Abstract

Implementing infection control protocols is a crucial step in protecting nurses as the frontline workers in healthcare. Hospitals, as healthcare facilities, face a high risk of infection, making disciplined adherence to health protocols crucial. These protocols must be implemented in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in force at each institution, which serve as guidelines for safe and professional work practices. However, various challenges can hinder nurses' adherence to established protocols. Factors such as workload, facility availability, weak supervision, and an incompletely established work safety culture are all obstacles that require attention. Furthermore, leadership and communication within the team are crucial for the successful implementation of these protocols. Understanding the various aspects that influence adherence to infection control protocols is expected to create a safer work environment and improve the quality of healthcare services for both patients and healthcare workers. Proper infection control is not only a procedural obligation but also a moral responsibility to ensure shared safety.

Abstract

Harassment of nursing students during field practice has become a serious issue threatening the comfort and safety of the learning process. This phenomenon is influenced not only by the imbalance of power relations and the persistent patriarchal culture, but also by the suboptimal legal and institutional protections in educational and healthcare environments. This study aims to identify the factors causing harassment against nursing students and evaluate the protective efforts provided by educational institutions and healthcare facilities. The method used is qualitative with a literature study approach, examining various laws and related literature to obtain a comprehensive picture of the issue. The research results show that although there are regulations such as Law Number 12 of 2022 concerning Sexual Violence Crimes and the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Regulation Number 30 of 2021 concerning the Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence in Higher Education, the implementation on the ground is still not optimal. Structural factors, a work culture that is not supportive, and a lack of reporting systems are the main obstacles. Institutional protection efforts are still administrative in nature and have yet to be fully integrated between educational institutions and health facilities. The implications of this research emphasize the importance of strengthening inter-agency coordination, increasing awareness and sensitivity training regarding harassment issues, and developing stricter and more comprehensive policies. Educational institutions and health facilities must work together to create a safe and violence-free practice environment.

Abstract

This study analyzes the factors that encourage patients to make self-referrals, and examines the legal responsibilities related to complications or deaths in the process. In addition, this study examines the legal protection for hospitals that follow standard procedures. The methods used are literature studies and analysis of laws and regulations. The results of the study indicate that self-referral functions as a mechanism for delegating tasks in structured health services, aiming to ensure that patients receive services that are in accordance with their medical needs. Factors that influence self-referrals include family perceptions of the patient's condition, previous service experiences, and social and economic factors. However, hospitals still have an obligation to provide accurate information and carry out initial treatment before referring patients. Legal protection for hospitals is provided if they have carried out standard medical procedures and obtained written consent from the patient or their family. Therefore, documentation of medical actions and education to patients are important aspects in minimizing possible legal risks.
