Abstract

In the era of digital transformation, global organizational dynamics have become increasingly complex, highlighting the misalignment between human resource management and neurocognitive adaptability. Conventional management approaches often overlook the role of brain functions in influencing employee behavior and decision-making. This study explores organizational behavior through a neuroscience lens to identify behavioral patterns that can inform effective employee development programs. A qualitative exploratory case study design was employed, involving ten informants comprising HR managers, unit heads, and operational staff from a technology-driven service company. Participants were selected using purposive sampling based on criteria such as work experience and managerial involvement. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, participant observation, and organizational document analysis. Thematic analysis was conducted through a six-phase process: data familiarization, initial coding, theme identification, theme review, theme definition, and report generation. Data validation was ensured through triangulation, peer debriefing, and member checking. The analysis yielded six key themes: (1) Work experience as a cognitive foundation, where senior employees demonstrated quicker and more intuitive decision-making; (2) Adaptive organizational behavior, characterized by flexible task allocation and informal team collaboration; (3) Varying effectiveness of managerial interventions, dependent on clarity and contextual relevance; (4) Awareness of the importance of neurocognitive profiling, yet lack of formal assessment implementation; (5) Hierarchical dynamics in decision-making, with senior staff often dominating discussions; and (6) Emotional and social support as crucial elements of team resilience. These findings underscore the gap between cognitive awareness and the systemic integration of neuroscience in organizational practice. Neuroscience offers a compelling framework for understanding and managing organizational behavior. Integrating neurocognitive profiling into human resource strategies has the potential to improve decision-making, team dynamics, and the precision of intervention programs. The study recommends developing brain-based assessment systems to foster adaptive, evidence-driven, and personalized workforce management in evolving organizational settings.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of community-based approaches in addressing infectious diseases at the local level, particularly in the city of Surakarta. This approach involves community empowerment through the engagement of local health cadres and the formation of environmental awareness groups that actively carry out disease prevention activities. The method used is a case study with data collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that the community-based approach has successfully increased awareness and behavioral changes among the public in adopting healthy lifestyles, such as maintaining environmental cleanliness and independently conducting case tracking. Moreover, the strengthening of social capital and local leadership has proven to be crucial factors in the success of the program. Challenges encountered include low digital literacy among cadres and the general community, limiting the use of information technology. In conclusion, the community-based approach is an effective strategy to complement formal healthcare services in controlling infectious diseases. This model is recommended for replication with adjustments tailored to local socio-cultural characteristics.

Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is a significant public health issue in Indonesia, with incidence rates fluctuating every year. This study aims to identify and analyze the prevention and control strategies for DHF in Indonesia over the last five years (2019–2024) using a literature review method. The analyzed articles were selected based on inclusion criteria such as publications in Indonesian or English, published between 2019 and 2024, and directly discussing prevention or control strategies for DHF. The results show that strategies implemented in Indonesia include community-based approaches such as the 3M Plus movement, the use of innovative technologies like Wolbachia-infected mosquitoes, enhancement of surveillance systems, public education, and strengthening cross-sector coordination. Despite various efforts, challenges such as vector resistance, climate change, and lack of inter-agency synergy still hinder program effectiveness. Therefore, more integrated, evidence-based policies oriented toward community participation are needed to achieve optimal and sustainable DHF control.

Abstract

This study examines the dynamics of social empowerment in inclusive health service practices in Medan City using a descriptive qualitative approach. The background of this study stems from structural inequalities in access to and quality of health services, which place marginalized communities as passive recipients of health programs. Although the rhetoric of participation and inclusivity is often emphasized in policy documents, field practice demonstrates the dominance of a top-down approach that fails to adequately consider local values, power relations, and the socio-cultural context of the community. Through in-depth observations and interviews in several sub-districts such as Medan Marelan, Belawan, and Tembung, this study uncovers the importance of transforming the role of cadres and communities as active subjects who independently manage the health agenda. Thematic analysis results indicate that the success of equitable and inclusive service delivery depends heavily on genuine community involvement throughout the program cycle and the recognition of local knowledge as social capital. Approaches such as Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR) and Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) have proven relevant in building democratic and equitable health practices. This research emphasizes that health service must be a dialectical space that encourages social transformation, not simply an administrative instrument that reproduces inequality.

Abstract

The trend of ultra-processed food (UPF) consumption among urban adolescents has increased along with the modern, fast-paced lifestyle. This consumption pattern has the potential to increase the risk of obesity, especially in school-age groups. This study aims to analyze the relationship between the level of ultra-processed food consumption and the risk of obesity in adolescents based on Body Mass Index (BMI). The study was conducted with a quantitative approach and cross-sectional design on 200 high school students in the DKI Jakarta area. Data were collected through a Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ) and anthropometric measurements (weight and height). The analysis technique used the Kolmogorov-Smirnov normality test, Pearson correlation test, and simple linear regression with a significance level of p < 0.05. The results showed that the majority of respondents consumed ultra-processed foods in the moderate to high category. The highest average BMI was recorded in the high UPF consumption group (24.3), while the low consumption group had an average BMI of 21.4. The Pearson correlation test yielded an r value of 0.479 (p = 0.000), and linear regression showed a 23% contribution of UPF consumption to BMI variation (R² = 0.230). This study concluded that there is a significant positive relationship between ultra-processed food consumption and obesity risk in urban adolescents. These results provide an important basis for strengthening nutrition education programs, limiting unhealthy food advertising, and implementing healthy canteen policies in school environments.

Abstract

Interprofessional collaboration (IPC) is a strategy to address the need for integrated community mental health services. In community mental health services, effective interprofessional collaboration practices can increase community participation in carrying out early detection and prevention of mental health problems. In order to create effective IPC practices, it is necessary to identify factors that hinder interprofessional collaboration in community mental health programs. The purpose of this study was to analyze the level of Interprofessional Collaboration (IPC) of community mental health programs in Jember Regency. Methods: This study is a quantitative and qualitative research (mix-method). The level of interprofessional collaboration was measured using the PINCOM (The Perception of Interprofessional Collaboration Model) questionnaire consisting of 32 questions, which included individual factors and team factors. Questionnaire scores were calculated using a 5-point Likert scale. And further descriptive analysis using logistic regression. Then individual factors and team factors were further assessed using the in-depth interview method. The results of quantitative research show that the characteristics of respondents that affect the implementation of interprofessional collaboration are age, education, position, while employment status and length of service have no impact on the implementation of interprofessional collaboration in community mental health programs. The conclusion of this study is that the level of interprofessional collaboration in community mental health programs is running well, government policies are needed so that the handling of community mental health programs can be more comprehensive.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the perceptions of the Tanjung Padang Village community, Sirenja District, Donggala Regency, regarding earthquake and tsunami disaster management. A qualitative approach was used, using the Focus Group Discussion (FGD) method, involving 10 participants, including the Village Head, Hamlet Head, Posyandu (Integrated Service Post) cadres, LPM (LPM) members, community leaders, and village midwives. The results show that community perceptions of disasters vary, with most viewing them as fate, while others are beginning to understand the importance of mitigation. Technical knowledge related to disaster preparedness is still limited, and an adequate early warning system is not yet available. However, the community showed high enthusiasm for participating in disaster training and has social potential in the form of mutual cooperation that can be developed as a local strength. This study highlights the importance of community involvement and strengthening local capacity in community-based disaster management.

Abstract

This study aims to develop and test the effectiveness of integrating community nursing into a family empowerment program to improve adolescent reproductive health. The research background is based on the high prevalence of adolescent reproductive health problems in Indonesia, such as early marriage, unwanted pregnancy, and sexually transmitted infections, which are exacerbated by poor family communication regarding these topics. The study used a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach involving adolescents aged 12–19 years, their families, and community nurses in the community health center (Puskesmas) working area. The research instruments included an in-depth interview guide, a participant observation sheet, and pre- and post-test questionnaires on knowledge and attitudes. The results showed a significant increase in adolescent knowledge, attitudes, and healthy behaviors (p < 0.05) after the intervention, accompanied by an increase in the frequency of open communication between families and adolescents regarding reproductive health. The involvement of families as co-educators has been shown to strengthen the program's effectiveness, create a supportive home environment, and reduce cultural barriers in discussing reproductive issues. This intervention model is considered to have great potential for replication in various regions with adjustments to the local social and cultural context, thus becoming a sustainable strategy in promoting adolescent reproductive health.

Abstract

This article aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the etiology, clinical manifestations, diagnostic process, and management of acute abdomen in children. The article is compiled using a descriptive narrative approach based on literature review from relevant medical journals and reference books. The review covers aspects of abdominal anatomy, pain classification, surgical and non-surgical etiologies, and diagnostic and therapeutic approaches. Acute abdomen in children has a wide variety of etiologies, including inflammation, obstruction, trauma, vascular disorders, and congenital disorders. The main manifestation is abdominal pain that can be divided into visceral, somatic, and referred pain, with various characteristics such as colicky, ischemic, and projected pain. The diagnostic process involves a thorough history taking, a systematic physical examination (inspection, palpation, percussion, auscultation), and supporting examinations such as laboratory, radiology, ultrasound, and CT scan. Management measures include emergency treatment, hemodynamic stabilization, and surgery if necessary. Acute abdomen is not a final diagnosis, but rather a collection of symptoms from various pathological conditions that require rapid evaluation. Therefore, appropriate management and early referral to a surgical specialist are crucial in reducing the risk of complications in pediatric patients. Rapid, accurate, and multidisciplinary management is key to improving the prognosis and survival of pediatric patients with acute abdominal symptoms.
