Abstract

This article aims to analyze the role of curiosity as a psychological and ethical strategy in overcoming political polarization and enhancing the quality of democratic discourse. This study employs a qualitative method with a literature review approach, analyzing recent empirical findings from political psychology—specifically the research of Todd Kashdan and colleagues—as well as theoretical reflections on public discourse and the ethics of listening. The results of the study indicate that the primary barrier in cross-partisan political conversation is not merely differences in viewpoints, but rather misunderstandings regarding the level of intellectual openness within one’s own group (in-group misperception). Curiosity is proven to be positively associated with openness, intellectual humility, and reduced social distance between political groups. Furthermore, simple psychological interventions that correct perceptions of internal group norms are capable of increasing curiosity and the quality of political interaction. This article concludes that curiosity and the practice of empathetic listening are essential foundations for depolarization and the strengthening of discourse ethics in contemporary democracy.

Abstract

The increasing complexity of the global economy requires each country to establish an economic system that is stable, equitable, and sustainable. Indonesia, as the country with the largest Muslim population in the world, has significant potential to develop Islamic economics as a driving force of its national economy. Islamic economics is based on the teachings of the Qur’an and Hadith, aiming to achieve comprehensive societal welfare through the principles of justice, balance, and equitable wealth distribution. Instruments such as zakat, waqf, and the prohibition of wealth hoarding play an important role in reducing social inequality, supported by the growth of the halal industry, Islamic finance, Islamic capital markets, and Sharia-based microenterprises. However, its implementation still faces challenges, including low public literacy, suboptimal regulation, and uneven infrastructure readiness. Therefore, comprehensive strategies are needed to optimize the role of Islamic economics in strengthening national economic stability.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the rise of political violence fueled by the convergence of inflammatory political rhetoric and firearm accessibility. In the digital era, political communication has shifted from policy persuasion to an instrument of dehumanization that threatens the stability of deliberative democracy. This study aims to analyze how socio-psychological mechanisms and media ecosystems contribute to the phenomenon of contemporary political violence. The research method employed is a qualitative approach with library research. Secondary data were gathered from reputable scientific literature, policy reports, and relevant textbooks. Qualitative content analysis was conducted by integrating cognitive-neoassociation theory, totalism theory, and deliberative democracy theory to map the causality between mass communication patterns and the probability of violence. The results indicate that extreme political rhetoric creates a "siege mentality" that dehumanizes political opponents as existential threats. This phenomenon is validated as stochastic terrorism, where social media algorithms act as incubators for radicalization that trigger lone-wolf violent actions. The availability of firearms further exacerbates the situation by providing physical capability to ideologically radicalized individuals. In conclusion, the threat to democracy today is systemic, originating from the erosion of communication norms at the elite level to the manipulation of information in the digital sphere. Effective mitigation requires the construction of political "cooling structures," media algorithm regulation, and the restoration of discursive ethics to return human dignity to the political arena.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of Islamic banking in encouraging financial inclusion in Indonesia. Financial inclusion is the main focus of economic development programs, with the aim of providing broader and more equitable financial access for all levels of society. This study is motivated by the still limited level of financial inclusion in Indonesia, especially for people who have not been served by formal financial institutions. The purpose of this study is to identify the contribution of Islamic banks in expanding financial access and to understand the obstacles and opportunities faced. This study uses a qualitative approach with secondary data analysis, including Islamic bank financial reports, data from the Financial Services Authority (OJK), and related literature reviews. This study also uses a qualitative approach to gather in depth insights on this topic. Qualitative data were analyzed using Strauss and Corbin’s grounded theory, which involved three main steps: open coding, axial coding, and selective coding. The main findings indicate that Islamic banks have a strategic role in increasing financial inclusion through inclusive Sharia-based products, such as microfinance, interest-free savings, and technology-based digital services. The implication is that improving Islamic financial education and developing digital technology are needed to expand the reach of services. In conclusion, Islamic banks play an important role in supporting financial inclusion by providing financial access to underserved communities. Better collaboration, regulatory support, and development of Sharia-compliant financial products can expand financial inclusion.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of Islamic financial literacy in shaping economic ethics among urban Muslims in the digital era. In the context of increasingly complex financial life and the deepening penetration of technology in urban society, Islamic financial literacy serves as a critical foundation for fostering ethical economic behavior based on Islamic principles. The research adopts a qualitative design using a descriptive approach and library research, analyzing both classical and contemporary literature on Islamic economics, Islamic ethics, and urban financial behavior. The main findings reveal that a higher level of Islamic financial literacy positively correlates with ethical decision-making, especially regarding the use of sharia- compliant digital financial services. The study also identifies challenges such as gaps in conceptual understanding and the dominance of conventional financial products in the digital market. The implications highlight the need for more systematic and integrated educational strategies to enhance awareness and engagement of urban Muslims in the Islamic economic ecosystem. The study concludes that Islamic financial literacy is not merely a technical knowledge component but a spiritual instrument that sustains the integrity of economic life in the modern era.
