Abstract

Education plays a crucial role in shaping the personality of individuals and groups, as outlined in Law Number 20 of 2003 on the National Education System. Education is systematically designed to develop students' potential in various aspects, including spirituality, personality, intelligence, and skills. Over time, education continues to evolve in response to social, cultural, scientific, and technological dynamics. This has given rise to various educational thought schools that reflect responses to the changing needs of society. Since the beginning of civilization, educational schools of thought have been an ongoing discourse, generating new ideas in response to previous ones. Understanding these schools of thought provides educators with historical insights, helping them comprehend the connections between past experiences, current needs, and future anticipations, and apply them within the context of contemporary education.

Abstract

Abstract

The development of Information Systems has made information a primary necessity while also transforming the role of managers in organizational management. With advances in information technology, operational activities have become more accurate and timely, enabling managers to analyze their performance more easily. Initially, Management Information Systems (MIS) did not involve technology, but over time, MIS has become inseparable from technology. MIS has increasingly garnered attention, especially in the fields of education and business.  One of the main components in operating an information system is human resources, or brainware. Brainware plays a crucial role as the designer, operator, and user of computer systems and is responsible for managing hardware and software to produce the required information. The concept of a computer as a unified system consists of three inseparable elements: hardware, software, and brainware, which support each other. Without any of these elements, the system cannot function optimally. Management Information Systems integrate their components to provide relevant and timely information. This information comprises processed data that supports decision-making and achieving organizational goals. Generally, information systems include communication, routine transactions, management, and information required by an organization’s internal and external parties.

Abstract

This study discusses the Educational Management Information System (EMIS), which is a combination of three main components: system, information, and management. A system is defined as a group of interacting elements to achieve a common goal, while information is data that has been processed into a more meaningful and useful form for decision-making. Management refers to the process of managing resources to achieve organizational goals effectively and efficiently. In the context of education, EMIS serves to collect, process, and disseminate information needed in the educational management process. Furthermore, EMIS also plays an important role in the planning, control, and evaluation of educational activities. With this system, education managers can make more accurate and data-based decisions, thereby improving the overall quality of education. This study emphasizes the importance of applying information technology in educational management to support the development of a better education system.

Abstract

In the era of globalization, information systems play a crucial role in supporting the success of organizations, including educational institutions. Educational management information systems (SIMDIK) have become a primary necessity for managing data and information efficiently, replacing less effective manual methods. SIMDIK functions to collect, process, and disseminate information, thereby assisting educational institutions in planning and carrying out activities aligned with their vision, mission, and objectives to achieve quality education. This paper explores the basic concepts of information and information systems, including the relationship between facts, data, and information as the fundamental components of an information system. An information system is defined as a collection of components involving people, procedures, and data processing tools, both manual and electronic, working together to produce valuable information. By understanding these fundamentals, readers are expected to more easily comprehend the importance of SIMDIK in the field of education.

Abstract

Facing the challenges of globalization, character education in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI) requires an innovative approach to instill strong national and patriotic values. This research addresses the problem of ineffective utilization of rich local culture, such as the tales of Nyi Roro Kidul and Lagaligo, which hold significant potential as contextual learning mediums. Employing a qualitative case study approach, the researchers conducted observations, interviews, and document analysis in several MIs. The findings indicate that the integration of local narratives is effectively implemented through storytelling, dramatization, group discussions, and story-based projects. MI teachers demonstrated innovation by adapting the curriculum, incorporating relevant local narrative elements. This learning approach proved successful in increasing student interest, helping them understand noble local cultural values, and strengthening their local identity. In turn, this reinforced local identity positively impacted their sense of nationhood and nationalism, fostering pride in their history and ancestral heritage. In conclusion, the integration of local narratives is a powerful strategy to enrich character education in MI, create meaningful learning experiences, and simultaneously cultivate local identity while strengthening nationhood and nationalism.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the perfection of Islamic teachings as a divine religion that governs all aspects of human life, as well as the importance of understanding the fundamental framework of Islamic teachings for Muslims, particularly the younger generation and university students. This research employs a qualitative-descriptive approach using the library research method, analyzing primary sources of Islamic teachings, namely the Qur'an, the Sunnah, and ijtihad, along with contemporary Islamic literature. The main findings of this study indicate that Islam is not merely a ritualistic religion but a comprehensive and solution-oriented way of life that addresses various life challenges. However, many Muslims have yet to fully and deeply understand Islamic teachings, often practicing the religion in symbolic or formal ways only. The implication of this research is the need for more structured and in-depth Islamic education to cultivate awareness among Muslims about the importance of comprehensively understanding Islam. Applying the understanding of Islam’s basic framework can help Muslim individuals live consciously and responsibly in accordance with the principles of sharia. The originality of this research lies in its effort to integrate the three primary sources of Islamic teachings as the foundation for a holistic understanding, while also offering a practical approach to introducing the fundamentals of Islam to students and general readers. This study serves as a significant contribution to strengthening religious literacy and understanding Islam as a complete and perfect religion.

Abstract

This study aims to unpack the paradigm of "new minister, new policy" in the innovation of educational policy in Indonesia and to analyze the "shifting, not changing" approach promoted by the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Prof. Abdul Muti, in the pursuit of quality learning. The research design employed is qualitative policy analysis, focusing on a case study of Prof. Muti’s ideas and policies. The main findings indicate that the "shifting, not changing" approach—rooted in the principle of al-muhafazah ‘ala al-qadim al-shalih wa al-akhdzu bi al-jadid al-aslah (preserving the good from the past and adopting the better from the new)—seeks to create adaptive policy continuity while avoiding radical overhauls. The implication of this research is that sustainable educational policy can be achieved through innovative conservation, in which the positive elements of previous policies are maintained while integrating updates relevant to 21st-century needs. This has the potential to reduce resistance to change and build stability within the educational system. The originality of this study lies in its in-depth analysis of the philosophy and practical implementation of the "shifting, not changing" approach as a solution to the unproductive cycle of policy change, offering an alternative framework for educational innovation in Indonesia.
