Abstract

This essay was aimed at describing the development of civic knowledge, civic skill and civic disposition on textbooks for junior high school namely "Belajar Memahami Kewarganegaraan 1, 2 and 3". Based on content analysis, it can be conducted that civic education element was developed through teaching material presented accompanied by features, such as additional boxes, every chapter including pictures, law corner, info, public figures, and citizenship dictionary. In addition to presentation of civic skill related teaching material, box of "uji kompetensi" was utilize to enhance civic skill competences. Civic disposition was enhanced by inserting national values as well as up-held-values but conceptually.

Abstract

This study was aimed at: 1) producing an appropriate learning multimedia for agrarian laws in terms of the material and presentation aspects student responses, and 2) investigate the effectiveness of the developed multimedia to develop student learning outcomes. This was a research and development study. The results of the study were as follows. 1) Regarding the developed learning multimedia product: a) it had good quality in terms of the material aspect with a mean score of 4.10; b) it had good quality in terms of the presentation aspect with a mean score of 4.07; and c) the students' responses to the media attractiveness showed that the multimedia was attractive with a mean score of 3.82. 2) The effectiveness of the use of the developed learning multimedia to improve learning outcomes was indicated by the fact that: a) there was a score improvement (30.16%) from a mean score of 51.50 in the pre-test to 73.75 in the post-test; and b) there was an improvement in mastery by 60% among 20 students, from five students (25%) attaining mastery in the pretest to 17 students (85%) attaining mastery in the posttest. Therefore, the multimedia for Agrarian Laws learning is appropriate to apply.

Abstract

Indonesia is a multicultural country, multiethnic, multi-religious, and multi other things spreaded in the world. Therefore, it needs a wise, appropriate, and effective ways to respond so that the steps taken are not slipped ways and consequently endanger the sustainability of the nation in the future. Multicultural education is required by Indonesia to reduce the occurrence of horizontal conflicts between communities, because of differences in culture, ethnicity, customs, and religion is the emphasizing on learning to appreciate differences and not be regarded as causes of fragmentation. This can be done through selection of suitable material or nuanced tolerance towards all humans in the frame of together and do not emphasize the difference because of the spirit of ideology or their respective groups. Conceptually many religions and beliefs in the shades of multicultural are expected to bring about harmonious relationship, but in the implementation phase are still a lot of gaps between the expectation and realization due to some exclusive-uninded people still in multicultural society.

Abstract

This study was aimed at exploring the values of local wisdom of the indigenous peoples whose existence is still kept below the brunt of globalization and modernization so strong. This is a case study. Its results indicate: (1) the indigenous peoples perceived that local knowledge is a cultural heritage as a noble value, handed down by ancestors as identity formation and identity that must be maintained and preserved. Characters that are inherited are soft, regular, efficiency, discipline, shared caring, teach each other, sincere, obedient /submissive, visionary (thinking ahead), responsible, dedicated, loyal, sympathy, empathy, compassion, tolerancesense, willing to sacrifice, faith and piety, simple, cherish health, thoughtful, and constructive thinking, which are reflected in the art, proverbs,  and way of life; (2) the inheritance of the character value is done by oral traditions and examples directly transmitted through traditional ceremonies; (3) The persistence reinforcing factor of the values of local wisdom, is the fact that "pamali" (meaning prohobition), is still held firmly by community.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out parent efforts to build young children character, parent behavior to choose daily needs and to develop model of character building by selection of products on young children. This is a survei and mixed method model. The results of this study were (1) Parent skill in choosing Indonesian product are poor 25.1%, fail or medium 53.9%, and good 21% product selectivity. The most committed effort by parent to make their children love Indonesia product. The second place is by introducing Indonesian product to their children by using and wearing Indonesian product. Parent is easier Indonesian product by seeing the brand. Parent find it is difficult to identify Indonesian product in the global era.

Abstract

This research was aimed at answering about globalizing challenges citizen, especially young citizen. Teaching and learning in higher education including Citizenship Education is still conventional emphasizing learning process as the process of inculcating the value of smart and good citizen mainly related to the establishment of global competence of citizens. This study uses qualitative approach to explore the meaninful of practices and sciences of Citizenship Education as character education and global competencies of citizens. Practically, this research was expected to provide for practitioners and scientists of education, especially for Citizenship Education as character development courses in college, especially in the formation of global competencies of young citizens.

Abstract

This essay explores the factors that cause a lack of effective preparation of citizens supporting the democratic political system carried by educational institutions, especially schools. After describing the global context, in particular the tendency (trend) practices of Citizenship Education that has shifted to the sheer mission preparation productive workforce as it promoted the ideology of neoliberal role strategies educational institutions (schools), not in the setting up of citizens supporting democratic values , further description focuses on the development of the humanist school culture, which the authors believe to be an absolute prerequisite for learning effective democracy. Recently described of learning about democracy effectically, next, it describes theorization of by a description of the importance of critical pedagogy and ended by a description of the change of learning democracy into learning democracy democratically.
