Abstract

A test of a diesel motor using the fuel mixture of diesel-jatropha oil has been conducted in order to analyze the influence of fuel mixture composition to the motor performance and exhaust gas emission. The motor which had a single cylinder, 4 cycles, with maximum energy output of 4.4 kW at 2600 rpm, moved agenerator as electricity power load. The percentage of jatropha oil in fuel mixture was 0%, 10%, 30%, 50% and 100%. The testing method was, to each fuel mixture composition and at constant 2000 rpm motor rotation with electricity power load of 0 and 2 kW, the data concerning to the fuel consumption, lubricating oiltemperature and exhaust gas emission was measured. The test result indicated that the higher the percentage of jatropha oil in fuel mixture, the higher the fuel consumption and the CO2 and NOx emission in exhaust gas, but the lower the HC and O2 emission and opacity of exhaust gas.

Abstract

ABSTRACTIn the Waste to Energy (WtE) Pilot Plant system, the garbage feed has high diverse content including various type of metal. A metal separation system plays an important role during waste pretreatment process before the garbage entering the incinerator. This system is aimed to prevent performance degradation of the combustion system and to gain added value of the reuse metals in the waste. The WtE Pilot Plant in Bantargebang, constructed in 2018, is a large project and is expected to contribute significantly in overcoming waste problems in Indonesia. The performance of the WtE pilot plant system increases significantly if supported by a metal separator system integrated to the existing pretreatment system. This paper evaluates new design of metal separation system from the waste inputs. In general, metal separator system was designed as a permanent unit with a stand alone or integrated electromagnetic lifting. In this paper, the metal separator system was designed by using a combination of permanent ferrite and neodymium magnetic cores to create a combined force able to pull scraps mixed in waste at a considerable distance and was easily removed and collected. To optimize the system, a metal separator system was attached to a crane system installed in a double cabin car. Thus, the flexibility of this system was increasingly high. Tests results showed that the metal separator system with a combination of ferrite and neodymium was able to pull metals in the waste from a distance up to 20 cm despite of blocking by non-magnetic wastes, and able to attract almost 100% of the exisiting metals. Key words: WtE, metal separator, ferrite, neodymium, waste, mobile systemABSTRAKPada sistem Pembangkit Listrik Tenaga Sampah (PLT Sampah), di mana umpan sampah memiliki keberagaman yang tinggi, termasuk keberadaan logam di dalamnya, sistem pemisahan logam sebagai tahapan pretreatment sampah sebelum masuk ke dalam sistem insinerator akan memegang peranan yang cukup penting. Sistem ini bertujuan untuk mencegah penurunan kinerja sistem pembakaran serta untuk meningkatkan nilai dari penggunaan ulang logam yang tercampur ke dalam sampah. Pembangunan Pilot PLT Sampah di Bantargebang yang dimulai pada tahun 2018 merupakan suatu proyek besar dan diharapkan dapat memberikan kontribusi yang signifikan dalam mengatasi permasalahan sampah di Indonesia. Kinerja sistem PLT Sampah ini akan lebih baik jika didukung oleh sistem pemisah logam yang dapat diintegrasikan dengan sistem pretreatment yang telah ada. Inovasi sistem ini dirancang untuk melakukan pemilahan terhadap input sampah yang masuk ke dalam sistem PLT Sampah yang berupa logam sehingga sampah logam tidak turut terbakar. Pada umumnya, pemisah logam dibuat sebagai unit permanen dengan menggunakan magnet pengangkat berupa elektromagnet yang berdiri sendiri atau bisa terintegrasi. Namun pada sistem ini, sistem pemisah logam dirancang dengan menggunakan magnet permanen yang menggabungkan inti magnet ferrite dan neodymium sehingga akan menciptakan kombinasi antara sistem yang dapat menarik scrap yang tercampur dalam sampah pada jarak yang cukup jauh namun bisa dilepaskan dengan mudah untuk dikumpulkan. Untuk membuat sistem ini bekerja optimal, sistem pemisah logam dibuat secara mobil dengan memadukannya dengan sistem derek yang terpasang pada sistem mobil kabin ganda. Dengan demikian, fleksibilitas sistem ini menjadi semakin tinggi. Uji yang telah dilakukan menunjukkan sistem pemisah logam dengan kombinasi ferrite- neodymium ini dapat menarik logam yang tercampur pada sampah hingga jarak 20 cm meskipun terhalang sampah yang lain (non-magnet), dan menarik hampir 100% dari logam yang tersedia.Kata kunci : PLT Sampah, pemisah logam, ferrite, neodymium, sampah, sistem mobil

Abstract

Flood is a natural dissaster that causes a lot of people suffer severely in most places of Jakarta, flood occurs yearly. Many factors effect this devastating dissasters one of which is caused by environment pollution of rivers. Main pollution comes from industrial and domestic waste. The contents of the waste continously couse river shallow and discarasing its wide. River shallow often causes flooding become river capasity in storing and flowing precipitation to the sea is decreasing. This paper assess the background of social cultural Behavior people that dispose their waste in river. The concept of river as the place for their waste and dirts has been their habit and value system on the urban and city. The bad habit causes river loose its function.

Abstract

Coal has a very important role to meet energy demand in Indonesia, however, it is also the dirtiest fuel among the fossil fuels. As coal utilization continues to increase, pollutants and greenhouse gases emissions from the coal utilization also increase, that would lead to environmental problems. Therefore, development of clean coal technologies for reducing those emissions from coal utilization needs to be considered. The technologies areintended to reduce the policy conflict between continuing coal utilization and protecting environment potential by improving the effectiveness of control technologies and reducing their costs. In addition, the technologies have higher efficiency that would impact on conserving fuels that lead to reducing costs and extension of coal reserve availability.

Abstract

The Ngaju, a Dayak tribe of Central Kalimantan, depend extensively onsurrounding natural resources for their food, medicines, cosmetics,construction materials, and other uses. A field study was conducted amongstthe Ngaju using direct observation and interviewing key persons includingcommunity leaders, traditional healers and local families. Based on the datacollected in the field, we recorded 107 plant species belonging to 51 familiesand 86 genera, used as food (56 species), medicine (46 species), cosmetics (4species), building material (9 species), and other uses (9 species). Severalspecies with potential economic value will be discussed in this paper, and localcustoms relating to traditions agriculture knowledge will be elaborated. Thepotency of the plants in connecting to the culture of the Dayak Ngaju will bealso be discussed in this paper. Three of the species studied consideredendangered species: Alyxia reinwardtii (Widjaja 1992), Eurycoma longifolia(Rifai 1992) and Cinnamomum sintoc (Widjaja 1992).

Abstract

Salah satu sektor pembangunan di Indonesia yang tidak bebas dari ancaman perubahan iklim adalah sektor transportasi udara. Oleh karena, perlu disiapkan strategi adaptasi dampak perubahan iklim. Bandara Hasanuddin Makassar berpotensi terkena dampak peningkatan suhu permukaan, kelembaban udara dancurah hujan dalam sepuluh tahun terakhir. Jika melihat data emisi gas polutan (non-GRK) terlihat bahwa polusi udara belum menjadi ancaman nyata. Namun ancaman yang akan segera dialami adalah berubahnya beberapa parameter meteorologis seperti suhu permukaan, kelembaban dan intensitas curah hujan. Berdasarkan data pemantauan oleh otoritas bandara memperlihatkan untuk rentang waktu 10 tahun sejak 2003 hingga 2013, telah terjadi kenaikan suhu permukaan rata-rata sebesar 10C. Kenaikan suhu permukaan ini juga diikuti kenaikan kelembaban pada rentang waktu yang sama sebesar 5%. Perubahan ketiga komponen iklim ini akan memberi dampak pada sistem penerbangan sehubungan dengan fenomena perubahan iklim. Melalui analisis risiko dan peluang untuk tiap perubahan komponen iklim, akan dapatditentukan dampak negatif dan dampak positif dari suatu fenomena cuaca dan iklim. Ancaman utama atau dampak negatip perubahan iklim bagi bandara Hasanuddin adalah potensi banjir, kekeringan, kebutuhan energi yang meningkat, rusaknya infrastruktur seperti runway, taxiway dan apron serta terganggunya operasional penerbangan akibat cuaca ekstrim. Strategi adaptasi yang tepat untuk bandara Hasanuddinantara lain dengan peningkatan kinerja sistem drainase, sumur resapan, penerapan efisiensi energi dan penggunaan energi ramah lingkungan, penerapan eco-office serta efisiensi proses dan prosedur kerja dalam pelayanan penumpang di bandara.Kata kunci : bandar udara, adaptasi, perubahan iklim

Abstract

As a developing country, Indonesia has voluntarily committed to reduce its green-house gases(GHGs) emissions by 26% with its self-financing, or 41% with addition of foreign aids, by year 2020.This target will carry consequences for Indonesia to make an action plan and at the same time tochoose which low carbon technologies (LCTs) are employed in reducing its GHGs. This paper willfocus on introducing LCTs for energy sector of Indonesia. LCTs option for reducing CO2 emissionin Indonesia is suggested for both energy supply and energy demand sides. Energy technology forsupply side is prioritized for clean coal, geothermal and renewable energy technologies includingtechnologies for biomass, hydro, wind and solar. Prioritized energy technology for demand sideis applied to energy efficiency for industries, residential and commercial buildings. Besides, softtechnologies such as energy audit, energy rating and labeling are also proposed. For public bustransportation and taxi, a cleaner fuel of gas as a substitution to fossil fuel or gasoline is highlysuggested to be used. Transport demand management is also proposed to be improved, like usingintelligent transportation system (ITS) and mass rapid transport system (MRTS)

Abstract

Dalam kegiatan operasional di Pabrik Kelapa Sawit, disamping akan dihasilkan produk utama (Main Product) berupa CPO dan PKO, juga akan dihasilkan produk sampingan (By-Product), baik berupa limbah padat maupun limbah cair dan juga polutan ke udara bebas. Berdasarkan jenis dan komposisi limbah di atas diketahui bahwa limbah cair memiliki kontribusi yang besar, yaitu antara 55% sampai 67% dari total TBS yang diolah. Limbah Pabrik Kelapa Sawit memiliki potensi nutrisi yang tinggi sebagai sumber nutrisi bagi pertumbuhan tanaman. Aplikasi Limbah Cair Pabrik Kelapa Sawit (LC PKS), Janjang Kosong, Kompos dan Abu Janjangmampu berperan sebagai pengganti pupuk konvensional (pupuk anorganik) yang murah dan dengan kandungan unsur hara (nutrisi) yang cuku memadai untuk menggantikan sumber nutrisi yang dibutuhkan tanaman. Pemilihan bentuk dan metode aplikasi limbah harus dengan memperhatikan tyopografi, jenis tanah, jarak areal aplikasi dari PKS, biaya serta faktor lingkungan.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to identity the chemical compounds of the piper sp.Fruit originated from Papua, that has been used as “sirih pinang”(chew betle)and to determine the antibacterial activity of hexane and chloroform extraxt ofpiper sp. to Gram + bacteria isolates(Bacillus subtilis, Listeria monocytogenesdan Staphylococcus aureus) and Gram – bacteria isolates(Salmonellatyphimurium, Eschericia coli and Pseudomonas pseudomallei). The extractconcentration were 50 % and 25 %, and every treatment consisted of 3replications. The bacteriae growth media was Mueller Hinton Agar(MHA). Theresult of phytochemical screening of Piper sp.fruit(ether, alcohol,and waterextracts)showed that it contained esential oil, lipid,emodol,tannin,reducingsugar, anthrasenoid,polyuronide,glucocide,steroid glycoside.

Abstract

Duriangkang resevoir (62.000.000 m ) physically located in DuriangkangCatchement Area of Batam island. The main function of Duriangkangresevoir is the water resources to support 78 % of drinking water supplyneeds of Batam Island with the processing capacity amounting to 3000liter/second. The main problem of Duriangkang Reservoir are : (1)industrial waste water from Batamindo Industrial Zone has been extremelypolluted with COD conten (134,61 mg/liter) exceeding the Waste WaterQuality Standard Group II (80 mg/liter), (2) domestically waste water fromdomestic activity in Duriangkang Catchment Area has also beenextremely polluted with BOD5 conten (58,22 mg/liter) exceeding theWaste Water Quality Standard Group II (50 mg/liter). This research tostudy influent of industrial waste water and domestically waste water tocarrying capacity of Duriangkang Reservoir.
