Aim (Tujuan): Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat Vokasi (JPMV) bertujuan sebagai media publikasi ilmiah untuk mendiseminasikan hasil-hasil kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat yang berbasis pada penerapan ilmu pengetahuan, teknologi, dan seni (IPTEKS) di lapangan. Jurnal ini berfokus pada upaya pemberdayaan masyarakat, inovasi pembelajaran, serta pemanfaatan teknologi informasi guna memberikan solusi nyata atas permasalahan di masyarakat dan meningkatkan kualitas hidup secara berkelanjutan. Scope (Ruang Lingkup): JPMV menerima artikel ilmiah dari hasil kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat yang mencakup, namun tidak terbatas pada bidang-bidang berikut: Pemanfaatan Teknologi Informasi: Implementasi perangkat lunak, sistem informasi, dan literasi digital untuk meningkatkan efisiensi kerja di berbagai sektor. Pendidikan dan Pembelajaran: Inovasi metodologi pengajaran, penyuluhan bagi guru dan siswa, serta pengembangan media pembelajaran berbasis teknologi. Pemberdayaan Ekonomi Masyarakat: Pendampingan UMKM, transformasi digital bagi usaha mikro, dan pengembangan kewirausahaan. Teknik dan Vokasi: Penerapan teknologi tepat guna dalam bidang teknik dan keterampilan praktis untuk masyarakat pedesaan maupun perkotaan. Sosial dan Kemasyarakatan: Program peningkatan kesadaran hukum, kesehatan masyarakat, dan pelatihan soft skills bagi kelompok sosial tertentu.

Abstract

The Free Nutritional Meal Program (MBG) is a national strategic program aimed at improving the nutritional quality of the community, particularly students. One of the challenges in its implementation is the delay in food distribution, which can affect the quality of service and the effectiveness of the program. This Community Service Activity aims to improve the understanding and capabilities of managers and officers of the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) in utilizing digital technology through the implementation of a food distribution route optimization application. The activity was carried out at the SPPG in Baru Pasar VIII Village, Tanjung Beringin, Hinai District, Langkat Regency, using methods such as socialization, training, demonstrations, and simulations of application use. The materials provided covered the concept of service digitization, distribution route optimization, and practical use of digital map-based applications. The results of the activity showed an increase in participants' understanding of the importance of digital technology in supporting MBG operations, an increase in their ability to use the route optimization application, and an increased awareness of the importance of efficiency and timeliness in food distribution. Participants also responded positively to the implementation of a system that can help determine more effective and efficient delivery routes. The implementation of digital technology through the route optimization application has been proven to support the improvement of SPPG service quality in implementing the Free Nutritional Meal Program in a more timely, efficient, and sustainable manner.

Abstract

Bukit Lawang is one of the leading ecotourism destinations in North Sumatra, renowned for its Orangutan conservation and the natural beauty of Gunung Leuser National Park. However, this great potential has not been accompanied by independent digital promotion optimization by the local community. Most tourism stakeholders still rely on third parties (external travel agents) and have not maximized the use of the village's digital assets. This Community Service activity (PKM) aims to improve the skills of the Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis) and local youth in creative content creation (photo/video) and management of the official tourism village website. The implementation method uses the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach divided into a preparation stage, implementation stage (theoretical and practical training), and evaluation stage using pre-test and post-test questionnaires analyzed with the Normalized Gain (N-Gain) test and the non-parametric Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test. Results show a significant increase in partner understanding, with a “High” N-Gain category across all indicators: 0.77 in photography/videography techniques, 0.75 in video editing skills via smartphone, and 0.72 in website dashboard operational capabilities. A Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test confirmed that the increase from pre-test to post-test (mean 54.88 to 78.72) was statistically significant (Z = -4.478; p < 0.001). The long-term impact is the availability of independently managed digital promotional media to attract both domestic and international tourist visits directly without intermediaries

Abstract

A culture of independent learning is a crucial competency for junior high school students, supporting both academic success and character development. However, many students still rely heavily on guidance from teachers and parents to manage their learning processes. This community service initiative aims to foster a culture of independent learning through a self-management training program covering concepts such as self-management, goal setting, time management, self-control, and the evaluation of learning outcomes. Implementation methods included a needs assessment, material delivery via interactive lectures, discussions, simulations, practical exercises in creating study schedules, and ongoing guidance. Evaluation was conducted using observations, questionnaires, and participant reflections to measure improvements in understanding and changes in study habits. The results indicate an increased understanding of the importance of self-management, improved skills in setting study targets and schedules, and a growth in motivation and responsibility regarding independent learning. The training program positively influenced the development of study habits that are more structured, disciplined, and goal-oriented. Consequently, self-management training serves as an effective strategy for fostering a culture of independent learning among junior high school students and warrants sustainable implementation through collaboration between schools, teachers, and parents.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI), particularly Machine Learning (ML), has significantly transformed the educational sector by enabling the use of intelligent applications to support teaching and learning activities. However, the widespread adoption of AI also introduces new challenges related to personal data protection and intellectual property rights. This community service program aimed to improve the knowledge and competencies of teachers and students regarding the fundamentals of Machine Learning while enhancing awareness of ethical and lawful AI utilization. The program was conducted in the school's computer laboratory and involved teachers and students as participants. The implementation employed the Participatory Learning and Action (PLA) approach, including needs assessment, educational seminars, hands-on training, AI application demonstrations, practical exercises, interactive discussions, and evaluation through pre-tests and post-tests. The training materials covered Machine Learning concepts, AI applications in education, personal data protection, and intellectual property rights. The results demonstrated a significant improvement in participants' understanding of Machine Learning applications in education, the importance of protecting personal data, and respecting copyright and academic integrity. Participants also showed high enthusiasm throughout the training, indicating that the program successfully enhanced both digital literacy and legal awareness. This community service initiative is expected to serve as a sustainable educational model for promoting innovative, secure, ethical, and legally compliant AI adoption within educational institutions.

Abstract

Imbalance in learning readiness levels and age diversity (multi-age) in elementary schools often pose challenges in teaching abstract 3D geometry concepts. This Community Service Project (PkM) aimed to implement multi-age differentiated instruction through a combination of concrete media (sticks and modeling clay) and PhET digital simulations to enhance students' understanding of 3D geometric shapes. The project involved 4th and 5th-grade students grouped heterogeneously, a team of lecturers as supervisors and evaluators, and university students as facilitating mentors. The implementation method adopted a Blended Experiential Learning framework consisting of four stages: initial diagnostic mapping, student mentor training, differentiated learning intervention (introduction, concrete and digital exploration stations, and student product presentations), and evaluation. The results indicated a significant improvement in students' conceptual understanding of geometry, evidenced by an increase in the mean student score from 47.17 (pre-test) to 85.16 (post-test), with an average N-gain score of 0.72 (high category). The synergy of blended media successfully facilitated students' cognitive transition from the concrete operational stage to visual-abstract comprehension, while multi-age grouping triggered effective peer tutoring. The active participation rate reached 92%, proving that this approach is adaptive and inclusive in accommodating the heterogeneity of elementary school students.
