Abstract

Online prostitution is a behavior that has the potential to be destructive, where individuals can engage in interpersonal relationships without formal commitment or attachment to a marital relationship. Factors driving online prostitution include limited parental supervision, low education, economic pressure in the family, influence from media and technology, and interactions with peers. The impact of having an unhealthy relationship is the risk to physical and mental health, as well as disruption in social and family relationships. Christian religious education has an important role in dealing with youth who engage in online prostitution. Christian education teaches spiritual values, strong moral and ethical foundations, and can provide views regarding the dignity of humans as God's creation. Education with this model can also provide support to young people to stay away from online prostitution behavior and live a better life according to the teachings of Christianity. This research uses qualitative methods with a literature review approach to find out the role of religious education in preventing young people from engaging in online prostitution. So the aim of this article is to provide an insight into the factors driving young people to engage in online prostitution, its negative impacts and the role of Christian religious education in overcoming this problem.

Abstract

This research explores the relationship between forgiveness as a manifestation of Christ's incarnation and the healing of the wounded soul, a topic often overlooked in theological and pastoral discourse. Employing a qualitative approach combining systematic theology and field-based phenomenology, this paper analyzes the theological foundation of Christ's incarnation as the basis for divine love and solidarity with human suffering. Forgiveness, made possible by Christ's redemptive work, is understood as a restorative act transcending its legalistic aspect, aiming to restore damaged identity, dignity, and relationships. Empirical findings from narratives of individuals experiencing inner wounds consistently demonstrate that forgiveness is a primary catalyst for healing. Cases such as liberation from possession, recovery from physical ailments (acid reflux), and self-forgiveness overcoming insomnia consistently affirm the transformative impact of forgiveness. Conversely, the refusal to forgive proves to be a serious barrier to healing. The discussion integrates these findings, asserting that soul healing is an integral part of Christ's holistic mission, and its pastoral implications highlight the church's urgency in implementing a comprehensive theology of forgiveness. This research contributes to theological and practical discourse, offering a framework for more effective and Christ-centered soul recovery ministries

Abstract

Abstrak Generation Z (Gen Z) is experiencing a significant identity crisis and a "thirst for meaning" resulting from deep immersion in digital pop culture, which often conflicts with Christian values and leads to church disaffiliation. This article aims to interpret Gen Z's need for transcendence and to formulate a practical theological framework called "Progressive Spirituality" as a relevant pastoral response. This research employs a qualitative literature study method with an interdisciplinary approach, synthesizing findings from theology, psychology, cultural studies, and education. The results indicate that Gen Z's "thirst for meaning" is essentially a longing for authentic relationships, which pop culture fails to provide. In response, Progressive Spirituality is proposed as a practice of faith rooted in the holistic mission of Christ, actualized through two main pillars: the development of self-leadership as an antidote to the identity crisis, and the transformation of the church into an incarnational "shared space". The practical implication for the church is the urgency of adopting innovative pastoral strategies, such as shifting to a family-centric ministry model, creatively utilizing technology for outreach, and building authentic, empowering communities.

Abstract

This paper explores the symbols of liberation in Mark 4:35-41 through the lens of liberation theology hermeneutics, with a particular focus on the phrase “let us go across to the other side” as an invitation to cross social, religious, and ideological boundaries. Jesus’ call to journey toward the non- Jewish region (the Decapolis) is interpreted as a gesture of liberation for the oppressed in the midst of Roman imperial dominance and the exclusivist structures of the Jewish community. The narrative of the Calming of the Storm reveals symbols of chaos shaped by oppressive political and structural systems. Reading Mark 4:35-41 through the perspective of liberation theology uncovers the universal scope of the proclamation of God’s Kingdom to the whole world. God is present amid suffering and oppression

Abstract

This study explores the role of Judas Iscariot from a theological perspective, focusing on the dialectic between free will and divine determinism within the narrative of Christ’s redemption. Using a compatibilist approach, the research highlights how Judas’s act of betrayal is both a free moral choice and an integral part of God’s providential plan. The findings reveal that the tension between human freedom and divine sovereignty is a theological mystery to be embraced, with significant ethical and spiritual implications regarding sin, responsibility, and grace. The study concludes that Judas’s role extends beyond being a mere betrayer, serving as a symbol of the existential struggle between evil and salvation in contemporary Christian faith.

Abstract

This study explores the role of adaptive liturgy as a medium for intergenerational connectivity in Christian worship. Generational diversity within congregations often creates gaps in worship experiences, necessitating a liturgical approach capable of embracing all ages. Utilizing a theological and practical study with a qualitative case study approach through observation and literature review at GMIM "Syalom" Lelema, this research finds that adaptive liturgy effectively facilitates intergenerational connectivity. Key findings indicate the practice of reciprocal participation in major church celebrations and worship processions involving all generations, as well as the adaptation of worship music where old songs are rearranged in a contemporary style to attract younger generations without alienating older ones. The analysis of these findings within the theoretical framework strengthens their significance. The liturgical practices at GMIM "Syalom" Lelema align with Communication Accommodation Theory (CAT) in adjusting communication styles, Social and Cultural Adaptation Theory in responding to congregational dynamics, Participatory Ecclesiology Theology which encourages collective involvement, and the Principle of Unity in Diversity, which unifies differences in harmony. It is concluded that adaptive liturgy at GMIM "Syalom" Lelema is a concrete model that successfully bridges generational gaps, forming an inclusive, participatory, and unified church in diversity. This research contributes to the literature on practical theology and liturgy by providing an empirical case study from the Indonesian context, offering practical guidance for other churches.

Abstract

This article explores the theological and pastoral significance of Ephesians 5:25–33 in constructing a Christian paradigm of marriage amid postmodern cultural challenges. Drawing from covenant theology and Christocentric ecclesiology, marriage is reimagined not merely as a social contract but as a sacred covenant reflecting the relationship between Christ and His Church. In an era marked by pluralism, relativism, and shifting family structures, the Church is called to uphold the biblical vision of marriage without falling into rigid dogmatism or cultural assimilation. The study engages contemporary theological voices—such as Vanhoozer, Groothuis, and Vorster—to critique postmodern tendencies that erode commitment, while also affirming creative liturgical expressions and contextual approaches that keep the covenant narrative relevant and transformative. Practical implications include holistic premarital education, trauma-informed pastoral counseling, and a redemptive ethic of mutual submission and sacrificial love. Ultimately, the paper argues for a pastoral and prophetic model that honors both theological fidelity and cultural engagement in presenting Christian marriage as a living testimony of divine love.

Abstract

This article reinterprets the term ezer kenegdo in Genesis 2:18 through Hebrew linguistic analysis, feminist critical reading, and contextual theological reflection. Traditionally, ezer kenegdo has been interpreted in patriarchal frameworks as referring to a subordinate “helper.” However, linguistically, ezer refers to God's powerful and salvific help, while kenegdo implies equality and mutuality. Employing a feminist lens, the article reveals that women in the creation narrative are not portrayed as subordinate but as equal and spiritual partners. More significantly, women are understood as divine mirrors, reflecting God’s attributes in creation and life. The article calls for the deconstruction of patriarchal interpretations and offers a new paradigm for a gender-just, contextual, and liberating Christian theology.
