Abstract

: Adherence to lifelong antiretroviral (ARV) therapy for people living with HIV/AIDS (PLHIV) is crucial to suppress the progression of HIV and prevent transmission to others. Data from the Jambi City Health Office show that out of 335 PLHIV referred to Simpang Kawat Public Health Center, only 222 individuals (66.2%) regularly adhere to ARV treatment. This study aims to identify the determinants of ARV adherence among PLHIV at Simpang Kawat Public Health Center, Jambi City, in 2024. The research was conducted from April to June 2024 with a sample of 63 individuals. Univariate and bivariate data analyses revealed significant relationships between ARV knowledge, family support, side effects, comorbidities, and the length of therapy with ARV adherence. However, age, gender, and education level were not significantly associated. These findings highlight the importance of more targeted education and social support approaches to improve PLHIV adherence. A holistic approach to addressing medication side effects and increasing family involvement will support the long-term success of the therapy.

Abstract

The performance of nurses at RSUD H. Abdurrahman Sayoeti Jambi City is still not optimal. Based on nurse performance recapitulation data from January to December 2023, the achievement of nurse performance has not been maximally realised, with the expected target being 100% of nurses having excellent performance, but in reality it has not been achieved. This decline in performance can affect the level of patient and family satisfaction, as well as the quality of hospital services. This study aims to analyse the influence of individual, psychological, and organisational factors on nurse performance at H. Abdurrahman Sayoeti Hospital, Jambi City in 2024. This study used a quantitative method with a Cross Sectional design and involved 33 nurses selected using the Total Sampling technique. The results showed that factors such as tenure, attitude, motivation, leadership, and rewards had a significant relationship with nurses' performance, while age and gender showed no significant relationship. Of all the factors, motivation is the most dominant factor affecting nurses' performance. Therefore, it is important for hospitals to pay attention to strengthening nurses‘ motivation and positive attitude through the development of supportive programmes, such as more structured training and rewards, as well as effective leadership, to ensure nurses’ performance can be continuously improved in line with better service quality.

Abstract

Stunting is a serious problem that must be addressed because it has an impact on the quality of human resources that will be dated. The prevalence of stunting cases in Indonesia in 2022 has decreased compared to 2021, which was 21.6%. However, this figure is still above the government's expectations which determine a decrease of up to 14% in 2024. This determination requires comprehensive handling from various parties in reducing the incidence of stunting and preparing a better next generation. This study aims to determine environmental factors that are risk factors for stunting in Pekalongan City through the trias epidemiological approach. This study is a mixed methods study  using an explanatory sequential design with a case control approach. The independent variables to be studied include host and environment variables. The data obtained will be analyzed bivariate and multivalent with data reduction and drawing conclusions from qualitative data. Furthermore, the results of the mix methods analysis  will be included in the SWOT analysis to formulate a strategy to accelerate the reduction of stunting prevalence in Pekalongan City.

Abstract

The results of the 2018 RISKESDAS stated that 48.9% of pregnant women in Indonesia have anemia. This shows that the prevalence of anemia in pregnant women is still quite high in Indonesia. This figure tends to increase compared to the results of the 2013 RISKESDAS where the prevalence rate was 37.1%. The purpose of the study was to analyze the implementation of the program for providing Fe Tablets to pregnant women in the Jepara Regency Health Center area. This study was conducted qualitatively. The subjects of the study were 14 main informants and triangulation selected based on inclusion criteria and purposively. This study applied an interactive data analysis method. The results showed that the implementation of providing Fe Tablets to pregnant women experienced obstacles. The difference in the high and low levels of providing Fe Tablets to pregnant women was influenced by the understanding of village midwives, IEC media, and the availability of Fe Tablet stock. Suggestions from this study are that health centers need to make more effective innovations in promoting the importance of consuming Fe Tablets during pregnancy and there needs to be improved planning in the district pharmacy warehouse so that the stock of Fe Tablets is always sufficient for all health centers in Jepara Regency.

Abstract

Traditional health services are an integral part of the healthcare system, but they have not developed as significantly as other healthcare services. This research aims to investigate the challenges faced in integrating traditional health services into primary healthcare in North Minahasa Regency. The research method used is a case study, employing in-depth interviews with relevant stakeholders involved in traditional health policy and practices. The study seeks to identify potential strategies to address these challenges, including enhancing dialogue and collaboration between both health systems and developing clearer and more inclusive regulations. Based on the interview findings, traditional health services in North Minahasa Regency face significant challenges in terms of legal recognition, a lack of trained personnel, and limited budgetary and regulatory support. Nonetheless, there are substantial opportunities for development, particularly in utilizing medicinal plants and providing skills training, such as acupressure, for the community. Further government support in terms of regulation and funding is necessary to overcome these challenges and promote the broader development of traditional health services.

Abstract

Immunization programs are one of the most effective public health interventions to prevent and reduce the incidence of infectious diseases. This study aims to analyze the effect of immunization programs on the reduction of infectious disease cases in the community. A quantitative method was employed using a descriptive and correlational analysis approach, based on secondary data from health department reports and records of immunization coverage and infectious disease cases over the past five years. The findings indicate a significant correlation between increased immunization coverage and decreased incidence of diseases such as measles, diphtheria, and hepatitis B. The discussion highlights disparities in immunization coverage between regions, the influence of social and educational factors, and implementation challenges in the field. The study concludes that although immunization is proven to be effective, its success relies heavily on supportive policies, community education, and adequate healthcare infrastructure. These findings provide important contributions to strengthening national immunization policies in a more equitable and sustainable manner.

Abstract

Beef Cattle farming activity in post-mining site of PT. Vale Indonesia has been contaminated by heavy metals.  This was indicated by 60% and 40% of produced beef from cattle farming in post-mining sites supplied to the traditional market. The study is a descriptive quantitative study employing descriptive statistics analysis.  This study employed a purposive sampling method on 30 respondents consisting of 10 pregnant women, 10 teenagers (age of 10-17), and 10 adults (age of +17). The results of the study confirmed that there is the presence of potential health risks based on Sytmthoms (1) anemia, (2) headache, (3) fatigue and (4) sore throat in pregnant women for 41,43%; teenagers (age of 10-17) for 21,43%   and the adults for 37,14% respectively. Although the authors found the potential health risk from the respondent, we could generalize all the symptoms come from the heavy metal  contamination  on beef consumed. Therefore,  we need to conduct further study about the beef consumption of local communities around the post-mining area PT Vale, Indonesia.

Abstract

Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) are a significant global health concern, particularly in developing countries, with diet and physical activity identified as key modifiable risk factors. This study aims to analyze the impact of diet and physical activity on the risk of NCDs within a local community. A cross-sectional design was employed, with data collected from 230 adult participants through standardized questionnaires assessing dietary habits and physical activity levels, alongside physical examinations to measure BMI, blood pressure, and other relevant health indicators. The findings indicate that a healthy diet, characterized by balanced nutrition and adequate intake of fruits and vegetables, significantly reduces the risk of NCDs, while regular physical activity further lowers the likelihood of developing conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases. The combined effect of both factors shows a more pronounced protective effect than either factor alone. The study underscores the importance of lifestyle modifications in preventing NCDs and suggests that community-based interventions promoting healthy eating and physical activity are essential for reducing the burden of these diseases. This research provides valuable data for developing targeted public health policies and interventions at the local level, with implications for improving overall community health outcomes. Future research should explore longitudinal designs to establish causal relationships and further investigate other influencing factors such as stress and genetics.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of social media on reducing smoking prevalence among adolescents. Utilizing a quantitative approach with 220 respondents aged 12–18 years, the research highlights the significant role of social media in shaping attitudes and behaviors towards smoking. The findings reveal that anti-smoking campaigns on platforms like Instagram and TikTok effectively raise awareness of the health risks associated with smoking, leading to a decline in smoking prevalence. The study also identifies that visual and engaging content, along with community support, enhances the impact of these campaigns. However, the research acknowledges certain limitations, including the sample's regional focus and the absence of long-term impact analysis. This study contributes to the growing evidence of social media's potential as a public health intervention tool and offers practical insights for policymakers, educators, and health organizations to design targeted and effective campaigns.
