Aims Journal of Art and Creativity in Early Childhood Education aims to provide a scholarly forum for the exchange of research findings, theoretical perspectives, and practical insights related to art, creativity, and aesthetic learning in early childhood education. The journal seeks to advance understanding of how creative and artistic experiences contribute to young children’s holistic development, including cognitive, social, emotional, cultural, and creative domains. Scope Journal of Art and Creativity in Early Childhood Education publishes original research articles, conceptual papers, and best practice reports that examine art- and creativity-based approaches in early childhood education. The journal emphasizes interdisciplinary perspectives that integrate education, arts, culture, and child development, focusing on learning experiences for children from birth to eight years old. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of art-based learning management in supporting the development of creativity in Early Childhood Education. Creativity is an important aspect of children's development that needs to be stimulated through meaningful learning experiences. This study uses a literature study method by analyzing 20 scientific articles obtained from Google Scholar, ERIC, and Scopus databases. The search process was carried out using the keywords arts-based learning, learning environment, creativity, early childhood education, and learning management. The results show that art-based learning contributes significantly to increasing children's creativity, especially if supported by effective learning management, a conducive learning environment, and innovative approaches. The integration of art in learning also has an impact on children's cognitive, social-emotional, and self-expression development. This study concludes that art-based learning needs to be managed systematically and integrated in Early Childhood Education to optimize children's creative potential. Further research is suggested to test its effectiveness through empirical studies in the field.

Abstract

Early Childhood Education (ECE) has been widely recognized as a fundamental pillar in achieving sustainable human development, particularly within the framework of Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4), which emphasizes inclusive and equitable quality education for all. Despite the growing number of scholarly publications in this field, a comprehensive understanding of research trends, thematic evolution, and global collaboration patterns remains limited. This study aims to map the development of ECE research in supporting SDG 4 through a bibliometric analysis of publications indexed in the Scopus database from 2015 to 2025. A total of 661 articles and review papers were selected based on predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data were analyzed using Biblioshiny (Bibliometrix R-package) and VOSviewer to examine publication trends, thematic structures, core journals, and international collaborations. The findings reveal that research in ECE is dominated by well-established themes such as “early childhood education” and “human development,” which function as motor themes with high centrality and density. Core journals play a significant role in shaping the intellectual structure of the field, reflecting a concentration of knowledge dissemination. However, the results also indicate a lack of emerging and innovative themes, particularly in areas such as digital integration, inclusive education, and community-based approaches. Furthermore, global research collaboration is largely dominated by developed countries, especially the United States, Australia, and the United Kingdom, while contributions from developing countries remain limited. This study highlights the need for greater diversification of research themes and more inclusive global collaboration to strengthen the contribution of ECE research toward achieving SDG 4. The findings provide valuable insights for researchers, policymakers, and practitioners in identifying research gaps and future directions in early childhood education. Abstract

The digital transformation brings dual impacts on early childhood parenting practices. On one hand, children are increasingly exposed to technological devices, social media platforms, and various digital content. On the other hand, conventional parenting approaches that rely on face-to-face communication and traditional social values are beginning to face limitations. This paper examines parenting challenges in the digital technology era along with alternative solutions through the concept of smart parenting grounded in local wisdom. This study was conducted by analyzing various forms of parental guidance practices in several communities, including adaptive parenting training programs, smart parenting seminars, and efforts to integrate local cultural values with contemporary parenting approaches. The findings indicate that parents need a proportional parenting approach: optimizing the responsible use of technology through supervision, control, and active accompaniment, while instilling character values, spirituality, and local cultural wisdom as the ethical foundation for children. The smart parenting approach based on local wisdom demonstrates effectiveness in increasing awareness, competence, and active involvement of parents in facing digital era challenges. Therefore, adaptive parenting strategies that integrate technology with noble cultural values can be a strategic solution in shaping an early childhood generation that is not only digitally competent, but also possesses strong character and commendable moral values.

Abstract

This study aims to describe and analyze the innovation of art learning management in increasing early childhood imagination in Aisyiyah 1 Kendari Kindergarten. This study uses a qualitative approach. The research subjects consisted of the principal and three deliberately selected classroom teachers. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model which included data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawn. The results of the study show that the management of fine arts learning is carried out through the stages of planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating. Learning activities include drawing, coloring using watercolors, collages, and mosaics using natural materials and waste materials. Although the use of media is quite varied, the learning process still tends to be teacher-centered so that children imitate many of the examples given. Learning evaluation emphasizes more on the results of the work than on the child's creative process. The conclusion of the study shows that innovation in the management of fine arts learning is needed to provide a wider space for the development of children's imagination through more flexible and process-oriented learning.

Abstract

Character education in early childhood is the primary foundation for forming a noble personality (akhlakul karimah). This research aims to describe the implementation of the Tapak Suci extracurricular program in instilling discipline and humility in early childhood at TK Aisyiyah Bustanul Athfal 57 Surabaya. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data collection techniques included participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data analysis followed the Miles and Huberman interactive model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that Tapak Suci activities serve not only as physical exercise but also as a medium for internalizing character values through habituation, role modeling, and the reinforcement of religious values. The value of discipline is reflected in children's compliance with training rules, while the value of humility is evident in mutual respect and a lack of arrogance in interactions. Thus, Tapak Suci extracurricular activities are effective as a means of culture-based and religious character education for young children.
