Abstract

Low back pain is a common complaint experienced by women in the third trimester of pregnancy due to physiological, biomechanical, and hormonal changes occurring during pregnancy. This condition can interfere with daily activities and reduce the quality of life of pregnant women if not properly managed. One safe and recommended non-pharmacological intervention to alleviate this complaint is pregnancy exercise. This study aimed to determine the effect of pregnancy exercise on reducing low back pain intensity among third-trimester pregnant women. This study employed a quantitative method with a pre-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design. The research was conducted at PMB Midwife Yuni Cahyani, Cianjur Regency, from November to December 2025. A total of 32 third-trimester pregnant women were recruited using a total sampling technique. The intensity of low back pain was measured using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) before and after the pregnancy exercise intervention. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test. The results showed that the mean low back pain intensity decreased from 5.78 before the intervention to 4.25 after the intervention, with a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05). These findings indicate that pregnancy exercise has a significant effect on reducing low back pain intensity in third-trimester pregnant women. Therefore, pregnancy exercise is recommended to be integrated into antenatal care services as a non-pharmacological intervention to improve comfort and quality of life for pregnant women.

Abstract

Stunting is a serious global health problem and is a major challenge in efforts to improve child welfare throughout the world, especially indeveloping countries like Indonesia. In Maluku, stunting cases are increasing, especially in the working area of the Belakang Soya Health Center,Ambon City, stunting cases continue to increase every year. This study aims to determine theexperiencesof mothers in the first 1000 days of achild's life faced when children experiencing stunting. Research objectives : Experience of mother's parenting patterns in the first 1000 days of achild's life when children experiencing stunting by looking at maternal nutrition during pregnancy, exclusive breastfeeding, and feeding practices (MP-ASI) in the working area of the Belakang Soya Health Center, Ambon City. Research Methods : The type of research used is qualitative research with a phenomenological approach. Informants were 10 mothers with children with stunting. This study was conducted from September to November 2024. Results : The results of this study indicate that there are 3 dimensions studied, namely the experience of the first 1000 days of a child's life including maternal nutrition during pregnancy, it was found that some mothers had poor eating patterns during pregnancy, did not provide exclusive breastfeeding, and provided non-nutritious food in feeding practices (MP-ASI). Conclusion : The role of mothers during the first 1000 days of a child's life is very important, especially in fulfilling nutrition during pregnancy, providing exclusive breastfeeding, andappropriate MP-ASI.

Abstract

Background: Hyperemesis gravidarum (HEG), a pregnancy complication characterized by excessive nausea and vomiting, has a global prevalence of 0.3%–3.6% and 1%–3% in Indonesia. In the Bangka Belitung Islands Province, HEG accounts for 2.3% of pregnancies and contributes to maternal morbidity risks. Hospital data from RSUD Kriopanting show an increase from 40 cases (5.63%) in 2022 to 45 cases (5.36%) in 2024. Objective: This study aimed to analyze factors associated with the occurrence of HEG among pregnant women in 2025. Methods: An analytical observational study with a case–control design was applied to 75 respondents, consisting of 25 cases and 50 controls from January to August 2025. Risk factor data were obtained through medical record review and structured interviews. Statistical analysis used the Chi-square test and Odds Ratio (OR) with a 95% confidence level. Results: Significant associations were identified for maternal age (p=0.014; OR=3.45), gestational age (p=0.000; OR=16.00), parity (p=0.005; OR=4.14), nutritional status (p=0.016; OR=3.57), and comorbid history (p=0.004; OR=4.82). Gestational age emerged as the most dominant factor based on the highest OR value. Conclusion: All five factors were significantly associated with HEG, with gestational age identified as the strongest determinant. These findings highlight the need to strengthen risk screening, nutritional education, and promotive–preventive interventions early in pregnancy.

Abstract

Pain during the first stage of labor was an uncomfortable sensation arising from the physiological process of childbirth, particularly during the cervical dilation phase until full dilation (10 cm). This pain was multifactorial, originating from strong uterine contractions, pressure on the cervix, and the stretching of birth canal tissues. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of a combination of breathing relaxation techniques and murotal therapy on pain intensity during the first stage of labor at Kelapa Community Health Center in 2025. This research was a quantitative study with a Quasi-Experimental design using the One Group Control Pre-Post Test Design approach. The population of this study consisted of all mothers who gave birth in the PONED delivery room at Kelapa Public Health Center during one year, ending in 2024. The sample consisted of 69 respondents, selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data were analyzed using the paired t-test. The results showed a significant decrease in pain intensity among mothers during the first stage of labor after receiving the intervention. The mean pain scale before the therapy among laboring mothers at Kelapa Public Health Center was 3.45 with an SD of 0.501, while after the intervention, the mean pain scale decreased to 1.64 with an SD of 0.484. Statistical analysis using the paired t-test showed a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05).

Abstract

Based on 2024 data in East Nusa Tenggara Province, family planning (KB) utilization was recorded at 40.73%, while in Kupang Regency, the recorded figure was 35.76%. This study aims to analyze the relationship between the knowledge and attitudes of Couples of Childbearing Age (PUS) and their decision-making to become family planning acceptors in Penfui Timur Village. This research employed a quantitative type with a cross-sectional study design. The population in this study consisted of Couples of Childbearing Age (PUS) in Penfui Timur Village. A sample of 100 respondents was selected using a non-probability sampling technique with a purposive sampling approach. Data collection was carried out using a structured questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis involved univariate and bivariate analyses using the Chi-Square statistical test and Prevalence Odds Ratio (POR). The Chi-Square test results revealed a significant relationship between knowledge and KB decision-making ($p = 0.000$, POR = 2.725; 95% CI = 2.068–3.592), as well as a significant relationship between attitude and KB decision-making ($p = 0.021$, POR = 1.756; 95% CI = 1.008–2.430). Knowledge is the most dominant factor influencing PUS in practicing family planning at the study site. PUS with poor or moderate knowledge are 2.72 times more likely to not practice family planning, while those with negative attitudes are 1.75 times more likely to refuse to become acceptors.
