Abstract

Water is a natural resource that is indispensable for the livelihood of many people. Good water is water that meet the requirements of physics, microbiology, chemical. Chemically there is no water in the form of chemical substance Arsenic, Iron, chloride, and hardness in the form CaCO3. Hardness is a condition with excessive limecontent in the water. Hardness with high concentrations consumed in a long period of time can be detrimental to health. Padukuhan Bandung is one of the padukuhan that are in Padukuhan Bandung Kecamatan Playen Kabupaten Gunung Kidul who use wells for drinking and house hold needs. Some factor that interfere with residents’ wells are the white deposits on the water that cause public health problems, and the frequent occurrence of blockage of the channel pipe is used. This kind of research method is descriptive. Result on this study, obtained 3.58% af water wells that do not meet the requirements of the 28 samples examineted. Conclusion 3.58%  watter wells not meet the requirements.

Abstract

Abstract

The aim of this research is to synthesize nanomagnetic Fe3O4 using matoa (Pometia Pinnata) leaf extract and test its antibacterial properties against Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) and Escherichia coli (E. coli). The resulting nanomagnets were characterized using a Vibrating Sample Magnetometer (VSM) to determine magnetic properties, phase type, and crystal size using X-ray diffraction (XRD), morphology, and element composition using Scanning Electron Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (SEM-EDX) and functional group using Fourier Transform Infra Red (FTIR). Furthermore, the Fe3O4 obtained was tested for antibacterial activity against Gram-Positive and Gram-negative bacteria, namely S. aureus and E. coli. Characterization results show that the average crystal size of Fe3O4 is 12.07 nm and has magnetic properties of 68.01 emu/g, morphology shows that it forms aggregates of unequal sizes. FTIR characterization results show the presence of -OH, -CH, C=C, H-C-H, C-O, and Fe-O groups. The results of the anti-bacterial Fe3O4 test were able to inhibit S. aureus and E. coli bacteria at a concentration of 5000 ppm with an inhibitory zone diameter of 11,0 mm and 10,5 mm respectively. These results show that the nanomagnetic compound Fe3O4 has antibacterial activity.

Abstract

Bagasse waste, a by-product of the sugar production process, has received attention as a biomass fuel. This bagasse waste can be utilized directly as boiler fuel for industrial needs. The effect of bagasse waste quality on boiler efficiency needs to be investigated to determine its potential as an alternative fuel. Sugarcane bagasse waste used as a boiler is first analyzed for quality such as Calorific Value, and ultimate and proximate analysis. Furthermore, the effect of using bagasse on boiler efficiency was observed. These data are taken from the boiler daily log book and laboratory. Analysis of the data obtained shows the optimal calorific value of the fuel used reaches 2347.48 kcal/kg. then, the most optimal boiler efficiency reaches 70.34%. While the heat losses that have been calculated reach up to 28%. The results of this study contribute to a broader understanding of the interaction of biomass fuel quality and industrial boiler performance, thus providing valuable insights for sustainable sugarcane waste management in the context of renewable energy production and environmental sustainability

Abstract

The iron sand sample came from Tembakak Beach, Pesisir Barat Regency, was prepared and then analyzed using XRF, obtained an Fe content of 58.294%; Si 18.525%; Ti 8.775%; Al 6.785%; Ca 3.885%; K 1.624%, as well as minor elements with a content below 0.5%. Titanium dioxide (TiO2) can be obtained from ilmenite (FeTiO3), by hydrometallurgical extraction methods. The extraction results were analyzed using XRF, obtained TiO2 at varying concentrations of HCl 7 Μ of 15.033%, HCl 9 Μ of 16.367%, and HCl 12 Μ of 17.421%. XRD characterization of TiO2 extraction results with variations in HCl concentration of 12 Μ shows that TiO2 has a rutile crystal phase with a tetragonal crystal structure, and has a particle size of 33.92 nm so that the TiO2 particles obtained are nanoparticles that play an important role in technological and industrial development.

Abstract

This research used blood cockle shells (Anadara granosa) originating from consumption waste in the Batam City area. Cockle shell samples were taken and prepared for analysis of mineral content using the FTIR method, including CaCO3 and other minerals. The blood cockle shells were applied to ultisol soil in Batam City to improve its fertility. The shells were crushed into a fine powder, then mixed with ultisol soil with several treatments, including 0 grams (control), 10 grams, 20 grams, and 30 grams with a soil mass composition of 220 grams for each treatment. The mixture of soil and shell powder was stirred until homogeneous before being applied to mustard greens plants. Based on the research results, the addition of shell powder had an effect on the level of plant fertility. The experimental results carried out showed an effect on each treatment given. This is in line with statistical testing with analysis of variance, obtaining a sig. value of 0.037 < α = 5% (0.05), indicating a significant difference in treatment for each treatment.

Abstract

Balakacida leaves (Chromolaena odorata L) are plants known for their allelopathic properties, which can be utilized as natural herbicides. Empirically, they are used as wound healing agents, mouthwash, anti-diarrheal, antimicrobial, and anti-inflammatory medicines. The leaves are processed by squeezing them to extract their liquid, which is then applied to skin wounds for treatment (Marianne, 2014). Flavonoid components in balakacida leaves have antimicrobial effects. The focus of this research is to determine the IC50 value of balakacida leaves and characterize their antioxidant ability. Multi-step maceration using polarity-based solvents (n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and ethanol) is employed for extraction. The DPPH technique is utilized to evaluate antioxidant capacity. Phytochemical analysis has revealed active secondary metabolites with antioxidant properties in the plant, including tannins, flavonoids, alkaloids, and steroids. The IC50 values for n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and ethanol extracts are 35.58, 14.24, and 12.73 ppm respectively, indicating very high antioxidant activity. According to Fitrah (2017), crude balakacida leaf extract exhibits antioxidant effects. These effects are attributed to the high content of flavonoids, which possess antioxidant activity capable of inhibiting the oxidation process.
