Abstract

Mpon-mpon is made from various types of plants or spices such as ginger, curcuma, turmeric, lemongrass, and cinnamon, which have long been used to strengthen the immune system and increase stamina, preventing fatigue and illness. Three formulas were created with varying proportions of glycerin and gelatin: Formula I (10%:90%), Formula II (20%:80%), and Formula III (30%:70%). The resulting chewable lozenges were tested for physical properties, including weight uniformity, dissolution time, water content, and taste response using a questionnaire by respondents. All formulas met the requirements from all test results, and in the taste response test, respondents chose Formula II. Based on research conducted by Harun et al. (2020), ginger exhibits immunomodulatory activity for in vitro and in vivo evaluations. Lemongrass contains flavonoids, essential oils, and phenolic compounds that have antioxidant activity that can improve health according to research by Oledeji (2019). According to Cundeel and Wilkinson (2014), curcumin found in turmeric and Javanese ginger exhibits inhibitory activity against NF-κB and the cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) enzyme. According to Qadir et al. (2018), cinnamon ethanol extract has an inhibitory effect on NFATc3 (p < 0.05), TNF-Alpha (p < 0.05), CAII (p < 0.05), and mCalpain (p < 0.05), all of which are proteins involved in RA. Abstract

High UV index levels in Jakarta increase the risk of adverse effects on the skin of active teenagers in the school environment, making sunscreen protection essential. Consequently, research into the relationship between knowledge levels and compliance with sunscreen use among secondary school students is important. This study aims to analyse the relationship between knowledge levels and compliance with sunscreen use among high school students to prevent the adverse effects of UV radiation. This comparative non-experimental study employed a cross-sectional design with total sampling among 242 from 87 Senior High School Jakarta and Al-Azhar Islamic School 1 Jakarta. The relationship between the independent variable (knowledge) and the dependent variable (compliance) was analysed using the Chi-Square test. All statistical data processing was carried out using SPSS. This study results that respondents’ knowledge levels were categorised as good (41.7%), adequate (35.2%) and poor (23.1%), whilst compliance levels were dominated by the adequate category (44.7%), followed by poor (32.2%) and good (23.1%). In general, respondents have good knowledge but demonstrate only moderate compliance with sunscreen use. The Chi-Square test yielded a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant association between knowledge levels and compliance with sunscreen use. The Spearman correlation test also demonstrated a strong correlation between knowledge and compliance, with a correlation coefficient of 0.710. This finding confirms that sunscreen knowledge has a positive, strong, and unidirectional relationship with compliance behavior.

Abstract

Cosmetics are materials used on the outside of the body which function to clean, increase attractiveness, change appearance, protect the body and care for the body. Period After Opening (PAO) is the time limit for using skincare that has been opened from the packaging to find out that the skincare is still stable and safe to use. If someone already has a good understanding of information, they will apply it in everyday life. Having good knowledge will be able to take preventive measures well according to the knowledge they have. This research aims to find a relationship related to the Period After Opening (PAO) and skincare storage behavior among UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta students. This research is a quantitative analytical observational study with a cross-sectional or cross-sectional design, the data used is primary data obtained from questionnaire data collection. The sampling technique used random sampling and based on the Slovin formula, a sample of 727 respondents was obtained. The analysis of the relationship between knowledge and skincare storage behavior using the chi-square test obtained a p-value of 0.001, indicating a significant relationship between knowledge and skincare storage behavior. These results indicate that knowledge plays a significant role in shaping individual behavior in maintaining the quality and safety of skincare products. These findings also indicate that although skincare use is quite high among students, there is still a gap in understanding regarding the product's shelf life after opening and proper storage methods.

Abstract

Cassia auriculata is a medicinal plant recognized for its rich phytochemical composition and potential antidiabetic properties. However, the reliability of virtual screening is often influenced by the choice of docking algorithm and scoring function, leading to variations in compound prioritization. This study aimed to identify potential dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitors from C. auriculata phytochemicals using a consensus molecular docking strategy integrating GNINA and PLANTS. A total of 96 phytochemicals were docked against the DPP-4 crystal structure (PDB ID: 5Y7H), followed by Min–Max normalization of docking scores, consensus score calculation, Pearson and Spearman correlation analyses, and Venn analysis. GNINA and PLANTS produced significantly correlated normalized docking scores (Pearson r = 0.5829, p < 0.001; Spearman ρ = 0.5684, p < 0.001), indicating a moderate level of agreement despite their distinct scoring functions and search algorithms. Venn analysis identified 13 consensus compounds among the top-ranked candidates, while consensus scoring further prioritized Gambiriin A3, Asparanin B, Hordatine A, Albanol A, Isoorientin 7-glucoside, Epicatechin gallate, Campesteryl p-coumarate, Catechin, Orcein, and Auriculine, with Gambiriin A3 achieving the highest consensus score. Structural comparison revealed that the highest-ranked compounds predominantly possessed polyphenolic scaffolds characterized by multiple hydroxyl groups and aromatic ring systems, features commonly associated with favorable ligand–protein recognition. The integration of GNINA and PLANTS through score normalization and consensus ranking provides a systematic and reliable strategy for prioritizing potential natural DPP-4 inhibitors and identifies several promising phytochemicals from Cassia auriculata for subsequent experimental validation.

Abstract

The combination of Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme Inhibitors (ACEi) or Angiotensin Receptor Blockers (ARB) and diuretics with Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs) can result in a drug interaction known as the "Triple Whammy". Concomitant use of these three drug classes is a leading cause of preventable iatrogenic Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) in outpatient populations. This narrative review aims to comprehensively outline the hemodynamic pathophysiology of "Triple Whammy" nephrotoxicity, analyze risk factors associated with AKI, and formulate pharmacist intervention management that applicable in primary healthcare settings. Literature review indicates that diuretics induce intravascular volume depletion, ACEi/ARBs abolish the compensatory vasoconstrictive response in efferent arterioles, and NSAIDs inhibit the synthesis of vasodilatory prostaglandins in afferent arterioles. This interaction leads to a failure of renal autoregulation and a drastic reduction in glomerular hydrostatic pressure. Drug combinations, duration of exposure, route of administration, cardiovascular comorbidities, and age are key risk factors for AKI. Preventing AKI requires pharmacist intervention through screening processes, the use of alternative medications, and reinforcement with Continuing Medical Education (CME)
