This research aimed to examine the influence of company size, profitability, and leverage on profit management in manufacturing companies in the food and beverage subsector listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) during the 2020-2024 period. The research used a quantitative approach with a descriptive type of research. The research population was 95 companies, with a sample of 39 companies selected using the purposive sampling method. The dependent variable was profit management which was measured using the De Angelo (Non-Discretionary Accruals/NDA) model. Meanwhile, independent variables included company size (SIZE) measured using the natural logarithm of total assets, profitability using Return on Assets (ROA), and leverage using Debt to Asset Ratio (DAR). The data analysis technique used multiple linear regression and classical assumption tests. The results showed that company size, profitability, and leverage partially had no significant effect on profit management. It showed that these three variables were not the dominant factors influencing profit management practices in the food and beverage subsector during the research period.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of ownership structure and corporate governance on the performance of banking companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) from 2017 to 2024. Ownership structure is measured through managerial ownership and foreign ownership, while corporate governance is assessed using the proportion of independent board members and the presence of an audit committee. Company performance is measured using Return on Assets (ROA) as a proxy for profitability. This study employs a quantitative approach using multiple linear regression analysis. The sample consists of 30 banking companies selected through purposive sampling. The results show that, partially, managerial ownership and the audit committee have a significant effect on company performance, whereas foreign ownership and the independent board of commissioners do not show a significant effect. However, simultaneously, all four independent variables significantly influence company performance. These findings suggest that ownership structure and corporate governance mechanisms collectively impact the effectiveness of banking management in Indonesia. This study provides insights for company management, investors, and regulators to enhance governance and ownership practices in order to improve company performance.

Abstract

Stable profit growth reflects a bank’s operational efficiency and resilience in responding to market dynamics. Increasing profits provide opportunities for reinvestment, innovation, and business expansion, thereby strengthening long-term competitiveness. This study employed purposive sampling with a sample of four state-owned banks (BUMN) and data processing was conducted using EViews 12 software. The best-fit model identified was the Fixed Effect Model (FEM). The results indicate that NPL, ROE, and CAR have a significant simultaneous effect on profit growth. Partially, ROE and CAR have a significant influence, while NPL does not. The R-squared value of 90.32% shows that these independent variables explain a substantial portion of the variation in profit growth. Steady profit growth reflects the bank's operational efficiency and resilience in the face of market dynamics. Increased profit growth provides opportunities for banks to reinvest, innovate, and expand their businesses, thereby strengthening long-term competitiveness. This study uses a purposive sampling method with a sample of 4 state-owned banks (Mandiri, BRI, BNI, BTN) and data processing using EViews 12 software. The best model obtained is the Fixed Effect Model (FEM). The results of the study show that NPL, ROE, and CAR simultaneously have a significant effect on profit growth. Partially, ROE and CAR have a significant effect, while NPLs do not. The R-squared value of 90.32% indicates that the three independent variables explain most of the variation in profit growth.
