Abstract

This study examines the theological and normative foundations of Islamic education as the primary basis for developing a holistic and adaptive educational system. Islamic education is viewed as a process of forming insan kamil (the complete human being), characterized by a balance between spiritual, moral, and intellectual dimensions, aimed at fostering closeness to Allah SWT and developing individual potential in both worldly and hereafter contexts. The normative foundation integrates Islamic ethical and moral values into the curriculum, aligning them with social values and the state constitution, such as Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution, in order to cultivate responsible and well-characterized citizens.   This research employs a qualitative method using a literature review and critical analysis to evaluate the implementation and relevance of theological and normative foundations in contemporary Islamic education. The findings highlight the importance of developing a holistic curriculum that integrates spiritual, intellectual, emotional, and social aspects, as well as implementing learning methods that are responsive to technological advancements and social dynamics. Islamic education needs to synergize with various stakeholders to address global challenges and to produce a generation that excels academically while also possessing moderate and tolerant character.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the goals and principles of Islamic education in the context of shaping insan kamil (the perfect human being) in the modern era, which is characterized by technological advancement, globalization, and shifting social values. Islamic education is not merely concerned with intellectual development but also emphasizes the harmonious cultivation of spiritual, moral, and social dimensions based on the Qur’an and Hadith. Using a qualitative approach through literature review and conceptual analysis of classical and contemporary sources, this study finds that the primary goal of Islamic education is to form individuals who are faithful, knowledgeable, and virtuous, capable of contributing to modern civilization without losing their Islamic identity. The fundamental principles of Islamic education—namely tawhid (monotheism), balance, responsible freedom, and public benefit—serve as philosophical foundations in responding to the challenges of modernization and secularization. The findings indicate that shaping insan kamil in the modern era requires a reconstruction of the Islamic educational paradigm toward an integrative model that promotes character development, digital literacy, and social ethics grounded in Islamic values. Thus, Islamic education is expected to produce globally competent individuals who remain committed to transcendental principles.

Abstract

This study aims to philosophically analyze the nature, objectives, and principles of Islamic education from the perspective of the Qur’an and Sunnah. The research employs a qualitative approach using a library research method by examining various relevant primary and secondary sources. The findings reveal that Islamic education is a holistic process oriented toward developing human innate potential (fitrah) in a balanced manner, encompassing spiritual, intellectual, and moral dimensions. The primary goal of Islamic education is to form insan kamil (the perfect human), characterized by the integration of faith, knowledge, and action, as well as the ability to fulfill the roles of servant of God and vicegerent on earth. The principles of Islamic education are grounded in the Qur’an and Sunnah and are implemented through an integrated approach that includes cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains. Furthermore, Islamic education is required to adapt to contemporary developments without losing its fundamental values. Therefore, Islamic education functions not only as a means of knowledge transfer but also as a value system that shapes the character and morality of learners comprehensively.

Abstract

This article explores in depth the concept of the essence of human beings in Islamic perspective as formulated by Djumransyah, a modern Indonesian Islamic education thinker. The study highlights the dimensions of humans as physical and spiritual beings, both individual and social, endowed with innate religiosity (fitrah), and entrusted with the responsibility as God’s vicegerent (khalifah) on earth. Using a descriptive-analytical approach based on literature review, this research finds that Djumransyah developed a holistic paradigm of Islamic education rooted in the Qur’an and Sunnah while remaining responsive to contemporary challenges. The findings emphasize the importance of an Islamic education system that fosters balanced human development spiritual, intellectual, moral, and social in order to achieve insan kamil as the ultimate goal of Islamic education.

Abstract

This qualitative study examines educators' perceptions of the meaning of Broken Home and its impacts at SMA Negeri 1 Astanajapura Cirebon. Employing interviews and documentation studies with five teachers, the research reveals that Broken Home is perceived not merely as parental divorce, but encompasses broader family dysfunctions including disharmony, parental loss, and lack of affection. The observed educational impacts involve juvenile delinquency, learning disengagement, declining academic performance, social withdrawal, and intense jealousy. Consequently, the study underscores the necessity for a holistic Islamic guidance and counseling approach, prioritizing emotional support and spiritually-grounded interventions.
