Abstract

This study was motivated by the low understanding of measurement concepts among 5–6-year-old children at KB Al-Iqro, Sajira District, Lebak Regency. The study aimed to improve children's understanding of measurement concepts through realia media. The research employed Classroom Action Research using the Kemmis and McTaggart model and was conducted in two cycles. The participants were 14 children in Group B. Data were collected through observation, field notes, and documentation and analyzed using qualitative and quantitative procedures based on achievement percentages. The results showed an increase in children's measurement ability from 18.46% at the pre-action stage to 56.77% in Cycle I and 84.66% in Cycle II. The improvement was observed in measuring objects, comparing length, selecting and grouping objects according to size, estimating or comparing weight in simple activities, and comparing water volume. These findings indicate that realia media can provide concrete experiences that help children connect measurement concepts with familiar objects and everyday situations. Therefore, the planned and gradual use of realia media can be an alternative instructional strategy for strengthening measurement concept understanding among 5–6-year-old children

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low prosocial skills of children aged 5–6 years at PAUD Karang Balita Kalanganyar, as reflected in egocentric behavior and difficulties in sharing, cooperating, taking turns, and following rules. The study aimed to improve children's prosocial skills through micro role-play activities, identify improvement in each cycle, and describe the implementation process. The study employed Classroom Action Research using the Kemmis and McTaggart model, consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The research was conducted in two cycles involving 10 children aged 5–6 years. Data were collected through observation using observation sheets and a prosocial skills assessment rubric covering sharing, cooperation, taking turns, and following rules. Data were analyzed descriptively using qualitative and simple quantitative percentage analysis. The results showed that the average prosocial skill score increased from 40% in the pre-cycle to 65% in Cycle I and 81.78% in Cycle II. The Cycle II achievement exceeded the predetermined success indicator of 80%. Therefore, micro role-play activities can improve the prosocial skills of children aged 5–6 years at PAUD Karang Balita Kalanganyar.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the improvement of vocabulary ability in children aged 4–5 years through the singing method at TK Al-Hasby, Muncang District, Lebak Regency. The research employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) method using the Kemmis and McTaggart model, which consisted of two cycles, with each cycle comprising four meetings. The study applied both qualitative and quantitative approaches. Data were collected through observation, documentation, and field notes. The research instruments included observation sheets for children's vocabulary ability and teacher activity observation sheets. The results showed that the implementation of the singing method improved the children's vocabulary ability in each learning cycle. In the pre-action stage, the percentage of children's vocabulary ability was 39.17%, which increased to 56.66% in Cycle I, and further increased to 83.75% in Cycle II. These findings indicate that the singing method effectively helps children recognize, understand, remember, and pronounce new vocabulary through enjoyable, active, and developmentally appropriate learning activities. Based on the findings, it can be concluded that the implementation of the singing method effectively improves the vocabulary ability of children aged 4–5 years at TK Al-Hasby, Muncang District, Lebak Regency.

Abstract

This study aims to enhance the social behavior skills of children aged 5-6 years at Arifyan Kindergarten, Warunggunung District, Lebak Regency, through storytelling activities using picture media. The study was motivated by issues regarding children's suboptimal learning abilities in storytelling using picture media; the primary factors contributing to this problem were limited learning media and limitations in designing such media. This classroom action research employed the Kemmis & McTaggart cyclical model, which was originally developed by Kurt Lewin, with four stages in each cycle: planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The research subjects were 25 children aged 5-6 years at Arifyan Kindergarten. The results demonstrate an improvement in children's social behavior skills through storytelling activities using picture media. In Cycle I, the results showed: 2 children (20%) were categorized as "Not Yet Developed" (BB); 3 children (20%) were "Starting to Develop" (MB); 4 children (59%) were "Developing as Expected" (BSH); and 2 children (41%) were "Developing Very Well" (BSB). Storytelling activities with picture media proved effective as visual and auditory stimuli that attract children's attention and help them understand storylines and moral values concretely.
