Abstract

This qualitative research in the form of a literature review or literature study was carried out because elementary school teachers were not familiar with the current learning model, such as the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model, for Indonesian language learning. The literature study approach is used in the research process. Based on a literature review that has been conducted in ten research journals on the use of the model in Indonesian learning in elementary school, it can be concluded that the PBL model can have a positive influence on high classes (70%) and low classes (30%). Abstract

This model emphasizes students working together to address a problem, ultimately esulting in the development of a product that showcases their abilities. The approach employed in this study is a systematic literature review (SLR). The research involved gathering various articles connected to the effect of the PjBL model in elementary school education. The literature study was carried out on national journal articles indexed by SINTA which were accessed through google scholar with a publication time span of the last 4 years. The results obtained stated that the PjBL model was effective for teaching in elementary schools where the PjBL model was declared effective in stimulating critical thinking skills in students and increasing learning motivation, besides that it was also useful for increasing learning interest and learning result of elementary school students.

Abstract

This research is a qualitative study employing a literature review approach to address the lack of teachers' understanding of available learning models, particularly the STAD (Student Teams Achievement Divisions) cooperative learning model in elementary science education. The study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the STAD cooperative learning model in improving learning outcomes, critical thinking skills, and student motivation. The research method involves a literature review of ten journal articles discussing the application of the STAD cooperative learning model in elementary science education. The findings indicate that the STAD cooperative learning model has a positive impact, especially in higher grade levels. Overall, implementing the STAD cooperative learning model in elementary science education offers several benefits, including improving learning outcomes (70%), enhancing critical thinking skills (20%), and increasing learning motivation (10%).

Abstract

Many science learning activities require students to think critically, actively, and creatively. To enhance the significance of learning, educators must strive to craft engaging learning experiences for students. In the classroom teaching process, teachers not only have to use methods and strategies in delivering material but also master various learning models. Teachers often use the classical model in the learning process. Therefore, teachers need to change the learning model so that the teaching and learning process becomes more effective and meaningful. We have carried out various initiatives to improve learning outcomes and the effectiveness of science learning. One of these initiatives involves the implementation of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) learning model. The cooperative learning model aims to increase cooperation in groups and interaction between students. Therefore, research needs to conduct a more in-depth analysis to determine the extent to which cooperative learning can enhance learning outcomes and how the learning process occurs in elementary schools. This research employs qualitative methods, incorporating data collection techniques from a literature study. Overall, we highly recommend applying the CTL learning model in science subjects in elementary schools to enhance student learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of Canva PowerPoint-based quiz media in improving reading and listening skills of first semester students of the English Education Study Program at PGRI Silampari University. The quiz media uploaded through a blog was designed to combine visual and interactive elements to create a more engaging learning experience. The results showed that 80% of students felt the method was effective in improving their reading skills, while 60% reported improved listening skills. In addition, the majority of students stated that the quiz media helped them understand weaknesses, increase motivation to learn, and build confidence. This study concludes that Canva PowerPoint-based quiz media is effective and can be a useful interactive learning strategy. Further research is needed to test the effectiveness of this media on other language skills and on a wider scale.

Abstract

The implementation of this research aims to improve students' knowledge and learning outcomes after the introduction of the contextual teaching and learning (CTL) learning model to the learning process. The purpose of learning using this model is to improve student learning achievement in 2024/2025. The author seeks to find out what learning outcomes students achieve through contextual teaching and learning (CTL) from previous learning. Based on our experience, students' interest in learning is low because teachers only use lecture and question-and-answer methods during learning. Teachers fail to carry out teaching and learning activities optimally. The primary issue is that teachers' learning processes do not fully contribute to enhancing students' academic achievement. In this case, the author tries to apply contextual teaching and learning (CTL) to the learning process in the classroom. In other words, implementing the contextual teaching and learning (CTL) model in the learning process is a crucial step towards enhancing student learning outcomes.

Abstract

Abstract: This study explores the experiences and attitudes of English Education students at Universitas PGRI Silampari (UNPARI) toward Duolingo, a mobile-assisted language learning (MALL) application, in developing English vocabulary. Using a qualitative descriptive design, six participants who had consistently used Duolingo for at least three months were selected through purposive sampling. Data were gathered through semi-structured interviews and analyzed thematically based on the framework proposed by Sundler et al. (2021). The analysis revealed four major themes: motivation through gamification, flexibility and accessibility, challenges of maintaining consistency, and the contextual relevance of vocabulary content. While Duolingo enhanced learner motivation and enabled flexible, autonomous learning, participants also reported limitations such as lack of sustained consistency and the mismatch between vocabulary content and their academic context. The findings suggest that Duolingo can serve as an effective supplementary tool for vocabulary development, particularly in regional university settings, when pedagogically integrated with formal instruction and localized learning support.

Abstract

This analysis focuses on Miguel, the protagonist of the film Coco (2017), and his development throughout the narrative. Utilizing Sigmund Freud's framework of the psyche—which includes the id (instincts), ego (self-control), and superego (ethical constraints) this research elucidates Miguel’s internal struggles. Initially, Miguel’s family prohibits music due to a distressing history. This familial decree, primarily upheld by his grandmother, symbolizes the superego. Conversely, Miguel possesses an intense passion for music, representing his id, or intrinsic yearning. As he ventures out to pursue his aspirations, he begins to clarify his values and priorities. In the Land of the Dead, Miguel discovers how to reconcile his passion for music with his affection for his family, illustrating the emergence of the ego guiding his choices. Through significant symbols like the guitar and family photograph, the film depicts Miguel mending familial scars and uncovering his authentic identity. This research demonstrates that Coco transcends mere musical themes; it is an impactful narrative about kinship, personal identity, and the pursuit of one’s desires. The findings indicate that Miguel’s internal journey reflects Freud’s structural theory of personality, illustrating how animated films can portray complex psychological development. This contributes to a deeper understanding of identity formation in family-centered narratives within popular media.

Abstract

This research looks at how friendship groups (peer circles) affect the English-speaking skills of sixth-semester students in the English Education Program at PGRI Silampari University. Generation Z students, who often use social media like TikTok and WhatsApp, are used to talking and sharing through digital platforms. The study used a simple survey of 21 students to determine how often and how well they speak English with their friends. The results show that many students feel more comfortable speaking English with their close friends. Friends also help motivate and provide feedback to improve speaking skills. Some students reported confidence in their pronunciation and vocabulary, but many still feel unsure when speaking in public. This shows peer circles are helpful, but students still need more practice. Teachers can support students by giving more group speaking activities and using peer support to help them feel more confident and improve their English skills.
