Abstract

Energy consumption in educational buildings has become an important issue in efforts to improve energy efficiency and support sustainability. The building sector accounts for more than 30% of global energy consumption, with lighting and air-conditioning systems being among the major contributors. This study proposes an Internet of Things (IoT)-based Smart Classroom system integrated with fuzzy logic to improve energy efficiency. The system utilizes PIR/mmWave sensors to detect human presence, a BH1750 sensor to measure light intensity, and a DHT22 sensor to measure temperature and humidity. An ESP32 microcontroller is used to process sensor data and communicate with the ThingsBoard platform to support real-time monitoring and control of the devices. Fuzzy logic is implemented as an adaptive decision-making mechanism to control the lighting system and an air purifier as a prototype of a cooling device based on environmental conditions and human presence. The experimental results show that the developed system is capable of automatically controlling the lighting system and the prototype cooling device according to environmental conditions and human presence. Based on the estimated energy consumption, the lighting system reduced its energy consumption from 0.14 kWh/day to 0.043351 kWh/day, resulting in an estimated energy efficiency of 69.04%. Meanwhile, the energy consumption of the air purifier decreased from 0.28 kWh/day to 0.16 kWh/day, resulting in an estimated energy efficiency of 42.86%. Overall, the energy consumption of both devices decreased from 0.42 kWh/day to 0.203351 kWh/day, resulting in an estimated total energy efficiency of 51.58%. These results indicate that the implementation of IoT and fuzzy logic has the potential to improve energy efficiency in classrooms through adaptive device control based on environmental conditions and human presence.

Abstract

Background. Islamic Religious Education (PAI) plays a vital role in developing students’ moral character, discipline, mental strength, and resilience. However, the application of PAI values as part of the process of fostering athletic achievement particularly for student pencak silat athletes has not yet been fully realized. Purpose. This study aims to examine the implementation of Islamic Education (PAI) in pencak silat training activities, identify various conditions that serve as supporting factors or obstacles to its implementation, and understand the contribution of Islamic values to the development of achievement motivation among student athletes at the Yatuna Jakarta Pencak Silat Martial Arts Club. Method. The approach used was a qualitative descriptive study with a case study design. The sources of information for the study consisted of club officials, coaches, student athletes, and parents, who were selected based on purposive sampling. Data collection was conducted through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and a review of documentation, while the validity of the information was reinforced through a process of triangulation. Results. Research findings show that Islamic Education (PAI) values have become an integral part of the training culture through the practice of praying before and after training, performing the daily prayers, reciting and reviewing the Qur’an, periodically completing a full recitation of the Qur’an, providing religious guidance, and fostering an attitude of respect and proper conduct toward coaches, parents, seniors, and fellow athletes. Conclusion. Athletes are not merely guided to achieve victory or win medals; they are also encouraged to view their achievements as an expression of responsibility, gratitude, and devotion; as a means of developing their potential; and as a way to bring honor to their families and institutions.

Abstract

Background. The rapid expansion of hybrid learning has intensified K–12 students’ reliance on digital technologies, creating growing concerns regarding technostress, digital fatigue, academic engagement, and school-related well-being across diverse cultural and educational contexts. Purpose. This study aimed to examine how digital learning demands contribute to technostress and digital fatigue among K–12 students, investigate their academic and psychological consequences, identify potential protective factors, and determine whether these relationships vary across cultural settings. Method. A cross-cultural quantitative design was employed involving K–12 students participating in hybrid learning environments. Survey data were analyzed using measurement-invariance testing, multilevel analysis, and structural equation modeling to examine relationships among digital learning demands, technostress, digital fatigue, academic engagement, school-related well-being, and protective factors at individual and contextual levels. Results. The findings showed that technology overload, platform complexity, task fragmentation, connectivity problems, and expectations of continuous availability significantly predicted higher levels of technostress. Increased technostress subsequently intensified digital fatigue and was associated with lower academic engagement and poorer school-related well-being. Digital self-efficacy, teacher support, and adequate recovery opportunities buffered several adverse relationships. Conclusion. The findings demonstrate that the digital toll of hybrid learning is shaped more strongly by the intensity and organization of digital demands than by screen duration alone. Sustainable hybrid education therefore requires manageable digital workloads, coherent platform ecosystems, responsive teacher support, equitable technological conditions, and meaningful opportunities for recovery.
