Abstract

The most Indonesian written manuscripts were written in the Netherlands language. These manuscripts could be accessed by one of the following catalogs: Juynboll Catalogue (1899), Ronkel Catalogues (1909), Riclefs and P. Voorhoeve Catalogue (1977) etc. Unfortunately, the Indonesian researchers have no way to utilize them. According to the international catalogs written in Indonesian and foreign languages, The Malay manuscripts found in Banda Aceh reached about 300 titles. After conducting preliminary research and direct observation to the individual and institutional collectors, it was found that the real numbers of them could reach to a thousand titles of manuscripts that still have separated in various local places. On behalf these facts, the research aims to rescue these manuscripts from a disappearing and extinction by conducting inventory that is predicted to be able to push the Indonesian researchers ahead to discovering their substantial contents that in opinion useful for human life. The output of the research is compiling catalog documents of 1000 titles of Malay manuscripts found in Banda Aceh. The theory and method used in this research are the theory of the codicology and the method of the catalog of manuscripts register. The codicology is subfield studying all of the manuscript’s aspects in details such as the place of storing, the owner of the manuscript, the content of the manuscript, etc. Whereas the catalog of a manuscript register is describing all of systematically manuscript’s physical and objective aspect in details. The results of the research will be proposed to be the main gate for entering later philology works i.e. presenting and interpreting the text that in turn can be positioned as a manual directive in social and national life.

Abstract

Error in the language occurs due to speakers or learners already have rules of grammar  different from other grammars being studied. An impact arises on the imperfection or inability of speakers implying the use of the language. This article will reveal the errors that arise as a result of the lack of dominance of the rules of the language being studied. The goal is to find out on what level the error occurred. This research data is taken from the final examination of the subjects of Arabic Text Review Semester I and Semester III students of Arabic. Further data is analyzed by utilizing existing Arabic structure concept or theory. The result is that these learners' language errors occur both on the lexicon, Arabic phrase and as well in Arabic clauses. From the results of this study can be argued that to avoid language errors, grammatical mastery or grammar of a second language requires a lot of practice, both written and oral.

Abstract

This study aims to describe translation techniques and methods used in the translation of Syi‘ru Machallil Qiyām. This research is based on conceptual theories about translation techniques from Molina and Albir and Newmark's theory of translation method. This study is under the research paradigm of descriptive-qualitative. The data were collected by using non-interactive method is, using document recording technique. The data analysis applied the Miles and Huberman’s model (1994) which consists of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion and verification. The data source was the book of Al-Barzanji authored by Sayyid Ja'far Al-Barzanji which was translated by Yasin (2001). The results showed that there were 10 translation techniques used in the translation of Syi‘ru Machallil Qiyām including the technique of adaptation found 2 data (2.7%), description 4 data (5.5%), generalization of 3 data (4.1%), particularization of 1 data (1.4%), calque found 10 data (13.7% ), literal 12 data (16.4%), borrowings 4 data (5.5%), reduction of 2 data (2.7%), addition of 13 data (17.8%), and shifting of 22 data (30.2% ). The most widely used technique was the shifting technique found as many as 22 data. This was occured primarily due to the underlying difference between the Source Language (SL) and TL structures, therefore, to achieve the language correspondence and acceptability, the translator has focused on using more shifting techniques. The translation method used was oriented at the Target Language (TL) of 49 data (67,1%).

The analysis of data is occurred by distributional methode in which bases its performance on analysing each linguistic particular related to other units. The results state that VNP has distinctive form: the first term mudhāf is a verbal noun which has neither the definite article nor nunation, and second term is definite or indefinite noun with no prepositional insertion. In order to syntac relation built by VNP the second term is the agent or doer of the action conveid by verbal noun, or the object of an action.
