Abstract

This study aims to develop Student Worksheets (LKPD) assisted by e-comics in the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model to improve the mathematical literacy of seventh grade students. The background of this study is the low mathematical literacy skills of students in data and diagram materials that require the skills of understanding, interpreting, and using mathematical concepts in everyday contexts. The research method used was Research and Development (R&D) with a 4-D development model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate). The research subjects were seventh-grade students at a junior high school in Klaten. The instruments used included expert validation sheets, student response questionnaires, and mathematical literacy tests. The results showed that the e-comic-assisted LKPD developed had a validity level of 92.02% in terms of media and 92.76% (highly valid) in terms of material. The practicality test conducted by teachers yielded a result of 86.25% (practical), while the practicality test conducted by students yielded a result of 83.38% (practical. The average Gain Score obtained was 0.59, which falls into the effective category. Furthermore, the classical mastery results were in the very high category. Thus, e-comic-assisted worksheets in the PBL model are effective in improving mathematical literacy. Therefore, these worksheets are suitable for use as an innovative learning resource to support contextual, interesting, and student-centered mathematics learning.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

The constructivist teaching theory has gained a new status in contemporary teaching practice, emphasizing the role of the learner in the process of meaning production as the result of his or her active involvement, reflection and dialogue. Theoretically, this approach has merit, but there is a lack of empirical studies regarding constructivist strategies to be applied in deep learning in teachers' practices. This is a qualitative phenomenological study which examines how 12 teachers in their secondary and higher education level classrooms implement constructivist theory in practice. The research methodology is semi-structured interviews, observations in the classroom, and document analysis to gain insight into teacher interpretations, teaching strategies and difficulties in implementing this research. It is found that the meaningfulness constructivist implementation needs inquiry-based learning, collaborative problem solving, scaffolding, and reflective learning. However, structural problems such as large classes, curriculum overload and assessment issues still pose a serious problem for authentic adoption. The findings of this study present empirical evidence on the constructivism-deep learning construct relationship and evidence-informed implications for teacher development, curriculum reform and educational policy.

Abstract

Children with physical disabilities in public primary schools often face unique psychological challenges, particularly regarding the development of their self-esteem. The study investigated the effects of counseling services on the growth of self-esteem in children with physical disabilities within public primary schools in Anambra State. Utilizing a descriptive survey research design, data were collected from a purposive sample of 100 respondents using a structured 4-point Likert questionnaire. Data analysis was conducted via SPSS, employing Pearson correlation, simple regression, and hierarchical multiple regression. A significant positive relationship was found between counseling services and self-esteem development, where r equals 0.506 and p equals 0.000. Regression analysis confirmed counseling services significantly predicted self-esteem, accounting for 25.6 percent of its development, with R squared at 0.256, F at 33.740, and p at 0.000. Demographic factors did not significantly moderate this relationship, as gender showed p at 0.359, age showed p at 0.549, and class level showed p at 0.675. Counseling services are crucial for increasing self-esteem among physically disabled children, independent of demographic factors. Consequently, schools should intensify counseling programs to enhance the mental health of these learners.
