Abstract

This study aims to describe students' difficulties in translating word problems into mathematical models in algebra material. Using a qualitative approach, the subjects were seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 2 Tasikmalaya in the 2024/2025 academic year. Data were collected through questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. The results show that students struggled to understand the meaning of word problems and convert them into correct equations. Common errors included misconceptions about algebraic symbols, such as treating variables as fixed numbers and misusing the equal sign. In addition, students had difficulty identifying essential information needed to construct a mathematical model. Learning activities that focused only on procedural calculations further contributed to these challenges. This study recommends the use of more contextual and meaningful learning approaches, such as Problem-Based Learning and Realistic Mathematics Education, to help students better understand the relationships within problems and accurately express them through appropriate mathematical representations.. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kesulitan siswa dalam menerjemahkan soal cerita ke dalam model matematika pada materi aljabar. Dengan pendekatan kualitatif, subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 2 Tasikmalaya tahun ajaran 2024/2025. Data dikumpulkan melalui angket, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa mengalami kesulitan dalam memahami makna soal cerita dan menyusunnya menjadi persamaan yang tepat. Kesalahan yang muncul meliputi pemahaman yang keliru terhadap simbol aljabar, seperti menganggap variabel sebagai angka tetap dan tidak tepat menggunakan tanda sama dengan. Selain itu, siswa juga tampak kesulitan menentukan informasi penting yang diperlukan untuk membangun model matematika. Pembelajaran yang hanya berfokus pada prosedur perhitungan turut memperkuat kesulitan ini. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan penggunaan pendekatan pembelajaran yang lebih kontekstual dan bermakna, seperti Problem-Based Learning dan Realistic Mathematics Education, agar siswa dapat lebih memahami hubungan antar informasi dalam soal dan menyusunnya dalam bentuk model yang benar.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the profile of students' conceptual understanding ability in spatial geometry for fifth-grade students at SDN 09 Rangkang, Bengkayang. This research is a descriptive study with a qualitative approach. The subjects were the class teacher and ten students (five boys and five girls). Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis techniques consisted of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was ensured through prolonged engagement and triangulation. The results showed that students' understanding of the concepts of volume and nets of cubes and rectangular prisms can be categorized as good.

Abstract

This article aims to examine the role of digital learning media in supporting mathematics learning that is aligned with the spirit of the Merdeka Curriculum. The research was conducted using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method on twenty scientific articles that discuss the use of digital media in learning mathematics at various levels of education. The results of the study show that digital learning media such as the Canva application, Wordwall, digital comics, animated videos, and educational games can significantly improve concept understanding, learning motivation, and student engagement. Digital media also supports the differentiated and contextual learning approach that is the main characteristic of Merdeka Curriculum. This study concludes that digital media is not only effective in conveying abstract material visually and interactively, but also encourages the development of students' 21st century skills, such as critical thinking, independence, and creativity. The findings are expected to be a reference for teachers, researchers, and policy makers in designing innovative and adaptive mathematics learning strategies in the digital era.

Abstract

This study seeks to assess the involvement of an independent fishing insurance scheme that can be printed in Sibolga City. This type of research is known for its qualitative description. To obtain data, monitoring, conducting interviews and accessing paper The findings show that the Mandari Independent Fishermen's Insurance Program, which is supervised by the Director of Fisheries, complies with the direction of the Director General. It would be reasonable to have confidence in the independent fishing insurance program for fishermen. Fishermen's participation is influenced by a number of variables, especially internal factors that encourage internal participation. This program definitely requires fishermen's participation. Communication is a component that influences fishermen's participation in the independent fishermen insurance program, because communication is the process of exchanging information. The community often interacts and communicates to get additional information about the implementation of the independent fishermen insurance program. In addition, the community will become familiar and feel the benefits of the development program through intensive communication. They benefit from the program because good communication can encourage them to participate more. Next, the level of education, which is an important component that encourages community participation. One of the factors that influences a person's attitude towards the existing independent fishermen's insurance program is their age. In addition, because the work of fishermen is clearly a very risky job, social solidarity is the reason fishermen participate in the independent fishermen's insurance program. When fishermen go to sea, there are many things that can threaten their lives, such as direct contact with unpredictable sea waves, ocean storms, attacks by wild animals, and a number of other dangers. Judging from the level of success of the implementation of the fishermen's insurance premium assistance program that is right on target and in accordance with the provisions of the disbursement and the cause of the incident of the recipient of assistance, this policy indicator can show that the implementation of this policy has been carried out well. Abstract

The rapid digital transformation has introduced new challenges in education, particularly in making mathematics learning engaging and contextual at the elementary level. A crucial issue lies in the low interest and engagement of students due to conventional teaching approaches that are often perceived as boring and abstract. This study aims to analyze the use of Minecraft: Education Edition as an innovative digital learning medium to enhance the effectiveness of mathematics instruction in the fifth grade of MIN 02 Batang. A case study approach was employed, utilizing observation, interviews, and documentation during the learning process. The findings indicate that Minecraft significantly increases student engagement and facilitates the understanding of concepts such as geometry, measurement, and scale through visual and contextual exploration. Supporting factors include student enthusiasm and available digital infrastructure, while obstacles include time limitations and teacher readiness in using technology. In conclusion, Minecraft: Education Edition holds significant potential as a 21st-century learning tool that is adaptive and enjoyable, with recommendations for teacher training and more effective time planning in classroom implementation.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and analyze the challenges in developing Indonesian students’ mathematical abilities within the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum. Using a literature review method, 14 out of 30 reviewed articles were found relevant. The findings highlight key challenges such as gaps in foundational literacy and numeracy, low teacher quality, limited learning resources, lack of innovation in mathematics instruction, suboptimal formative assessments, and low student motivation. Although the Merdeka Curriculum promotes student-centered learning with flexibility, its implementation still faces significant barriers. Therefore, targeted strategies are needed, including teacher training, provision of adequate resources, and collaboration between educational institutions and the government. This review offers valuable implications for policy development aimed at improving the quality of mathematics education in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study explores the challenges and solutions in mathematics education in the digital era. The rapid development of digital technology has changed teaching methodologies and learning accessibility. This study used a literature review method, analyzing 30 relevant studies from 2021 to 2025. The findings show major challenges such as lack of teacher skills, limited resources, and low digital literacy. In line with this, innovative learning models, infrastructure improvements, and continuous professional development for educators can effectively address these issues. Integrating technology into mathematics education is essential to prepare students for future challenges in an increasingly digital world.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the need for innovation in mathematics learning in elementary schools, especially regarding material measuring the weight of objects which is often considered abstract by students. The aim of this research is to develop a learning design based on blended learning combined with interactive media to increase understanding of concepts and student involvement in the learning process. The research method used is Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) development model. The findings show that the learning design developed is classified as very feasible and effective based on the assessment of material experts, media, as well as the results of limited trials in the field. The use of interactive media in a blended learning approach has been proven to significantly increase students' learning motivation and understanding of concepts. The implications of this research indicate that the integration of digital technology in mathematics learning in elementary schools can be an eee3werfgfdzxczalternative solution to create a more interesting, interactive and meaningful learning experience.

Abstract

Assessment of learning outcomes plays a crucial role in evaluating students' academic achievement. Midterm and final exam scores are often used as benchmarks for learning performance, yet the relationship between the two is rarely analyzed in depth. This study aims to examine the correlation between Midterm Exam (UTS) and Final Exam (UAS) scores in Mathematics among 11th-grade students at Bhakti Kencana Vocational High School in Bandung. A quantitative approach with a correlational method was employed, involving 30 students as the sample. Data were obtained through documentation of scores, and analysis was conducted using the Spearman Correlation Test due to the data not being fully normally distributed. The results indicated a significant and positive correlation between UTS and UAS scores, with a correlation coefficient of 0.511. This suggests that midterm scores can serve as a fairly reliable indicator of final exam performance and reflect the consistency of students' academic performance. The implications of these findings highlight the importance of continuous monitoring and learning efforts from mid-semester onwards to optimize students' final outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the use of Macaulay2 software in improving students' computational thinking skills in mathematics learning, especially in abstract algebra material. Macaulay2 as an open-source Computer Algebra Sistem (CAS) provides a symbolic and algorithmic environment that encourages logical and systematic exploration of mathematical concepts. Literature reviews show that the use of Macaulay2 can strengthen conceptual understanding, train computational thinking, and introduce mathematical programming to students. However, technical challenges, limited Indonesian language teaching materials, and limited educational infrastructure are obstacles that need to be overcome through collaboration between educational stakeholders.
