Abstract

This study was aimed at designing software that can calculate the nutritional needs of the community. The device is generated from an application program that is specifi cally designed to determine lean body mass, nutritional status and nutritional value needs. It is guided by the science of nutrition and health in an effi cient, inexpensive and accurate ways. This study used design software method. The fi rst stage of the analysis, which consists of user needs analysis, job analysis, and technology analysis. The second stage is a block diagram including interface design and fl owchart design. The third stage, design modules translation was done using a programming language into the application form called coding/ implementation. The fourth stage was testing the system using black box testing. The application design includes the creation of database structure, program fl ow design and user interface. The design of the database was realized in 9 tables. The fl ow program was depicted in Entity Relationship Diagram, Data Flowchart and Applications Flowchart. The interface design consisted of 17 display interface/ application form.

Abstract

This study was aimed at separating copper(II)ions contained in the pool water by coloumn adsorption method. The coloumn was fi lled up with natural zeolite taken from Gunungkidul. The infl uence of zeolite size in particular contact time toward the effectiveness of the zeolite to adsorb metal ions of copper (II) ions were studied in this research. The effectiveness of zeolite adsorption was based on the effi ciency value which is the ratio between the concentration of metal ions of copper (II) adsorbed by the metal ion concentration of copper (II) prior to adsorption. Copper metal ion concentrations were determined using Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS). The results show that the ability of the column adsorption system in the separation of metal ions of copper (II) was quite high. Column with zeolite 1 (size 10 mesh) can lower copper consentration up to 37.1698%, while the zeolite column 2 (size 5 mesh) can lower the consentration up to 35.9976%. These results indicate that the copper ions in the pool water can be separated quite well.

Abstract

Wire and Tube heat exchanger consists of coiled tube and wire sticked on the two sides of it in normal direction of the tube. The ability of this heat exchanger to dissipate heat is shown by the overall surface effi ciency from array of fi ns or called as heat exchanger effi ciency. The wire which functions as a fi n is the expansion of the outer surface of tube, so that it expands the surface of free convection heat transfer and transfers heat from the heat exchanger to the outside surroundings. The fi n effi ciency commonly depends on its material, geometry and environment where it is used. In this research, the infl uence of the wire pitch to the heat exchanger was examinated. Tthree designs of the heat exchanger with different wire pitch namely (pw/Lw = 0.015; pw/Lw = 0.029 dan pw/Lw = 0.044) were tested into fi ve levels of entrance fl uids temperature (40, 50, 60, 70, and 80 0 C). The fi nding of this study was that the heat exchanger pw/Lw = 0.029 evenly produced the highest effi ciency.

Abstract

This study aims to determine: (1) the vulnerability of cold lava fl ood disaster along the banks of the River Yogyakarta City Code, and (2) the direction of fl ood disaster management cold lava along the banks of the River Code of Yogyakarta. Research carried out along the banks of the River Code that was in the city of Yogyakarta from May to October 2013. The study population is along the banks of the Code River in the area of the city of Yogyakarta. Samples were along the river bank area code affected and not affected by cold lava fl ood. Data collected by the method of documentation, interviews, and fi eld checks. The data analysis technique is quantitative analysis with tumpangsusun/ overlay parameters tiered fl ood weighted using GIS. The results showed that: (1) The area on the banks of the River Code that have medium levels of vulnerability is fl ooding the medium category and Gowongan Cokrodiningratan region, while the region with the vulnerability of fl ood prone category is Sosromenduran region, Suryatmajan, Prawirodirjan, Keparakan, Brontokusuman, and Sorosutan, (2) Referral to the revitalization plan for fl ood prevention Code River settlements to be more effective and safer from disasters, namely through the revitalization of the vertical and horizontal.

Abstract

This study was aimed at synthesizing cinnamyl benzoate through esterifi cation reaction between benzoyl chloride and cinnamyl alcohol reduces from cinnamaldehyde. This study was started by reducing cinnamaldehyde to cinnamyl alcohol using NaBH4 reductor at room temperature. The reduction product of cinnamaldehyde was reacted using benzoyl chloride through esterifi cation reaction using pyridine at room temperature for 4 hours. The product of cinnamaldehyde reduction and esterifi cation reaction were characterized using TLC, IR spectrometer, and GCMS spectrometer. The results show that the reduction of cinnamladehyde produced yellow liquor that contain cinnamyl alcohol contained 81.31% and 63.94% randemen. While the result of esterifi cation reaction between benzoyl chloride and cinnamyl alcohol produced brown liquor that contained cinnamyl benzoate contained 12.44% and 5.78% randemen.

Abstract

This study was aimed at determining the optimal conditions of the trypsine enzyme and the effect of metal ion Ag + (in the form of AgNO 3 ), metal ion Cu  (in the form of CuCl 2 ), K +  metal ions (in the form of KHPO 4 ), and ion Metal Zn  (in the form of ZnSO ) in various concentrations towards trypsin enzyme activity using casein substrate. The activity of trypsin enzyme was determined by Anson method in optimum conditions. The data were analyzed using qualitative descriptive. The results show that the activity of trypsin enzyme with substrate casein 10mg/mL in pH 8.37°C, incubation time of 20 minutes with the additional of ion (Ag 4 , Zn 2+ , K  2+ +, Cu2+) at various concentrations. Based on the research results, it was empirically proven that they were tendency of Ag + + dan Cu 2+to act as inhibitors and metal ions Zn 2+ and K + 2+  to act as activators to trypsine enzyme activity at casein substrat.

Abstract

The aim of this studi is to examine the antibacterial activity of aloe vera leaf infuse (Aloe barbadensis Miller) against human pathogens such as Pseudomonas aeroginosa, Salmonella typhi, Staphylococcus aureus, dan Streptococcus pneumonia. Antibacterial activity test of 20, 40, and 60% aloe vera leaf infuse was using agar well diffusion method. The antibacterial activity is indicated by the formation of a clear zone around the wells. All the concentration of aloe vera leaf infuse (Aloe barbadensis Miller) showed signifi cant antibacterial activity against Pseudomonas aeroginosa, Salmonella typhi, Staphylococcus aureus, but did not show antibacterial activity against Streptococcus pneumonia. Aloe vera leaves infuse at a concentration of 60% can inhibit the growth of Pseudomonas aeroginosa indicated by the formation of a clear zone (16.5 mm), the bacteria Salmonella typhi (34 mm), and Staphylococcus aureus (15 mm). The research recommended aloe vera leaf would be suitable for use as antibacterial agent of disease caused by Pseudomonas aeroginosa, Salmonella typhi, and Staphylococcus aureus.
