Abstract

This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of the Make A Match learning model in enhancing student learning outcomes in Civics Education (PKn), specifically on the topic “The Importance of Deliberation in My Life.” The background of this research is based on the low student motivation and learning outcomes often observed in Civics classes, caused by traditional, teacher-centered instructional approaches. To address this issue, an interactive and engaging model—Make A Match—was implemented, which encourages students to actively participate through a card-matching activity designed to reinforce key concepts in a fun and collaborative way. The research method used is a quasi-experimental design with a one-group pre-test and post-test. The sample consisted of 23 fifth-grade students from SD Islam Baitul A’la. Data collection was carried out using a multiple-choice test of 18 validated items administered before and after the intervention. The pre-test results showed a mean score of 44.70, indicating limited prior understanding. After the application of the Make A Match model, the post-test mean score increased significantly to 83.05. Hypothesis testing using the Z-test showed Zcount = 6.94, which is greater than Ztable = 1.64 at a significance level of 0.05, indicating a statistically significant improvement in learning outcomes. These findings support the conclusion that the Make A Match model is effective in improving students’ cognitive achievements in Civics Education. Additionally, it promotes collaboration, engagement, and enjoyment in learning. The model is recommended for broader application in elementary education to foster critical thinking, civic responsibility, and active classroom participation. t is recommended that future studies apply this model in different subjects and grade levels to explore its broader impact on active learning and civic competence.

Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the effectiveness of the application of the Jigsaw type cooperative learning model in improving the learning outcomes of Civic Education (PKn) students in grade V of SD Negeri 79 Lubuklinggau. This study is experimental research using the One Group Pretest and Post-test Design method. The number of class V students was 18 people who were the research sample. The instrument used was a multiple-choice test of 20 questions given before and after the application of the model. Based on the results of data analysis, a significant increase in student learning outcomes was obtained after the implementation of the Jigsaw learning model. Most students have achieved the Minimum Completeness Criteria (KKM) set by the school. The Jigsaw learning model can increase students' activeness, sense of responsibility, and the ability of cooperative skills in understanding the material. This study proposes the use of the Jigsaw learning model as an alternative to active learning in PKn subjects in elementary schools. Thus, the Jigsaw model has been shown to be effective in improving learning outcomes and student participation in PKn learning in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the reading literacy level of 6TH semester PGSD students toward two types of reading media, namely physical books and e-books. The background of this study is based on changes in students' reading patterns due to technological advances that have made it easier to access information through digital media. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with a case study approach. The research subjects consisted of 30 active sixth-semester students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected via an online questionnaire and analysed thematically. The results showed that 80% of students preferred e-books due to their practicality, efficiency, and flexibility in access. Among them, 45% were in the high literacy category, 37.5% in the moderate category, and 17.5% in the low category. Most students read to complete academic assignments, not out of personal interest. Reading barriers include technical, physical, and psychological factors. These findings highlight the importance of learning strategies that not only leverage technology but also promote the enhancement of interest and literacy skills comprehensively.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the effectiveness of the application of the inquiry learning model in improving student learning outcomes in IPAS (Integrated Natural and Social Sciences) for fourth-grade students at SD Negeri 59 Lubuklinggau. This research is motivated by the low learning outcomes and limited student engagement in IPAS classes, which are still dominated by conventional teaching methods and lack of exploratory learning activities. The study employed a quasi-experimental method using a one-group pretest-posttest design, in which students were first given a pretest, followed by learning sessions using the inquiry model, and concluded with a posttest. The results showed a significant improvement in learning outcomes, indicated by the increase in average scores from 44.70 in the pre-test to 83.05 in the post-test. The number of students achieving mastery also increased, going from 0 to 18. A statistical Z-test revealed Z_cal = 6.94 > Z_table = 1.64, which confirms the acceptance of the research hypothesis. These findings demonstrate that the inquiry learning model has a positive and significant impact on student achievement. We conclude that the inquiry model effectively enhances IPAS learning outcomes among elementary students. Practically, the study suggests that educators should consider implementing inquiry-based strategies to foster student curiosity and engagement. For future research, it is recommended to explore the integration of inquiry learning with digital tools or to investigate its impact across different grade levels and subjects.

Abstract

This study investigates student perceptions of using Game-Based Learning (GBL) to enhance English vocabulary acquisition among sixth-semester students of the English Education Program at Silampari University. Rooted in constructivist and multimedia learning theories, this research applies a quantitative method using a Likert-scale questionnaire to collect data from 13 purposively selected participants. The findings reveal that students perceive GBL as a highly motivational and engaging approach that supports vocabulary learning through interactivity, contextualization, and immediate feedback. While most students expressed positive attitudes toward GBL, moderate responses regarding vocabulary retention and confidence indicate the need for supplementary reinforcement strategies. Overall, the study underscores the effectiveness of GBL as a complementary method in English language teaching and suggests further pedagogical innovation tailored to learner needs.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the level of student concept understanding of Semester 2 Mathematics courses, identify the most difficult concepts to understand, and find forms of misconceptions and factors that influence them. The research used a qualitative descriptive approach with data collection techniques in the form of tests, in-depth interviews, classroom observations, and documentation. The research subjects were 2nd semester students of the Elementary School Teacher Education Study Program at PGRI Silampari University. The results showed that most students were in the moderate to low understanding category, with a tendency to memorize formulas without understanding their conceptual meaning. The most difficult materials to understand are function limits, mathematical logic, and linear function graphs. Common misconceptions include erroneous assumptions about the concept of limit and logical inference. Factors that influence understanding include initial ability, learning strategies, learning motivation, learning style, and learning environment. This study suggests the need for a learning approach that emphasizes conceptual understanding, the use of visual media, and the strengthening of contextual learning in order to create a more meaningful mathematics learning process.
