Abstract

Purpose: Badan Amil Zakat Nasional (BAZNAS) is Indonesia’s national statutory zakat institution responsible for managing Zakat, Infaq, and Sedekah (ZIS) funds for mustahik, including microenterprise operators and economically vulnerable groups. This study analyzes the financial performance of BAZNAS East Jakarta for 2021–2022 using the official ratio framework issued by Puskas BAZNAS.Methodology: A descriptive quantitative approach was applied using audited financial statements for the year ending 31 December 2022. The analysis employs three Puskas BAZNAS ratio indicators, namely the fundraising cost ratio, the amil fund ratio covering zakat and infaq/sedekah allocations, and the operational cost growth ratio, calculated and interpreted based on standardized benchmarks. Results: The fundraising cost ratio indicates inefficiency in both years (2021: 111%, 2022: 102%). The amil fund ratios remain in the good category and show improvement, while the operational cost growth ratio is stable and proportional to ZIS collection growth. Conclusions: BAZNAS East Jakarta demonstrates strong governance in amil fund allocation and operational efficiency, although fundraising efficiency requires improvement to maximize distributable funds.Limitations: The study is limited to two years of data from a single regional office.Contributions: The study applies the Puskas BAZNAS ratio framework empirically and provides a replicable performance evaluation model for zakat institutions.

Abstract

Purpose: This study critically examines the development of early Islamic law in Mecca through an analysis of Harald Motzki’s The Origins of Islamic Jurisprudence: Meccan Fiqh Before the Classical Schools in 2002. It focuses on the scholarly contributions of ‘Ata’ ibn Abi Rabah and Ibn Jurayj in shaping Meccan fiqh in the second century Hijri and engages with historiographical debates on the authenticity of early legal traditions.Methodology: A qualitative library research design was employed. Data were obtained from systematic reviews of primary and secondary sources, including Motzki’s work, Musannaf ‘Abd al-Razzaq, and key studies by Schacht, Hallaq, Calder, and El-Shamsy. Thematic analysis was used to examine debates on isnad criticism, hadith authenticity, and socio-political influences on early Islamic legal development. Results: Motzki’s analysis demonstrates that legal transmissions from Ibn Jurayj to ‘Ata’ ibn Abi Rabah in Musannaf ‘Abd al-Razzaq are highly likely to be authentic. Variations in transmission styles, including legal reasoning, uncertainty, and alternative citations, make systematic fabrication implausible. Early Meccan fiqh is shown to be shaped by both revelatory sources and local socio-political contexts. Conclusions: Motzki provides a balanced alternative to extreme skepticism and traditionalist approaches, showing that early Islamic jurisprudence was a dynamic and context-based legal process prior to madhhab formation.Limitations: The study is limited to Motzki’s textual corpus and does not include comparative regional legal sources. Contributions: It contributes to Islamic legal historiography by demonstrating the value of the isn?d-cum-matn method in reassessing early legal authenticity.

Abstract

Purpose: This study investigates the partial and simultaneous effects of work commitment, work discipline, and competence on teacher performance at Sekolah Guang Ming Medan, a private educational institution in North Sumatra, Indonesia, where suboptimal teacher performance has been observed in commitment consistency, disciplinary adherence, and professional competency alignment.Methodology: A quantitative survey design was employed. The study population comprised all 53 permanent teachers at the school, and a census sampling technique enrolled all 53 individuals as respondents. Data were collected through structured Likert-scale questionnaires. Instrument validity was assessed using Pearson correlation and reliability via Cronbach's alpha. Classical assumption tests and multiple linear regression analyses were conducted using IBM SPSS Statistics version 20.0.Results: All instruments were valid and highly reliable. Work commitment (t = 2.285, p = .003), work discipline (t = 1.850, p = .000), and competence (t = 1.760, p = .004) each exerted positive and significant partial effects on teacher performance. The simultaneous F-test confirmed joint significance (F = 175.34, p = .000), with the three predictors jointly explaining 81.2% of the variance in teacher performance (Adjusted R² = 0.812). Conclusions: Competence produced the largest marginal performance gain (B = 0.213), followed by work discipline (B = 0.161) and work commitment (B = 0.048).Limitations: The single-school census design restricts generalizability, and the cross-sectional approach limits causal inference.Contributions: This study provides the first integrated threepredictor quantitative analysis of teacher performance determinants at Sekolah Guang Ming Medan, offering evidencebased guidance for school human resource management.

Abstract

Purpose: The Indonesian telecommunications market is intensely competitive, and student consumers represent a strategically important segment for SIM card operators. This study investigates the effects of brand image, product quality, price, and customer satisfaction on Telkomsel SIM card user loyalty among undergraduate students of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Labuhanbatu.Methodology: A quantitative survey design was employed with a sample of 100 active Telkomsel SIM card users selected through convenience sampling. Primary data were collected using an online questionnaire with a five-point Likert scale. Classical assumption tests including normality, heteroscedasticity, and multicollinearity confirmed model eligibility. Results: The regression equation Y = 2.459 + 0.267X1 + 0.122X2 + 0.355X3 + 0.280X4 shows that brand image (t = 2.214, p = .029), price (t = 4.295, p = .000), and customer satisfaction (t = 4.063, p = .000) each exerted a positive and significant effect on loyalty. Product quality was directionally positive but did not reach significance (p = .057).Conclusions: Price and customer satisfaction are the dominant individual drivers of Telkomsel SIM card loyalty in the student segment. Brand image also contributes significantly, while product quality approaches but does not cross the significance threshold.Limitations: The convenience sample from a single university faculty, the cross-sectional design, and the absence of service quality as a predictor limit generalizability and model completeness.Contributions: This study provides empirical evidence of the relative importance of four loyalty determinants in the student telecommunications market in North Sumatra.
