Abstract

This study aims to improve Science learning outcomes on the subject of the human circulatory system at students in problem based learning model at SMPN 12 BINTAN. After applied the model, it showed an increase in the learning outcomes. This is indicated by the average percentage of student activity in the first cycle is 36.54%, while in the second cycle it is 63.34% and the third cycle is 66.6%. It is recommended for teachers to use problem based learning learning model in teaching Science to other subjects as an alternative way to increase student interest and learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to increase the learning outcomes of class IX science at SMP Negeri 5 Kotawaringin lama. This study uses a Problem Based Learning model. Data collection techniques were carried out with tests and non-tests, with data collection tools in the form of student activity observation sheets, teacher activity observation sheets, and final test sheets for each cycle. The procedures for implementing this research include: (1) planning, (2) implementing actions, (3) observing, and (4) reflecting in each cycle. The Student Activity Observation Sheet technique showed that there was an increase in student learning outcomes from cycle I to cycle II and from cycle II to cycle III. The percentage of learning completeness in Cycle I was 68,75 %, Cycle II was 75.00 % and Cycle III was 93.75 %. The average learning outcomes in the first cycle is 72.43, the second cycle is 74.75 and the third cycle is 78.31. The results of the research above prove that the Problem Based Learning learning model can increase the learning outcomes of science class IX SMP Negeri 5 Kotawaringin lama.

Abstract

This Classroom Action Research aimed to improve student learning outcomes in the eighth grade at SMP Negeri 1 Kutasari on the Excretory System topic through the implementation of a Problem-Based Learning model using plasticine and video media. The subjects of this study were 15 eighth-grade students in class 8B. The research was conducted in three cycles. Student learning outcomes data were collected through Google Forms-based assessments. The collected data were then analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis. The average learning outcomes score in Cycle I was 42.67. In Cycle I, plasticine was used to reconstruct a nephron model. In Cycle II, the average score increased to 67.31, indicating an improvement in learning outcomes compared to Cycle I. Further improvement occurred in Cycle III, with the average learning outcome score reaching 91.67. Classical completeness (percentage of students achieving a minimum passing score of 70) in Cycle I was 20%, in Cycle II it was 46.67%, and in Cycle III it reached 100%. The research findings indicate that the PBL model can improve science learning outcomes for eighth-grade students at SMPN 1 Kutasari.

Abstract

The implementation of the research by applying the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model is an effort to improve student learning outcomes. Learning by applying the lecture method that has been used so far causes problems where students are less active during the learning process. Research activities were carried out at SMP Negeri 1 Dayeuhluhur starting from July 31, 2021 until July 13, 2021. Activities carried out during the Research such as preparing the Learning Implementation Plan (RPP), compiling teaching materials, compiling media, compiling student worksheets, compiling questions and assessment instruments. The research conducted consisted of 2 cycles. Cycle I as many as 5 students achieved minimum completeness or 27% of the 18 students who attended. Cycle II as many as 9 students achieved minimum completeness or 50% of the 18 students who attended. So it can be concluded that the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model can improve student learning outcomes of SMP Negeri 1 Dayeuhluhur.
