Abstract

This study was aimed at testing the Literacy-Acquisition Reading-Writing model against the Traditional model, the Cantol Raudhoh model (CR), the Phonic model, and and the Rapid Reading model in the learning of reading for children of 3-6 years of age. The study was carried out using an experimental design (pretest-posttest control group design). Subjects were grouped into age-groups of 3-4 years, 4-5 years, and 5-6 years. The results of the study showed that (a) compared to the Traditional model, BTAL was better in all components of reading and writing for all levels of ages, except for the BTR component for children of 5-6 years; (b) compared to the Cantol Raudhoh (CR) model, BTAL was better in the components of BTP, reading interest, writing interest, symbol sensitivity, and writing foundation, but not of BTR and reading foundation; (c) compared to the Phonic model, BTAL was better in almost all components of reading and writing for all levels of ages except for the BTR component for children of 3-4 years; and (d) compared to the CCBM model, BTAL was better in all components for all levels of ages

Abstract

This study was aimed at finding out the results of the Education Decentralization Program implemented by the Government through the Decentralized Basic Education Project (DBEP). DBEP was a primary education decentralization project utilizing a loan fund from Asian Development Bank (ADB) and APBN/APBD aimed at increasing access and education quality for the poor society. The study took place at Jembrana Regency, in Bali Province, which had biggest count of poor population. Results showed that there was education quality improvement before and after the implementation of the education decentralization program. Based on mean difference statistical test, it could be concluded that there was significant difference in It was concluded that the primary education decentralization program had given a significant influence on the improvement of education quality in Jembrana Regency

Abstract

The aim of this study was to find out whether the integrated learning model through the functional approach could improve the students academic achievement in the Histology subject. This action research was done in three cycles during the second semester of the 2007/2008 academic year. Each cycle consisted of four activities: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The participants of the study were PJKR students of B Group of the Histology class. The research instruments were field notes, practicum worksheets, and tests. Data were analyzed descriptively. Results of the study indicated that: (1) the integrated learning model through the functional approach improved the students academic achievement in the Histology class; and (2) the most effective learning strategies in the Histology class were conducted in three steps: (a) explanation of the three dimension structure before the two dimension structure, (b) laboratory practice focused on identification of Histology specimen through active learning , (c) small group discussion with subject matter informed one week before the class. Abstract

The aim of this study was to improve the learning effectiveness of both learning process quality and standard competency achievement in the application of the competency-based contextual learning model in the Cooling Technique and Air Management class. The study was conducted in Elekctrical Department of Engineering Faculty of Yogyakarta State University. The study was classroom action research involving several cycles. Each cycle consisted of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were 13 D3 students who took the subject of the Cooling Technique and Air Management during the odd semester in the academic year of 2008/2009. Data were gathered using questionnaires, observation, tests, and tasks or quizzes. Data analysis was descriptive using percentages. The results showed that the use of the competency-based contextual learning model on the subject of Cooling Technique and Air Management was able to improve learning effectiveness of both the process and output of learning.
