Abstract

This paper presents a case study of an oil field that requires further development to optimize the oil recovery factor on limited land area. The oil field location overlaps with coal concessions. This study aims to define a further development scenario to optimize the oil recovery factor and at the same time allow the coal to be mined optimally. Based on the mining operations plan and the geological of overlapping area, the directional development wells for production and injection will be placed in a cluster on the anticline area within radius of 500 meters, in which the active wells are situated. Reservoir simulation method is applied to evaluate various further development scenarios. Reservoir model used is validated by the material balance method and history matching process. The optimal oil recovery factor resulted by using the existing five production wells, the existing injection well, four additional productions and one additional injection wells. The additional wells are designed as directional wells. The obtained oil recovery factor is 23.7%, increased 6.7% compared to the recovery factor at the end of history matching. Approach developed in this case study is expected to be a model in optimizing of oil and gas recoveries within an overlapping working area.

Abstract

Enhanced oil recovery (EOR) should be done on mature oil fields with high remaining oil. Chemical injection, especially surfactantas a part of EOR application had proven able to increase oil recovery from mature oil fields. Nowadays, surfactants based on palm oil begin to be developed. Besides it can produce low interfacial tension as required as chemical EOR, the availability of oil palm whose abundant and palm oil as a renewable raw material are also the reasons why the research of synthesis surfactants based on palm oil to the application of eor was done. Several surfactants based on palm oil was synthesized, namely MES, BES and PDS.There are three varians of PDS surfactants, PDSH1, PDSH2 and PDSH3. Parameter screening tests such as compatibility test, interfacial tension, filtration test, and thermal stability test have been done before applied in intermediete oil field. From these surfactants obtained best formula 1% PDSH3 surfactant what fulfill criteria parameter screening tests. FTIR characterizations and thermal gravimetric analysis conducted to determine functional group of sulfonate and measuremass change in materials associated with transition and thermal degradation. Coreflooding test performed to determine increasing oil recovery.

East Jabung work area is one of the working areas located in South Sumatra Basin. Abstract

Limitation of the water content in the fuel gas in Indonesia very often can not be met due to the limited facilities owned in SPBGs. Design and build a gas drier has a market share in the country. This equipment is able to reduce the water content in the natural gas used Fuel Filling Station Gas (SPBGs) and industries. Initial experiments conducted tests on some types of adsorbents to determine the percent weight increase and manufacture of activated carbon pellets made using bentonite as a buffer with a variation of 20, 40 and 60% bentonite. Material mixed with KOH and then soaked at room temperature. The heated material is then formed pellets then reheated to a high temperature before calcined. After that characterization to determine the nature and character of adsorbent pellets. The test results showed that activated carbon can still absorb water until the end of the test, which reached 50% by weight of activated carbon. it is known that activated carbon absorbs the water and reduce the water content in the gas of 35 lb / MMscf to be a minimum of about 5-6 lb / MMscf.

Abstract

The competence of a laboratory is supported by its quality assurance which is affected, the results of interlaboratory comparisons or profi ciency testing. The objective of this study to determine the factors that affect the precision and accuracy of test result data in the framework of laboratory quality assurance. This study was carried out using the case of lubricants profi ciency testing namely Asia Pacific Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation Proficiency Testing Programme organized by the National Accreditation Committee in cooperation with PPPTMGB “LEMIGAS” in 2014, profi ciency testing parameters include Kinematic Viscosity at 40°C and 100°C, Viscosity at Low Temperature (CCS Method), Total Base Number (TBN), and Evaporation Loss (Noack Method). The evaluation of the results indicate that the test results which are not satisfactory for the viscosity parameter at 40°C and 100°C are 19.51% and 10.26% respectively, TBN is 8.00%, CCS is 5.56%, whereas for evaporation loss (Noack Method), all the results are satisfactory. Whereas the lowest %RSD is kinematic viscosity at 40°C0.5516 and the highest is evaporation loss (Noack Method) 7.048. The data with lower %RSD have better precision and accuracy level, as a result the aggregate of the data are very sensitive to the value disparity. More over these data are much easier to enter the outlier category. The factors that affect the precision and accuracy data include selection test method, personnel competency, callibration or verifi cation of the equipment, and using appropriate chemical reagent. The precision and accuracy of the data indicating that the laboratory competency level are accessible, if the effectiveness and consistency of quality manajemen system have already implemented.
