Abstract

The early stage of college is a crucial transitional period for new students, marked by the need to adjust to the higher education learning system. During this phase, first-year students often face a heavy academic workload, which can significantly affect their psychological well-being. This study aims to describe the impact of academic workload on stress levels and procrastination tendencies among early-semester university students. This research adopts a descriptive qualitative approach, utilizing open-ended questionnaires distributed online via Google Forms for data collection. The participants were first- and second-semester students selected through purposive sampling. The findings reveal that most students feel overwhelmed by the quantity and complexity of assignments. This contributes to heightened academic stress, as indicated by symptoms such as mental fatigue, anxiety, and decreased motivation to study. Furthermore, unmanaged stress was found to lead to procrastination behaviors, serving as a coping mechanism to avoid academic pressure. Therefore, educational institutions must play an active role in providing psychosocial support and time management training to help prevent the long-term negative effects on students' mental health.

Abstract

The school environment is a unified space in a formal educational institution that systematically implements guidance programs to help students develop their potential optimally, covering moral, spiritual, intellectual, emotional, social, and physical-motor aspects. Schools are not merely places for the "transfer of knowledge." The background of this research is the observed low respect among children at SDN 15 Lubuklinggau, where the principal acknowledged students’ generally good behaviour but insufficient respect toward parents. The school aims to strengthen the spiritual side based on family principles. The objective of this study is to describe and analyse the cultivation of moral values in elementary school children. The approach used in this study is a qualitative approach, intended to describe and analyse phenomena, social activities, and perceptions systematically and in depth. This research is qualitative descriptive, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results indicate that the school environment at SDN 15 Lubuklinggau fosters moral development through daily religious practices, teacher modelling, and integration of moral values in lessons, although challenges remain in consistency and parental involvement. The conclusion highlights that a supportive, family-like school environment is effective in promoting moral values but requires active collaboration between teachers and parents. This research implies the need for structured moral education programs and suggests future studies explore parental engagement strategies to reinforce moral cultivation in children.

Abstract

The research aims at explaining some differences between sentence formation in English and Lubuklinggau dialect. Lubuklinggau dialect derives from Palembang Malay language in South Sumatera and as the first and second language in Lubuklinggau. The data was taken from two movies ‘Alternative Math’ in English and ‘Meraih Cita’ in Lubuklinggau dialect. The transcription from oral language to the written form was carried out to analyze the sentence formation in both languages. The data was analyzed by identification, coding, classification, data reduction, description and conclusion drawing. The results show that there are some concerns on the grammatical rule in sentence formation such as copular usage, verb tense, declarative word order, interrogative structure, auxiliary modal use in questions, focus structure, clause embedding and sentence-final particles. Understanding the difference structure between the two languages are expected to improve pedagogical strategies in teaching English as a Foreign Language.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the completeness of learning outcomes of the effectiveness the Think Pair Share (TPS) strategy combined with video in improving students’ speaking skills at SMPN 2 Lubuklinggau. A pre-experimental method was applied using one group pre-test and post-test design, involving 38 eighth-grade students. The sampling technique used was random sampling technique. The prerequisite analysis technique uses normality test while the hypothesis used a sample t-test. The pre-test showed an average score of 58.57 with a standard deviation of 10.47, where only 29% of students reached the "Mastered" level. After four sessions of treatment using TPS with video, the post- test average increased to 70.89 with a standard deviation of 7.39, and 58% of students achieved the "Mastered" qualification. the results of these tests, it was obtained that tcount = 4.54, while with a significant level of α = 0.05, the ttable obtained was 1.687. This indicates that tcount > ttable, which is 4.54 > 1.687. Thus it can be said that Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected, the hypothesis proposed by this study can be accepted as true. So it can be concluded, that the application of the Think Pair Share strategy in speaking Learning of grade VIII.9 at SMPN 2 Lubuklinggau students is significantly completed.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the English Learning System at Ar-Risalah Islamic Modern Boarding School Lubuklinggau. This research used descriptive qualitative Method with participants who amounted to 3 groups of data sources namely students, English teacher and coordinator curriculum. Then, the technique in collecting data in this study used instrument triangulation namely, questionnaires and interviews based on Masters’s theory (2023). Furthermore, for data analysis this study used a questionnaire to calculate the percentage per indicator while interviews were analyzed qualitatively. The results show that the English curriculum implemented is relevant and beneficial for students. The assessment process runs well with various forms of evaluation, although it still needs strengthening on the aspect of student participation. The teaching done by teachers is considered effective because it uses varied methods that are tailored to the needs of students. Support for students also runs through additional guidance and adequate supporting facilities. School leadership plays an active role in improving the quality of learning through supervising and coaching teachers, although direct involvement in the classroom is still limited. In addition, the learning ecosystem at school is supportive, as seen from the collaboration with parents, communities, and the provision of innovation spaces and learning activities outside the classroom that support students' real-life experiences.

Abstract

Pancasila education is essential for shaping students' character and citizenship values, yet many elementary students still experience low learning outcomes due to conventional and less engaging teaching methods. Therefore, innovative learning media are needed to support student understanding and motivation. This study aims to determine whether monopoly media can improve Pancasila education learning outcomes for third-grade students at SD Negeri 5 B Srikaton. This classroom action research (PTK) involved 20 third-grade students comprising 9 males and 11 females. The learning media applied is monopoly media. Data collection techniques include interviews, observations, tests, and documentation, while data analysis employed mixed-method approaches. The research was conducted in two cycles, each consisting of the planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The results showed significant improvement in Pancasila education learning outcomes. In Cycle I, student learning completeness increased from 30% (Pre-test) to 55% (Post-test). In Cycle II, learning completeness reached 85%. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that monopoly learning media is effective in improving Pancasila education learning outcomes for third-grade elementary school students. These findings imply that teachers should integrate game-based learning media to increase student engagement and mastery of Pancasila concepts. Future research may explore the use of monopoly media in other subjects and different grade levels to determine its broader applicability.
