Abstract

This study aims to develop an Android-based application on biodiversity to enhance public understanding of biodiversity and its relevance to daily life, while promoting active community involvement in conservation efforts. The research employed a research and development (R&D) methodology using the PLOMP model, which consists of five phases: preliminary investigation, design, realization/construction, test and evaluation, and implementation. The application, titled Biodiversity Games, integrates multimedia elements to support interactive and engaging learning experiences. Validation was conducted by peer reviewers, yielding an overall validity score of 93.4%. Specifically, the display aspect achieved a score of 87.5%, the learning objectives 96.87%, and ease of use 95.83%. These results indicate that the application is highly valid and feasible for use in educational settings. The implementation phase conducted at MTs Dar El Hikmah demonstrated that students found the application accessible, engaging, and helpful in understanding biodiversity topics. Feedback also suggested that the application enhances science literacy and student motivation. Minor revisions were recommended to improve visual clarity on smaller devices. Overall, the Biodiversity Games application has strong potential as an effective digital learning tool for biodiversity education in Indonesian schools.

Abstract

The impact of Western culture on African traditions has significantly weakened the democratic norms and moral values that once united the people, causing a breakdown in social cohesion. This erosion has led to a strong resistance among Africans against any further imposition of Western ideologies, as they struggle with a lack of peace, security, unity, and love. Meanwhile, modernism asserts its superiority and dominance over African traditions and cultures, often resulting in chaos and anarchy. This paper aims to examine the ethical standards present in both African and Western cultures, advocating for values that promote hedonism, egalitarianism, peace, freedom, and justice. It analyzes Zulu Sofola's Wedlock of the Gods (1972) and Ama Ata Aidoo's The Dilemma of a Ghost (1965), which illustrate the conflict between these two cultural paradigms. These plays address traditional marriage and family dynamics, highlighting the transition from tradition to Western ideologies in the pursuit of peace and healthy relationships. The paper argues that the clash between tradition and modernity undermines humanity and should be challenged. It emphasizes the necessity of upholding individual rights and privileges to mitigate social issues such as immorality, acrimony, injustice, forced marriages, and other societal ills. Utilizing a post-colonial theoretical framework, the study is well-suited to explore the relationship between socio-cultural practices and the well-being of Africans. In conclusion, the barriers between these cultural divides should be dismantled to achieve peaceful coexistence, unity, and love.

Abstract

The concept of time has been the subject of much debate in philosophy, physics and cognitive science. Some theories hold that time is a fundamental entity in the structure of the universe, while others argue that time is merely a human mental construct. This research examines the existence of time from various perspectives, including the theory of relativity, the philosophies of idealism and materialism, and the theory of causality. The study shows that time cannot be separated from space, as expressed in the concept of space-time. In addition, time also has probabilistic characteristics, where future events are affected by the past and current conditions. The purpose of this research is to find out about the concept and implementation of time. The information is extracted using the desk research method, in accordance with the study with the discussion of three main theories of time: Presentism, Eternalism, and Growing Block Theory. The results show that Causality Time is more in line with the idea that time is already present by the various probabilities of events occurring, where the past and present are real, while the future is real with the chance of events stemming from causality. Thus, time is not just a measure of change, but also a fundamental element that shapes reality and influences causal relationships in the universe.

Abstract

Religion is commonly perceived as a source of moral guidance and social cohesion. However, within contemporary workplace settings, religious discourse can be strategically deployed to regulate employment relations and shape worker behaviour. This study investigates how religious discourse is employed to reproduce injustices against marginalized workers within contemporary workplace settings. Aimed at identifying discursive forms, analyzing the factors that facilitate the reproduction of injustice, and exploring its consequences, the study adopts a literature-review approach that traces news coverage, public opinion, and social-media discourse as primary data sources. The findings reveal three principal forms through which injustice is reproduced: (1) the ideologization of moral values that reframes structural problems as personal failings; (2) the sacralization of hierarchical structures that grants moral legitimacy to managerial authority; and (3) the instrumentalization of religious symbols and rituals as mechanisms of social control. Factors reinforcing these processes include conservative religious interpretations, entrenched structural power relations, the psychological internalization of religious values, and cultural norms promoting compliance. The implications comprise an erosion of workers’ critical consciousness, the reinforcement of socio-economic inequality, increased psychological and spiritual burdens, and a weakening of labor solidarity. The study concludes that religious discourse can operate as a tool for conserving the status quo rather than as a catalyst for social justice.
